Are there serious freezing isssues?
Kotaku is making it sound like there is serious freezing issues for the game, but from what I can see from the forums it seems to only be a ps3 problem.  Is there a freezing problem with the 360 version.

Dude, it's not the game it's your 360 that's the problem. Mine did that when I first got it it only did it on COD3 I had to send it in for repair.

I have the exact same problem. I managed to get past the first mission, then i froze. I went, "Ah well, one time more", rebooted, and froze within 2 minutes.

I have bad memories of that one. COD3 signaled the end of my initial 360. First it was only that game, but then every game would freeze-up. No RROD, just system lock-ups. My second 360 has been rolling along for over a year and I'm hoping GTA isn't implicated its death.
My 360 is dying, and I suspect my wife is involved.

Re: Are there serious freezing isssues?
I am having some issues with mine as well. I just picked up GTA 4 for 360 and When I hit start new game it shows a black screen which never goes away. Cannot do anything, system locks up. Should I try that system repair or return the game?

........Silly games can be faulty too. People with freezing issues need to try another game if no freezing occurs then your gta disc may be faulty that means its stupid so you will have to call the store where you got it from and see if they have any more copies you could exchange for since you got a faulty disc. Bring your receipt, and get another disc if that one doesn't work try again repeat this maybe three or four times and if still freezing occurs then maybe your xbox doesn't like GTA.

From what I understand we were supposed to get the game much sooner but Rockstar was having a hard time with the PS3 version and it delayed the overall release of the game.  Sounds like all the bugs are still there for the PS3.

its all unofficial but seems to be the case.  I do honestly feel bad for PS3 owners.  Cod3 had no mic support - GT5P has no mic support and can't invite friends, now GTA4 with its issues.

Re: Are there serious freezing isssues?

I kept having a freezing problem on the Hung out to dry mission. The game kept freezing on the loading screen.

Clearing the cache fixed it. So I would suggest then anyone having freezing problems to clear the HDD cache.

To clear the cache. Go to memory section of dashboard and press 'Y'

Next press X, X, LB, RB, X, X

Next select 'Yes' to perform maintenance.

Game should now work properly(hopefully)

Re: Are there serious freezing isssues?

Chad2382,

Since you started this thread earlier today, you may have since seen in this forum and others that for some its possible to resolve the concern by clearing the console's cache or exchanging the game disk at the place of purchase. However, if you find others that continue to experience issues with freezing or other console concerns, please have them the console freezes support article. In addition, anyone can feel free to visit the Xbox Support page on Xbox.com or contact Xbox Support on the phone for additional assistance.
