I love Star Wars and I want to pick one of these up this weekend, what do you guys suggest? I toyed around with I on the PC but didn't spend a lot of time with it.

Well it is going to have to come down to your own personal opinion.These games are rpgs therefor you might have to spend some time with it to get a good feel for it.I pesonally thought that the first one was better,I finally got around to playing it.The second on was a good game too but I just like the first better.

This is going to sound a bit odd but I suggest you play first KotOR II and then KoTOR I. Although I prefer KotOR I story and characters KotOR II is more user friendly you'll get familiarized with the controls faster and the overall interface arrangement it's easier to catch up with. If you have never played K1 deeply enough; K2 will give you a "feel" of what happened without giving up the "surprises" in the plot. Again like Anubis said it's a matter of your own personal opinion. Surely you will fall in love with both games once your familiarized... I can't wait for KotOR III (hoping since 2004)

I hope so. I absolutely loved the first two. Hard-pressed to decide which I liked better.

Yeah they are,I can't wait for that game.I think in celebration of that I will sit down and play the first two over again.

If you guys had the chance to play it on PC, go to FileFront.com, they have tons and tons of cut content and fun mods to enhance either K1 or K2. For example I just found K2 too easy even on hard, well I just found a cool mod for PC that adds two more diff levels to play with: choke and horror... I gotta tell ya' they stand up for the names.

The first one is better by far.

Better characters, better Jedi Academy music, better story, better everything.

Thats not to say II has nothing to offer as I thought Kreia was one of its redeemable aspects.

I think that number 2 is the best because I think that the storyline is better than the first and I also like the fact that you can influence the other chracters.

They both have their differences making them great games. Kotor has Darth Revan, a great story line, and a space station with saber crystals. Kotor 2 has more attributes and force powers to offer, not to mention the way they left the ending which made an opening for a 1000 possibilities 4 Kotor 3 and it still had a decent storyline. None the less i'll settle for the first Kotor because it its storyline.

I thought taht kotor1 was the better of the two but you might as well buy both i mean they cant be more than 10 dollars each if that but if u want to know what they are talking about get the first one and learn that story i played kotor 2 before kotor 1 and i had no idea wtf was going on so you may be a bit confused if u get the second one first.

definitely the first one is better overall.  the story flows better since it wasnt rushed to release.  they are both great however the second is just a step below the original.  unfortunately guys, still no announced plans for a 3rd kotor.  all that has been announced is an mmorpg made by bioware based in the old republic timeline.  thats is good news however which means they havent forgot about kotor.

depends KOTOR 1 gives you more understanding of the jedi ways and the story first hand of the starforge and has alot more advwnture with longer story

KOTO 2 i like personaly better its more of the Sith side as the title explains, and if i had to chocie in reallife i would be a sith. and the fighting force and action is better more wars

They're not making KOTOR 3 unfortunately,  Bioware is making a Star Wars MMORPG based in the Old Republic timeline.  It isnt the continutation of the series but I do think it is good news hinting that a 3rd one will probably be done.  Personally, I am pumped for this MMO, should be amazing with Bioware at the helm

A Star Wars mmo sounds pretty good as long as they keep that idea away from Kotor III.

I thought the game play in the second and intreaction with the environment and other characters is a huge improvment. But the story and depth of the game was better in the first one in my opinion, as well as being longer.

Episode I was much better. Dont get me wrong episode II is still one of my favorites, its just Bioware Corp. really nailed it, something Obsidian Enterainment just couldnt pull off. But non the less Obsidian did an oustanding job, they incorporated alot of great things into the series, like how your party would be molded into what you were, or how you could influence party members to become something else. Overall they did great with the NPC payers. It really just wast fair to them that Bioware Corp. went fist, and in a way set the standard for RPGs of the future. I just dont understand to this day why Bioware Corp. would pass up somthing like that. Whatever game they were working on should have been put on hold. I dont understand Bioware Corp. they got ther priorities all screwed up.

Agreed. I rented the first one a little bit after it first came out and it seemed to foreign to me lol.I had no idea how it all worked. The gameplay system was frustrating for me bc I didn't fully understand the turn based system bc I was like 8.
I personally like the 2nd one more but there both very good so you can't go wrong with either choice. I just for some reason liked the 2nd one much better in a personal sense.

Each game was unique in it's own right. However, since KOTOR II had no level cap nor any glitches on the xbox 360, it won me over !!!

i like kotor 1 better but both are great i think its just kotor 1 was so much more epic there was a big plot twist and it was the first in the seris which holds some respect to me at least

Not to reply to an over a year old clip, but this is untrue.

We all know by now that Star Wars: The Old Republic is going to be released sometime soon.  Which is of course the MMO you all heard about way back when. 

That doesn't however, rule out the making of KoToR 3.  It would only make sense to continue on with the series in my opinion, as the second game left it open and so many things unanswered.

As for the topic at hand, I would have to go with the first game.  There was no other game like it at the time on the original Xbox, and to that sense the immersion it brang was beyond words.  But with that said, I still found KoToR 2 very enjoyable, and even with the unfinished mechanics, it was a grade A game to me.

lucky you! kotor 2 in 360 glitched all the tme for me. no entries in journal for one and no team mates in the jedi academy on telso = look out the old xbrick and start again.....wonderful games though like both equally!
