is anyone else experienceing major freezing issues? i cant play the game for more than 10 mins without it freezing, what a joke, luckily i bought EBGames Gameplay warrenty, so i am able to return it for another copy, right? (that is, if its in stock)

The only freezing I had was playing darts with Roman.

I've played it for several hours and not one freeze.  Try clearing the cache first then if that doesn't work exchange the game.

Exchanging the game has nothing to do with fixing the problem. All the games that are pressed have all the exact assets and data on the disc. It's all the same thing.

If you guys actually read and check Rockstar's official GTA IV forums, you'll find out that they are aware of the freezing problems for PS3 and 360. Their current workaround is: "Delete your saved game, and start over."

I Cant play anymore. The game freeze everytime when i start up. How can you clear the cache ??

have played almost 30 hours and not 1 freeze or glitch. spot on rock*

To clear the cache. Go to memory section of dashboard and press 'Y'

Next press X, X, LB, RB, X, X

Next select 'Yes' to perform maintenance.


gonna try this now, if not gonna hopefully get a new disk.

Not working :( Mine xbox freeze when I see the copyright screen of GTA IV, all the other games work well

some people are, some aren't mate. i am and can't play more than 5 mins, im getting my 360 disc drive replaced as i believe it has some blame because of past problems.

Rockstar have agknowledged  a problem on the 360 and PS3 (60gb) but have yet to find the root. all we can do is wait.

whats more annoying are these posts with people bashing the game and me sitting here just plain wanting to play it.

It froze once while chasing the laundermat guy.  Earlier, I was playing pool with Michelle, then the table, people, and building disappeared.  All that was left was the concrete slab.  It did not make Michelle happy when I stopped playing pool in the middle of the game.  LOL.

i too read that the problem is worse on the ps3; not only that their servers are down and no one can play it online...my guess is there will be some kind of patch within the next week or so...i haven't had a problem yet; although it was a pain in the a$$ getting it out of the box.

I actually read that the problem is actually worse here as it is happening across all models and with the ps3, its only on early versions (2006) of the  60GB.

hmm, i went to EB and exchanged my copy for a new one, and everything seems fine so far. (crosses fingers)

Mine freezes right away, I haven't moved the car one inch. There is nothing listed under memory for this game for me to even erase.  I guess I will just have to wait it out as it is sold out and there will be none for me to exchange.

Really really disappointing.

Not so sure, everything else works great.  I just think there is nothing listed under memory because I don`t go 5 seconds inot the game without freezing, so there is nothing saved.

I experienced a freeze in the "first date" mission, and can't connect to online (I use Ps3 version, wired).

I'm sending my 360 to MS. I am so mad that everything freezes. Almost all of my games are freezing now.

mine was freezing,, took the game back for another, and still was freezing.  then I changed from 1080I resolution back to 720p and it hasn't froze on me yet.. maybe some of you are also trying HD, take down the resolution and see if it helps you.

Well, I don't have the game yet but I've had similar problems with other games. What I would do is go and replace the game to see if it's the disc. If it keeps freezing after replacing it then it's your 360 and you can't play any GTA4 game until you get your 360 fixed. I've had it happen twice to me...

ive been experiencing some frame rate issues, like skipping. but that happens with most my games. a restart usually helps.

Ive had it freeze on me a few times and alot of people i know have had the same problem.

mine only froze once...the problem I was having last night was my TV screen went black and you couldn't see anything.  Happened twice after about 10-15 mins of game play.  Exchanged my original copy today @ Gamestop, haven't tried the new one yet, but hopefully it solves the problem.  I've played both COD4 and NHL since I got it, and not problem with those games.
