Call of Duty 2® FAQ

by Rebel Razer 360

Revision Date: 2/2/06

Disclaimer: I specifically DO NOT provide details on how to beat any missions…. Why?  Because it’s your game and each time you play COD2 it will be different. As such you need to find what works for you each time you play it…  So instead I offer tips and strategies on game play, and the names of missions and maps.  And some Veteran tips… And at the bottom there is a section on LINKS to Walkthroughs FAQs and Weapon FAQs

General Tips
  • Crouch whenever possible. You have a smaller zone of attack by design.
  • Toss grenades to move you enemy out of his comfort zone… then shoot him.
  • There are few time constraints… so don’t feel rushed.
  • Use an accurate rifle… to take out machine gun nests or enemies at a distance.
  • Go prone behind anything… when you are under total attack.
  • Keep reloading your weapons… Never engage in any battle without a reload.
  • The targeting reticule… (accuracy) expands as you move & tightens when you stop
  • You run faster with a pistol drawn? Same for single and multiplayer modes
  • Your aim is more accurate… when you Crouch or go Prone
  • You can change your pistol… for any gun on any map… walk over it and press "X"
  • Aim Down the Sights (ADS)... all guns have this… by pulling the Left Trigger
  • Melee Attack… when possible to save ammo... And for spectacular animations
  • Shoot enemies still crawling... They might just kill you with their Luger
  • Reload often… See veteran tips below
  • Check your Objective… by hitting the back button

Veteran Strategies

If you are need specifics on how to beat a mission use the links at the bottom of this FAQ... They are decent and should help...

  • Save at least 2 smoke grenades... For tanks. Remember basic training?
  • Go for the objective quickly... because the enemy will re-spawn endlessly until you do.
  • You don’t always have to use the default weapon. There's no harm in picking up weapons you're more comfortable with. (Thanks flow)
  • If you have HDTV use it… I used the M1-Garand on Silo to kill the Mortar Teams… HDTV required for detail…
  • In open areas like On Hill 400… block off one of your sides with a smoke grenade.
  • Strafe an enemy… to get past an area.
  • Pick Off MG42’s… They are not that difficult to take out then you increase you odds.
  • Move slightly while scoped… to get you enemy to pop their heads up.
  • Work your way in to a closed room…  By cautiously controlling each zone.
  • Ricochet grenades… off door frames in rooms… and in windows off frames.
  • Toss grenades in upstairs windows… where campers are well entrenched.
  • Step in to a room… toss a grenade in… Step back out. Or fire and back out
  • General George S. Patten said: “Those that wait around are certain to die...” Go kill them before they kill you!

Re: Call of Duty 2 FAQ + Guides

Sublimes CoD 2 Guide

This is a inside out guide to call of duty multiplayer i will go through the basics of play and give you tips on each weapons , Maps, and Gamer types and a few Hints and Tips to help you get better at the game, This is Mainly Focused at new players to the game , but who no's you may even find it usefull.

Weapons Guide:

Probably the most important part to your Game , once you master a weapon you can start to become dominant , Sprayin may work sometimes , but its not the best option here is a guide to each weapon

Russian -

Perhaps The easiest Team on the game due to the Capacity of its weapons , although these weapons are not the most practical and "Realistic" They are still the most affective on there given maps

TT30 (Pistol) - The 2nd Most effective Pistol on cod2 , It isn't required much due to the Huge amount of ammo the russian guns carrie and there big clips, but it can be usefull if your abit iffy with the sniper at close range , i strongly recommend hitting the left trigger, if you don't aim with the pistol it becomes extreamly inacurate

PPS42 - One of the most Favored Russian weapons the 42 is Extreamly Accurate at close to Mid range and its ability to fire quick will gain the advantage over someone with a slower weapon, Very good in CTF.

Mosin-Nagant - The best allied weapon if used correctly , this is a 1 shot beast and in the hands of some-one who no's what there doing will be deadly , if you have the time be sure to aim for the upper chest or head for that 1 shot kill, Best used at Mid-Long Range. (May require 2 shots *sometimes)

Tokarev STV-40 - Probably The Worst Russian weapon this weapon is a hard one to master , Much like the German Gewher 43 this weapon will recoil alot , it is best used in rapid fire between short-mid range , but be sure to space your shots out at long range otherwise you'll give away your postion and won't hit much due to the recoil of the weapon.

Scoped Mosin Nagant - Like all Snipers Its pretty much about Long Range, The scoped Mosin Nagant Has Probably The best aim cursor when scoped , a tip at close range would be to quick scope , For Deatils on how to Quick scope look at the General Hints and Tips.

M1897 Trench Gun - Abit of a random gun , Very usefull on maps such as Kalach or Rostov , this weapon is heavy duty at close range but will weaken the further out it is, if your going to use it , avoid big open spaces.

PPSh - Boasting 71 Bullets of destruction this weapon can be very effective , theres not much to learn with this gun due to its huge amount of ammo you need not worrie about 1 shots or short bursts , just rip that trigger and hope it hits , this weapon is terrible at long range. Very good for HQ.

British -

Pretty Much the Same as The Americans the British will be a even choice amongst many but it has some advantages.

Webly (Pistol) - Probably The weakest Gun in the game the colt is pretty poor , unless it is 100 % needed id recommend avoiding , or running away from the enemy

Sten - Abit of a Random weapon , this gun has quite large recoil , and much like its fellow British weapons has a poor site , its best used in close quater maps such as St Leout or Alam Halfa.

Lee-Enfield - Due to its UnforgivingIron site this gun is Largely over looked , Its iron site is rather chunky and can be hard to aim on a smaller TV , it is just like its counter parts the Moison Nagant and the Kar98k in the fact that its a 1 shot kill , i wouldnt recommend using this gun until you've mastered the Kar98k as this weapon can be hard.

M1 Garand - The best allrounder on the game the M1 is a prince amongst men for the allies , its a rather straight forward weapon that has very little recoil , id recommend though to always have 5 Bullets left in your clip , the weapon has enough bullets to last just shoot off the remainin bullets in the clip once you've killed someone , don't leave it too late though otherwise you risk giving your postion away. Always if the opportunity comes around try and 2 shot ,its less likely to give away where you are , and if theres 2 of them it can be the matter between life and death.

Scoped Lee-Enfield - Probably the weakest sniper in the game but the fastest , you can shoot alot quicker than say the scoped kar , and with its clip of 10 bullets its a strong choice.

M1897 Trench Gun - Abit of a random gun , Very usefull on maps such as Kalach or Rostov , this weapon is heavy duty at close range but will weaken the further out it is, if your going to use it , avoid big open spaces

Thompson - A spray and pray weapon pretty much , Its very rappid and powerfull at close range , though its pretty much useless at long range , id recomened this weapon for CTF for its close quaters ability and for its smoke grenade.

Bren LMG - Most Underated Weapon on CoD2 the breny is extreamly powerfull at close range and its first shot is 100 accurate at long range , very good on el alemine ... its let down due to it unforgiving site which takes up most of your screen , but don't let its looks fool you , its a beast from the east (note:its melee is very very slow)

Americans -

Best Side on the Game? Maybe Probably the most all round team.very good side on all its Maps.

Colt .45 (Pistol) - Strongest Pistol on the Game , a very handy reserve if your a unconfident sniper up close or you have just ran out of Ammo , downfall is you find sometimes you could have done with 8 Bullets instead of 7.

Grease Gun - Another Tricky One , if your going to use this Gun , use it only on a small map such as burgendy. dont even bother trying short bursts , letting rip is the way forward.

M1A1 Carbine - Extreamly Fast weapon , Shot wise and speed wise , you can run as fast as a pistol with this gun and it has a large clip , but theres a downside , its recoil can be unforgiving , and its a 3shot kill gun unless you get the headshot , its scope is very simaller to Lee-enfield , Its a weapon that you may need alot of practice with , its usefull in CTF for its speed.

M1 Garand - The best allrounder on the game the M1 is a prince amongst men for the allies , its a rather straight forward weapon that has very little recoil , id recommend though always have 5 Bullets , the weapon has enough bullets to last just shoot of the remainin bullets in the clip once youve killed someone , don't leave it too late thought otherwise you risk giving your postion away. Always if the oppotunity comes around 2 shot ,its less likely to give away where you are , and if theres 2 of them it can be the matter between life and death

Springfield - Same old same old , Its a sniper and its one hit kill , i find this sniper to be the most Inafective as i dislike its scope , its pretty much the same as the other though , aim for the body.

M1897 Trench Gun - A bit of a random gun , Very usefull on maps such as Kalach or Rostov , this weapon is heavy duty at close range but will weaken the further out it is, if your going to use it , avoid big open spaces

Thompson - A spray and pray weapon pretty much , Its very rappid and powerfull at close range , Though its pretty much useless at long range , id recomened this weapon for CTF for its close quaters ability and for its smoke grenade.

BAR - Most Inafective weapon on the americnas , pretty much an all rounder and not bad for distance , but it has a very small clip , and can be horrible at close range , is powerfull but recoils alot.

Axis -

The Dirty Jerrys , Very strong Team With the best sniper and The Kar98k and the MP44 Make s strong side.

Luger (Pistol) - IMO the 3rd best pistol although its as strong as the american colt , its shots can be somewhat annoying , when you fire a flap shoots up which can be distracting and some what Fatal if your trying to get them in the head.

MP40 - A very Powerfull close quaters gun this weapon can outgun most allied weapons , but at Range can be a let down , it is best at range using short Bursts , if used correctly this weapon can be the most usefull Axis weapon. Good for CTF

Kar98k - The Iron sited Kar is extreamly good on the open maps such as Caen and Brecourt but you might want too think twice about it on maps such as Leningrad , or el alemine , this weapon much like the Nagant is a 1 shot kill , its iron site is by far the best giving you much more vision making shots much more accurate , if you use the Kar Medium is the best sensativity , as you'll find that High misses when you know it should have hit

Gewher 43 - Not Recoil Friendly this weapon is Mixed , at close range hit the trigger as fast as you can and aim lower toso as the recoil will trag the weapon up , take your time at distance though as the recoil can be unforgiving at distance.

Scoped Kar98k - Strongest Sniper , The S Kar is the master of quick scopes and is the most powerfull sniper.

M1897 Trench Gun - Abit of a random gun , Very usefull on maps such as Kalach or Rostov , this weapon is heavy duty at close range but will weaken the further out it is, if your going to use it , avoid big open spaces

MP44 - Pretty Much the M1 of the Germans , This weapon is deadly if used right , due to its low recoil and brilliant accuracy this weapon is good at short too long range , if your enemy is far away always tap the button as in the manner of 1 shotting, this will give you far more accuracy, don't be fooled though this weapon can be weaker than expected at close range.

Re: Call of Duty 2 FAQ + Guides

Gamer Type Guide:

A Guide o each of CoD2's Gamer Types.

TDM -

A Tuff one as this can be Played in many ways, First of all Pick the weapon for the Map , For example You might want to think about this ( Brecourt , Long (Sniper, Kar98k) Carentan , Mid Range/short (M1 , Kar , MP44 , Thompson)   Kalach , Short (PPSh , Trench , MP40)
Now you've decided on your weapon , decide on your Mentality , do you want to Camp? Sneak around ....? Run and Gun? , Always pick a weapon for what you want to do , if you want to run and gun , dont pick a sniper, also think about where you want to go , for example Carentan? , do you want to watch the north road? think about a range weapon! , want to sneak around the middle buildings? take a trench/Thompson/mp40 , want to run around and strut your stuff? Take a mp44/M1 Garand/Kar98k......

Be a Team Player , after all this is a team game ... if your diein 24/7 and your team mates are saying stay back , how about staying back? who no's they may be right , if your camping start isn't working try switching weapons and tactics , never stay in the same spot... remember once you get a kill they can see you on Kill Cam.

Watch your kill cam , like any Gamer type you should watch your kill cam , In TDM lots of ppl are diein to respawn but watching your KC Can be very usefull.

Head Quaters -

Play Its Smart, always be aware of were The HQ is , dont be in the south if the HQ is in the north , get you butt over towards the HQ! , if your the only guy left and your on the other side of the map your guys will spawn with you... Make sure your postioned right! When going for a HQ don't always gung ho, Hit the back button, if all of the other guys are still alive don't go for the box  , pick your moment if its 4v4 wait till its say,.. 4v2 and jump on it , also get another guy on with you , it will set up the box twice as fast!

Don't be a chicken , if the Box is just about set up and you hear a clunk and see that dreaded Grenade infront of you , don't run off , take one for the team ... don't care so much about you KpD , its all about the HQ points!. Plan ahead when your setting up a box think about where your going to run too , don't set up the box and wait there thinking where to go, always think ahead.

Grenades are the Key , are you defending the HQ and your team mates have died? ....1v4? Don't Panic if you have some grenades go about 30ft away from the HQ and  hide , and when you see HQ is being destroyed look straight up and towards the HQ and throw your Nades , if you've gotten in the right spot the nades will be a gift from heaven and will sure get them off the HQ! (Practice Makes Perfect). Also a thing to think about , if your team has 3 snipers , how about you pick a automatic , 4 snipers wont work for HQ. Throw a smoke onto the Box can be the diffrence between picking a bullet out of your best Pants or running away thinking "Yer, me 1 you 0"

CTF -

First of all Think about if you want to attack or defend , as a right choice of weapon is pretty much Vital , if you want to defend think about picking a long range weapon , Like a Sniper or a Bolt action.... If you want too Attack think about a weapon which won't let you down at close range as you'll be getting stuck in there ,such as the MP40 or the Thompson , you may even want to be a "Floater" someone who helps protect the flag carrier and who likes to fall back if the enemy grabs the flag , if you such a player think about the M1 Garrand , MP44 , PPS42....

When on attack use cover try huging walls and sticking into buildings , throw a smoke on the flag to mask where you go and try and take the route that is safest ie , nearest cover .... when defending you might want to move around if so find a few spots such as The Boxes on carentan or the Cars on Caen and use them to your advantage , or if your soul purpose is to guard that flag like it was your meaning in life then grab a sniper , hop on your belly and aim at that Flag , even when someone Pops a smoke on it keep aiming at that flag and when you hear the drums let rip and you should have hit your target .

Vocals are a big factor in CTF , if you see where the enemy has taken the flag , don't be a hero tell your team mates where hes going!. A good tip is if the enemy have taken the flag into an open spot and been killed and you can guard alot easier than at the flag spawn then leave it and cover it. If the enemy have your flag and you have no clue where it is , everyone go for there flag , remember if you have there flag they can't score , find yourself a nice hidey hole and camp untill your teammates get your flag back , a good tip is if the enemy have the flag and you die , check out the kill cam , you will see there POW and you will see where there flag is (N,S,W,E) Think about where he could be and hunt him/her down!

Search and Destroy -

Before you pick a team think about if you want to Plant the Bombs or Protect the targets , Axis defend and allies attack , ill give you advice/tips on axis first...

Defending , take a guess what you should do? thats right... defend... now thats under wraps we'll get underway your most favoured gun in s&d will be mid range/short range weapons (mp44 and M1 are the best weapons in s&d) pick a bomb site you'd like to cover once you've done that find a spot which you think they'd come from or you can  just keep and eye on a Bomb site.

Keep a look out for team mates diein , you'll see a skull where they die make sure to note where it is because thats where the enemy is probably coming from ... if your team mates have all gone B , think about going A , Just because they lack common sense don't argue with them , just go A and wrack up those kills. Lurck in the shadows! , a good tactic for s&d is hidein in bushes or behind sand bags and bushes , go prone or on you belly your job is to defend stay as still as you can and keep an eye out for any enemy movement. a good idea for s&d is if you notice someone rushing a certain spot every round is to give him a couple on Nades chances are you'll get him and he'll change his mind about taking that route again!

Attacking , Plan your route... think about where your going to go and if your going too rush or not , if your going to go Leeroy Jenkins style think about a close quaters weapon like the Thompson , chances are you'll come face to face with an enemy.

Don't be predicatble , Mix it up a little if you go the same way everytime you might get caught onto and find yourself dead. If you notice a player camps the same spot each round, Throw some grenades at him an make him think twice ... play it smart , if your guy has just gone through a door and his brains are now all over the wall , don't contomplate going through it and doing a neo style kill , how about taking another route? and Getting him in the back?.

Dummy arm, This is a brilliant Tactic... Tap X on the bomb target then when you hear the arming noise , let go and run to cover , and wait for the axis to come running when they do kill them and plant that yellow box of doom! , Smokes are a good weapon too chuck one onto your target then arm it , this could also be a affective decoy , throw a smoke on Bombsite A for example and arm it at B , They won't even see it coming.. well maybe.

Death Match -

Its all about you , Grab you faveroutie weapon and go for it , think about the map though , if say its burgundy maybe a MP44 will be a good choice , or if its toujane climb onto a roof and goto town with the Kar98k , or if your a Camper take a sniper and find yourself a nice little spot to pitch up your tent .... theres not really much too death match , my advice would be Throw your grenades in random spots , its better using them , than not using them at all.

My plan is so simple an idiot could have thought of it

Re: Call of Duty 2 FAQ + Guides
Map Guide:

Beltot - Beltot is a pretty open map but is focused mainly on Medium/Long range combat , it would be wise to go for a weapon that is reliable at range rather than a trench gun , theres many strong points on this map the strongest being the main building , if you find yourself in the open try and hug the Hedges and find some cover , a good tactic is to hide being one of the two bridges. If you go into the tower (with the ladder) and get killed don't go back up there it's to obviouse.

Brecourt - Obviousley a long range map , Brecourt is the sort of map you don't go short range on , there is a trench but is rarely used , you best option is too pick up a sniper rifle and hide in the ruins , try and lie down behind a tree or a piece of rubble or broken wall , use your surrondings to your advantage, Try and avoid going into the Farm as this is a Major spawn killing spot, and with this being a open map is hard to get out of.

Burgundy - a Close/mid range map Burgundy offers the chance to use alot of weapons , a faverouite amongst many is the M1 but the MP44 And Kar can more than match it , the broken building is the main focus of this map and if your team mates arn't in it be sure to check it, you could always take the Thompson and hang around the middle of the map, Grenades are very effective on this map as movement is tight and theres not as much room to run.

Caen - A Very Even Map that offers alot , a good tactic is to use the buildings in the middle , and switch after every couple of kills , The Cafe can off you alot of options in TDM , if you play CTF try and take the flag down the East or West as down the middle can be deadly as you try and cross through the middle, if you see someone in a building throw a few nades up there first then rush up the stairs, try and avoid the trainstation at the back because if you get stuck in there you may find yourself being spawn killed

Carentan - A Building Focused map its a good idea to camp in one of the buildings and hold your ground , if you pick a sniper you may find sitting behind the box's in the south a good spot , or behind the fence to the North , try and avoid sitting in the MG42 window for too long as this is a frequent spot for people too check out, Nades are usefull on this Map , Try and throw a few in the middle court yard or into one of the many buildings, you may get lucky. Mid range weapons are the key.

El Alamein - A Pretty Dark map which offers all opportunitys of weapons , if you decide on snipein try and use the hills and the vehicles as sniper cover , Trench Guns can run riot on this map in the Trenchs Just as the Thompson and Bren LMG , Try and avoid the bunker as theres only 1 way in , and one way out.Use the Bushes as cover , try liein down in one if you spot someone coming your way , the darkness of the map combined with the bush offers perfect Cover.

Leningrad - Like most Russian Maps this Map Favours the Russians , a good weapon for the Axis would be the MP44 , use the buildings to your advantage and listen out for ppl coming up the stairs. The middle building is a good spot if you want to rack up some quick kills.

Matamata - Another even map , The best tactic would be to get up High , the M1 garand and Kar98k are the best weapons for you on this map , the stair cases offer good vantage points if you find yourself in the open in the middle of the map be sure to get out of there fast.

Moscow - A Very Long range dominant Map , the best tactic is to avoid both the big Buildings and stick to the sides , Avoid at all costs the Big Buildings top floor you are going to die if you go up there , Use the broken trams as cover and shoot through the broken windows , if your axis use your camoflage to your advantage a lie low. PPSh is a bad choice on this map.

St. Mere Eglise - Another all rounder map which offers alot, In TDM try and avoid the ruins in the corner as you dont want to find yourself being spawn killed , the best tactic you can have is too camp the buildings and pick ppl off when there on the streets .. when ever you go into the church throw a grenade or two in there first just incase someone is waiting for you. A good spot is to climb into the Vehicle that is on fire.    Before you run into the grave yard be sure to check out the area , there's 6 ways to get into the Grave yard make sure to watch your back.

Stalingrad -The Main focus on this Map is the 3 story Building and The Tank Warehouse , if you decide to take the Building Take a sniper or a long range weapon , if you pick the warehouse you might want to think about the PPSh or MP44 this is a good map for grenades and you can find yourself being trapped , try getting on top of some of the trams , alot of people dont know you can climb the ladders of the trams on this map

Toujane - A Even Map Mainly Long range , This isnt a good map for the Thompson / MP40 so don't bother (UNLESS its ctf) your best bet for easy kills is too get on the roofs , but watch out for people at the top of the ladders. This Map isn't the best map for a Sniper so don't instantly think you will go on a rampage if you take the sniper. You can't really camp on this map because you'll probably just end up as nade bait.

Villers-Bocage - a Very good map for Semi-auto's and automatics as its pretty much all close range , always keep an eye on the middle building as people use it as a quick route from one side of the map to the other , theres alot of cover round the side of the map , so use this to your advantage , this is a weak map for the sniper.

Vossenack - Sniper Based map , But a person whos good with the Kar98k can run dominant , try and avoid going up the hills and use as much cover as you can ,a good tactic is to hold the bunker , though be carefull you don't poke your head out for too long.

Wallender - Another even map , A good spot is near the church behind the long wall from here you can get a good view of the street but be carefull of attacks from the left . another good spot is the blown up building near the middle alot of the action is foccused round here , remember alot of the buildings on this map have no roofs , so use your grenades!

Kalach - *PPSh* Basically says it all , if you've got even abit of skill you can cause havok , if your on axis , and everyone is PPSh happy take a trench gun and show them whos boss, Also you'd be supprised that camping in either of the two main corners (The ones that arnt under roofs) with a bolt action (Kar98k or Nagant) is a very good tactic and can see a very good KpD.

Beaumont-Hague - Always use the buildings and watch out for people running the streets, Also watch the ladder leading to the top of the silo and have a laugh and pop people off just before they reach the top.

Anctoville - AVOID the big barn , you may think its a good spot but its not , you will soon find yourself and your team stuck in a spawn killing spot and the enemy covering every exit.. the key is to stick around the middle Buildings , Play this map sneaky and use the windows.

St.Louet - A Very dark map offering lots of Hidein spots , your best off sitting in a building and letting people run around and you just pick them off , theres lots of cover so use it. a bad idea would be going into the church yard as its very easy to get killed in that area.

Amaye sur Seulles - Very close combat map , not much in tactics more of a run and gun , always throw nades around the middle chances are you'll get someone. Go with a fast gun like the Thompson rather than a sniper.

Alam Halfa - Simaller to the above , I know its tempting but dont go onto the Roof with the two ladders opposite each other as you'll get grenaded in no time , this is a bad map for snipein as its 90% close range.

Rostov - a Very even map , try using the boxs as cover and take your enemy down , the PPS42 Is a strong weapon on here , if you pick a sniper or bolt stick to either side of the map where it is nice and open , if you find someone with a snipe who keeps picking your guys off smoke him then rush him.

Re: Call of Duty 2 FAQ + Guides

General Hints and Tips:

  • Always Use cover , don't stand in the open its just common sense!
  • Jump and lie down! , its throws your opponents off and can prove Vital ( Hit A then quickly press and hold B) Practice this and you'll find yourself doing it all the time.
  • Sneak don't run around all the time! , Your enemys can hear you when you prone sneak up to them and give them a smack over the head
  • Run with your pistol , In games like CTF you need speed , take out your pistol and run your little legs off!
  • Hide in Bushes , you'd be suprised how many times people walk past you
  • Don't Just Spray , Short Burst your weapons ... don't panic and take your time.
  • Snipe on High sensativity you'll find it ALOT better once you master it.
  • Learn how to throw Grenades , Practice on your own throwing Grenades through windows on Carentan , learn to land that grenade in the pocket!
  • Show no mercy , if you no theres a room full of people , throw caution out of the window go in all guns blazein.
  • Lie down, your less likely to be seen and your gun is alot more accurate.
  • Don't be a hero be a team mate , if its a team game communicate , don't think your a one man army.
  • Don't snipe on small maps , Its common sense.
  • if you can land the melee then do it , don't shoot him and give away your postion
  • Always reload, after killing someone Reload.
  • Always Bring up your site , your left trigger is there so use it , your guns accuracy increase alot when you pull up the site.
  • Pick up an opposite weapon , if you have a Kar98k and you run over a sniper and a thompson , take the thompson you dont need to long range weapons.
  • Don't Take a shot if you no you can't make it , you'll just give away where you are.
  • Hug walls find small walls and go prone behind them , the'll barely be able to see you.
  • Use smoke grenades to cover a Head Quaters or a Flag , It Might Just save your Butt!
  • Need help? , Call for your team mates help ... don't Just die maybe someone could help.
  • Aim for the chest , Dont shoot at there feet , Get used to aiming for the chest before trying to get head shots everytime.
  • If you can see there hand then shoot it , You might kill them , 2 shots from the Garrand on a hand will kill them.
  • Use your Radar , Its there for a reason.
  • Change Postions , Don't sit in the same spot all game , Mix it up a little don't be obviouse.
  • Quick Scope , Basically this is a no scope , But instead of just shooting with out zooming quickly Tap the left trigger before you shoot , this will act as though your about to zoom in making your gun much more accurate.
  • Show some love , after the game if you lose , don't go "Noob omg you sniper omg blah blah blah" Go Nice game guys i love your shot on blah blah , you'll go into the next game more foccused and you'll find the game more fun.
  • Think about it? , Small Map Dont Snipe , Big Map don't use Trench gun.

Re: Call of Duty 2 FAQ + Guides

Russian Missions:

The Winter War

I. -Red Army Training-

Character -
Vasili Koslov

When you get off of the truck to start this mission, the Commissar will order you to pick up a set of weapons (Your pistol and rifle [Mosin-Nagant]). Follow the gold star on your compass to a room in which you can pick up your weapons (Press X). They are on the table in the room, and they are glowing gold.

The Commissar will then ask you to take out your pistol (Press Y to switch weapons), and shoot the two teddy bears beyond the fence in front of him. Take aim, and shoot them. Next, you’ll have to shoot bottles and plates from a distance, so equip your rifle. Aim down your sights for better accuracy: Stay steady, and don’t rush things, and you can shoot the targets easily. Next you have to shoot helmets, do the exact same thing. He then orders you to bash a mannequin with your rifle. After that, he will ask you to pick up grenades. They are really potatoes though, so don’t worry if you mess up. Hold the right bumper, and aim just above where you want the potato to go, and release the bumper. Do this for the three marked targets, and move on.

Now you will see your first combat. Follow the Commissar into the exact room where you picked up your weapon, and you will find a German prisoner on a chair. Wait until the door opens, and then go out of the room. Crawl up and over the wall, and then below in a hole, and you will find yourself in a series of trenches. Crawl through the trenches, and arrive at the next building. There should be a table with smoke grenades, hand grenades, and a submachine gun. Load up, and reload the submachine gun. Then follow your squad up the ladder that they set up. Don’t run out into the open next, throw a smoke grenade, and only advance when your team says to. Then run like mad before the smoke goes away.

Your next obstacle is a German vehicle that pulls up. Not too hard though, just mow them down with your SMG, and take cover if you get too injured. When you advance, there is an MG42 in a hole in the building just in front of you. Either throw smoke and sneak by, or throw a fragmentation grenade, and blow the gunner out of his little hidey hole. Next look right, and turn around. Start going up to the broken houses. Careful though, there are enemies on multiple levels of the building. Take out the people on the bottom at first, and then the top. Make your way around the bend, and there will be a group of Germans: but instead of shooting them, shoot the explosive barrels next to them. Instant ownage. Make your way around the other bend, and use your smoke grenades to take out the remaining resistance. Switch to your rifle when far away, and your SMG when up close and personal. When everybody is taken care of, approach the vehicle (Panzerwerfer) and stick explosives to it. Mission ended.

II. “Demolition”

You start off your next mission near Solchneya St. You will first have to advance outside from the building you’re standing in. When you turn the corner, there will be multiple Germans shooting at you. So throw a grenade first to eliminate some of them. It is your choice here: SMG or rifle. To take out the remaining enemies, I’d personally go with the SMG because it is faster shooting, and the distance is pretty close range. Once they’re taken care of, advance to the window of the building. This is a pretty good firefight here. Depending on your skill, you may need smoke to cross the street, but it is up to you. Start pegging enemies from the window area, and when you feel ready, advance a little. Stop by the broken walls by the centre, as they are perfect cover. Once you get up to the building, take out your SMG and slowly start mowing down enemies. If your screen turns red, back out and then go back in when your health is restored. Leaving the building will take you to a trench with no enemy resistance. The only thing you need to look out for is the fact that tanks will roll over the trench, so stay low. Once that’s over and done, go through the hole in the wall.

You must now prepare for a counterattack. Near the window where you should be standing, there is a Scoped rifle that you can take. When you start to hear yelling, it is time to scope in and start repelling the counterattack. Hold your breath for more effect (hold down left analog stick). Occasionally un-scope, because you cannot shoot everybody: Make short work out of the enemies coming up to your position by mowing them down with the SMG you should be carrying. After you repel the attack, you and your squad must attack back. From now to the German HQ, there are 3 checkpoints:

- about ¼ to the HQ
- about ¾ to the HQ
- at the HQ

Use your smoke grenades when advancing. When you get closer, two MG42s will start firing at you (one at either side of the HQ). This is the perfect time to use your smoke grenades. Advance slowly while picking people off with the sniper, or German rifle that you picked up. When you get close to the HQ, take out a submachine gun once again (If you don’t have one, pick up a German MP40), and slowly start shooting, and if your screen turns red, go back into cover. Lather, rinse and repeat until you are in the HQ. In the building, there are a bunch of Germans, so only kill off one or two at a time before going back outside the door again. Using your grenades is a good idea too.

The final phase of this mission is blowing up the HQ. Go to your commanding officer, and he’ll inform you that the Germans have barricaded themselves on the top floor. Take explosives from the engineers, and plant them at the locations (see gold stars on your compass). Something to look out for here is the enemies that shoot at you from the holes in the ceiling. Try to avoid them. When the charges are set, get to a safe distance and the building will explode. You are done the mission.

Potential gamerpoints: 60 points for veteran (both levels), 50 for training mission.

Re: Call of Duty 2 FAQ + Guides
Not One Step Backwards

III. Repairing The Wire

Your job in this mission is to re-establish communications with your allies by repairing a telephone wire located throughout the level. The first intersection is a beats, and you must use smoke if you are playing through on veteran. There are countless enemies, and two MG42s near the end of the road. Throw the smoke in the middle of the road, and advance to the left of the road near the piles of rubble. Repair the wire here. There are some enemies to the left, so watch out and make short work of them. Use your grenades often to clear the area in which you are standing, and use your SVT-40 rifle to take out the tougher enemies. For smoke, throw only one at one of the MG42s. You can easily enough handle one machine gun, so if you cut out one, you can advance again. When you get to the building, look out and quickly get to cover. There are enemies scattered throughout the house on multiple levels. Use your rifle to take out the ones that pop their heads out. Use grenades to get the higher up ones, and use your SMG when you advance to the deeper parts of the house. When you take care of them all, head right to the hole in the wall. Enemies will be trying to get back in. You must throw grenades at the ground targets, and use your PPSH4 when they try to climb up back inside the building. There should also be another wire here.

When you turn the corner, there is a pathway with a lot of enemies, and an MG42 at the end of it all. You must advance slow here, and pull off precision shots, because the enemies come in great numbers, and they are just too good to be able to go Rambo on them. If you have smoke, use it, if you don’t good luck with that. Advance slowly, but steadily. Because the Germans re-spawn if you don’t take care of them fast enough. When you finally do make it to the end, cut right into the building (there should be a hole leading into it), also make sure you look at your compass, and repair the nearby wire before stepping inside. When stepping inside, throw grenades inside, because there are literally 4 Germans inside the door that will flank you like mad. When you are sure the coast is clear, go inside. This will lead you outside again, this time into a gutted house.

Tips for clearing out this area:

- since the enemies are on multiple levels again, use grenades (if possible) on the lower enemies, and pick off the higher enemies using a solid rifle. If your health turns red, go quickly into cover. When you think the coast is clear, head up the stairs to the right, but look out: There are about 6 enemies at the top of the stairs. Advance with caution, and equip your SMG. When you finally get to the top of the stairs, kill off the remaining 2 Germans, and man the MG42 overlooking the city. Support your troops until you hear them yelling. Then grab the nearby sniper (next to the MG42), and look behind you. This next part can be tricky, but not impossible. Use some of the grenades that you picked up to help clear out the opposite door. When you think it is clear, quickly advance across the plank of wood. Look out when you turn the corner, there are normally at least 4 enemies at the doorway. Waste them with an automatic gun, and move to the next room. Rinse, repeat, and be cautious when clearing out the remaining areas. When you leave, you will go to a passage that will let you repair the last piece of wire. There are 4 Germans guarding the door, but you can mow them down with your rifle.

Now you must talk on the phone (or communications). Your allies will warn you about a Panzer around your position. Take sticky grenades near you. The door will then crash open, and Germans will start to pour out. My advice here is take cover, and fast, because at least 3 pop their heads out of the building, and they can sometimes catch you off guard. Throw a grenade in the doorway that they come out of, because while only about 2 or 3 come out, there are more enemies inside the door. When you’re past that room, clear out a few more parts utilizing the same strategies and you should see the tank. Strategies for taking out the tank are:

- sneak around it, and flank it, picking off enemies at the same time
- head straight for it, and hope you are not shot
- sneak around it and throw smoke
- head straight at it with a smoke grenade

I have used all 3 strategies, and they all work. Use whatever one is best for you. When you get close, put a sticky grenade on it (hold X) and it will blow up in the coming seconds, but it is advised that you take cover before it does (to protect against foot soldiers, tank turret, and the blast radius of the bomb).

You will now learn of two more tanks:

The first one is a breeze, use the same strategies that were used for the tank you just dismantled. The second one needs a new strategy: Here you have MG42s and enemies on one side, and the tank on the other:

- If you have smoke, cut off one side and advance
- if you don’t have smoke, put pressure on one side, and stay covered against the other side
- once you’re up near the tank, instead of facing it, keep turning to guard against enemies who are shooting at you.
- stay in cover behind the broken walls if possible
- run away while defending against enemies when the charges are set, you may want to crouch behind a broken wall, or strafe backwards and forwards

Once the tank is blown up, still look out as there will still be a few stray German infantrymen. Once they’re dealt with, you can wait for the mission to end. Victory is yours.

IV. Railroad Station #1

Starting off as Vasili Koslov again, you find yourself moving through an above ground pipeline. This part is not too hard, however be aware that enemies will shoot at you through the pipeline from below, so keep moving, but move slowly to avoid an unfortunate brush with death. If you have the time, you can shoot Germans that you see through the holes of the pipeline, although you should try to keep moving. Shooting enemies here would only make them aware if your presence.

Once you’re out of the pipeline, you will find yourself in another building. Travel to the far ends, and you can find a table with ammo on it. Take what you need from it and move outside into the trenches.

This is the first time you will need your smoke. Throw one near the station just ahead: but when you go out of cover to do so, make sure it is safe to go out because there are MG42s located in the window. Advance slowly here, pick off a few at a time, and advance a little so they don’t re-spawn. Once you approach the train house, take out a submachine gun that you found on that weapons table, and start mowing down nearby enemies. When you get to the door, use your hand grenades. When you think it is clear enough, still beware: Its is not clear yet. Travel through the left doorway of the building, and you will be at a set of stairs. Make a slow advance up the stairs. It is recommended that you pick off a couple at a time, and move back down the stairs again. When you see that the enemy resistance up the stairs is fading, move up them. There is one person right near the top, and a few to the left. First pick off the one just standing there, and then throw a grenade or two to kill the ones to the left of you. If they still are alive, turn carefully to your left when going up the stairs, and shoot very quickly.

You should get a checkpoint here: Now you have to repel the German counterattack. The initial part of this is very easy, but when you get further, the Germans start coming faster and from all directions. When this happens, still shoot out of the window with your rifle, but occasionally guards the stairs against people who have penetrated the defense. When your team gives the go-ahead, move down the stairs, and out of the building. Use your grenades though, as there are camping Germans just outside the door, and inside too. Take out your SMG to deal with them, but proceed with caution.

When you’ve killed all of them, go out the back door of the station house (opposite from the one you came in from). You should have reserved a smoke grenade for this part. It is possible to do without (As I’ve done so), but you will most likely need one. Use the rail cars as cover, and sort of weave in and out of them. There is a Panzer just ahead of you. Here are some great tips for approaching and taking out the tank:

Approaching:

- With smoke: flank up the right side of the train yard
- Without smoke, proceed up the left side of the train yard, and move towards those houses at the back (left of the Panzer)

Taking out the tank:

- With smoke: Use your SMG to take out the nearby targets and use your smoke grenade to get closer to the tank. Throw the grenade as close as possible to the tank, and advance slowly. Once you have the charges set, look out for Germans, run away and take cover
- Without smoke: From the houses left of the tank, you’ll have to act very fast. Literally run like mad, and use your SMG. When you plant the charge, run like mad the other way (I know this works because I’ve done this on veteran without smoke)

When you’re done with the tank, proceed inside the other train station. There are Germans everywhere, so be cautious and use your fragmentation grenades. There is also an MG42 at the end of the station, so you should try to eliminate that threat ASAP. When you get further in, you can use the train cars as some fairly good cover. Once all of the Germans are out of the station, there is ammunition near the MG42 at the back. Reload and take what you need from the pile. When moving outside the left door, don’t run out the opening from the wall, there is an MG42 in the window of the building. Advance slowly through the opening, and try to stay as close to the building as possible. You should advance while either prone (lying down), or crouching. Trying to stand up here is suicide (especially on veteran). You’ll have to take out three objective points right now.

I. The same building you are sneaking around. You must clear it out.

- The entrance is to the left side of the building
- When approaching, watch out for enemies coming at you from the pipelines and trenches
- when moving inside, take out a couple of enemies, and move out. Lather, rinse and repeat
- use your frag grenades to aid in clearing out the house. Especially when you are going into another room
- always watch your six, and don’t expect the building/room to be clear. Always look in every possible place for hiding enemies

II. Once you cleared the building, the next objective is near the ground pipelines and trenches left of the building you just cleared.

- Use your rifle often, and put pressure on the MG42
- don’t ever run out, always advance with caution, while utilizing whatever cover you can salvage
- When the MG42 gunner is downed, advance a little and pick off a few of the others
- When you get close, use your hand grenades, and take out your SMG (If you are out of ammo, use a German MP40)
- Use the clearing out a building tactic I’ve taught you. Take out a few and then back up again.
- always aim down your sights

III. The final objective is to the right of the centre building, near a series of train cars. If you survived so far, this checkpoint should be a breeze.

- Use your rifle, and keep your pressure on the MG42
- Use the train cars as cover
- flank the enemies, and catch them off guard
- Do not go Rambo here
- proceed with caution

Once you have taken this checkpoint, you are done the mission.

Potential gamerscore: 60 points on veteran

Re: Call of Duty 2 FAQ + Guides
Fortress Stalingrad

V. Downtown Assault

Here you must re-take a series of apartment complexes held by Axis forces. When you start off, your team will break off, and you must turn right to get into the action. Smoke isn’t really necessary at this point, although you can use it if you are shaky. Advance up the street, and take cover. Always watch out from all sides, as sometimes it seems as though enemies just appear out of nowhere. Use your rifle a lot here, and when you get closer to the objective (The apartment on the right side of the street), try to pick up a German automatic, and use it. You have to clear out this building on the right. It has stairs with multiple enemies on the different floors. When you get up to the building, proceed with caution up the stairs (shoot a few, and go back down if you are damaged so that your health can regenerate. Once you clear the building out, you must now cross the street to the opposite building (The one where your allies are). When crossing, there is a Panzer tank in the road, so if you feel uneasy crossing without cover, throw a smoke grenade. Your allies say that they will cover you, but they don’t provide much support (especially on veteran). You must now pick up the sticky grenades in the allied building (they will be in the washroom). When you have them, you have a few choices to make before taking out the tank:

- rush straight in if the smoke you previously threw is still there
- throw a new smoke grenade if the previous one wore off
- don’t throw smoke and run in (carefully)

When you are near the tank, and ready to disable it, you should:

- watch out, there are enemies coming from everywhere
- use a submachine gun
- sneak around the tank
- pick the shortest, and smartest path, by observing the situation before you rush in

Plant the sticky grenade on the Panzer, and get out quickly. Head for the building you got the sticky grenades from, and take cover while at the same time looking out for stray enemies.

Your objectives will now be updated, and you’ll have to take out and recapture yet another apartment complex. This one is a bit trickier, you have an MG42 on the ground just right of the building. You also have enemies shooting at you from every single hole in the building. You have a few options here as to how you’re going to attack the building, pick the one that you are most comfortable with:

- take out the ground MG42 and head towards the right side of the building for cover
- take out the ground MG42, and head towards the door, and chuck grenades in the building
- take out the ground MG42 and flank left, and take cover behind some of the debris

When going into the house, you should always be careful. You should have grenades with you. Firstly, you clear out the ground floor, shoot some, and take cover, like I’ve said before, this is a great tactic for clearing buildings. When the ground floor is clear, head up to the top floor. Throw fragmentation grenades in to kill off a few, and then head up the stairs with some sort of submachine gun armed (either a PPSH or an MP44 that you picked up).

Your next objective is to aid your comrades as they storm the building across the street. Upstairs, there should be an MG42, use it. This part is straight forward. Mow down enemies, and if you are hurt, get off of the machine gun, and take cover. Once you are done. A tank approaches, and fires a round into the building. You should step away from the window if you want to live. Once the tank does this, go through the hole that the tank formed. Take cover behind something (use smoke if you have enough, or if you wanted to). Follow the tank into the next area (the place with a maze of broken walls. When trying to take out the tank, you should keep in mind:

- the enemies that pollute the area are dangerous, and they will pop out at any given moment
- the tank will circle the perimeter, so observe, and find the best way to attack (flanking the tank)
- use the broken walls for cover, and move in sync with the tank so it does not end up behind you, and so you stay visible
- when ready, carefully approach the tank, and get out quickly

Once the tank is destroyed, kill off any remaining enemies, and the mission will end there.

VI. City Hall

This is a straight forward mission, and given what you’ve gone through, it shouldn’t pose much of a challenge. Starting off, you will be in a street in which you have to attack City Hall. Just use your smoke grenades in the right areas (the areas where you think you will need them the most). Also, be aware, Germans love to hide in this level, so proceed with caution, and check everywhere. Fragmentation grenades work well to disperse hiding Germans, so use them when they are hiding.

When you arrive at City Hall, there are about 5 Germans waiting for you at the front door. Use your grenades, and approach with an SMG. If you get damaged, move back, and regenerate your health. Once you’re done, move to the door, plant explosives on it (press X), and move away from the door. You are now done the mission, travel inside the door and victory is yours.

VII. Comrade Sniper

This is the final Russian mission. It is pretty straight forward. Pick up the rifle that is glowing gold, and pick off the enemy in the left building on the second floor. Remember to hold your breath while sniping. Afterwards, you will have to hold off a lengthy German attack. Here are some great survival tips:

- Use the sniper right away, don’t let the Germans advance: Put pressure on them
- occasionally guard the doors using a submachine gun, because some Germans will leak through your defense line
- let your squad do some of the dirty work
- if your screen turns red, hide behind something (preferably a knocked over table)
- use your grenades for short-ranged enemies
- remember to hold your breath while sniping

Potential gamerscore: 60 points on veteran

The Tank Squadrons

V. Crusader Charge

Character: David Welsh

There is not much to this mission. Follow the on screen control commands, and practice using the tank. You will face one wave of enemy Panzers. The key things to keep in mind here is:

- watching where the gold stars on the map are
- getting the shot off before your enemy
- if you get hurt, hide behind something (whether it be a hill, or an exploded tank)

There is not much in the way of cover in this level, but let me tell you: If you play on veteran, one shot can kill you. If it doesn’t, consider yourself lucky and blessed.

VI. 88 Ridge

This is another tank mission. It will give you limited resources as far as cover is concerned. When you are hit, move down whatever hilly area you are on (this level is very bumpy), and only shoot when you are in range, and when your crosshair is red.

The first part will have you destroy a series of Panzers. For the best effect, wait until you are in range with them, and let your squad do a lot of the work for you if you are too timid.

The thing to look out for in this level are the AT rockets that some infantrymen (German) are holding. These are about the equivalent to a tank shell, and they can be very devastating to your tank health. Therefore, whenever you see one of these groups of infantry, it is smart to eliminate that threat quickly. The whole mission has you destroying tanks, and Flak88 guns, so it would be repetitive to talk about it much further. Just use the advice and tips I gave you, practice, and be careful, and you should be able to beat it in veteran difficulty in a matter of about 15-20 minutes.

Potential gamerscore: 60 points for veteran.

Re: Call of Duty 2 FAQ + Guides

Rommel’s Last Stand

Character: John Davis

VII. Armored Car Escape

If you are not prepared, this is a beast of a mission to complete on veteran. So play some easier missions to “warm up” before you go at this one, because some of the checkpoints in this mission are killer.

You start off pinned down in a building. Man the MG42 and start defending against the onslaught of enemies. When you get hurt, move away from the window. Also, when a grenade gets thrown in, you might want to get out of the way as well. Keep defending until and armored (German) vehicle appears. It will almost destroy the front of the building that you are in. You will have to flank it, and take it over. When the back door of your building opens, look out for the 3 or more Germans on the other side. Two will come in, but you will have 2 more on the other side of the door just waiting for you. Proceed with caution, and peg them off using your Thompson.

When you go outside, you should go in between the nearby alleyway. When you get out, the armored car will be right there beside you. Peg off the gunner with your Lee Enfield, and then throw smoke the other way to protect you and your team. When you get to the armored car, you will man the turret. Careful though, as this gun does overheat. Here are a few tips and things to watch out for while moving along.

Things to watch out for:

- Infantrymen carrying Panzerschreks
- trucks moving along
- the tank around the mid-point of the ordeal
- half tracks
- armored vehicles

Things you can do to protect yourself:

- watch the rooftops for enemies (rockets)
- always pay attention and look around
- don’t waste shots since the gun overheats
- be fast and accurate

When you get out of the armored vehicle (or should I say blown out), you have to advance with your team. Move fast, and accurately (follow the gold star). You’ll have to be quick because the Germans are closing in on you by the rear. Other than that, use typical combat techniques (smoke where you need it, know what gun to use at the right time, use grenades, use whatever cover you can salvage, etc). When you get further along, you will reach the final checkpoint, and will clear the mission.

VIII. Retaking Toujane

This is another one of the trickier missions if you don’t know what you’re doing. If you are patient however, you can beat this on veteran difficulty.

You start out in a jeep. As soon as you get out, all *** breaks loose. You have to capture a series of 4 Flak88 guns, an observation post, and a mosque. The first Flak88 gun is pretty simple. All you really need to do is use a couple of fragmentation grenades and have patience.

When you go for the observation post, there are Germans on the top and bottom of the building. Obviously take care of the ones on the bottom first. When moving up to the top (ladder near the balcony), be aware that there is a German literally right on top of you with a pistol. Shoot him, and the remaining enemies. Once you have captured the observation post, move on to the next Flak88 guns, and the mosque.

The second Flak gun is not too hard to take. If I were you I would use a smoke grenade here. It can be difficult to take out the enemies around the Flak gun, because there are enemies on the balconies surrounding it. Once you cut out the Flak gunner’s sight, take the fight to the balconies, and take out the enemies on the roof areas. Then you should be able to take the Flak gun without much difficulty.

Before reaching the third one, there will be a slight tank battle (thank god you are not involved in it). Just don’t get too close, because the enemy tank will shoot you. The battle ends with a German soldier shooting your ally with an anti-tank rocket. Head through the hole that the friendly tank made in the wall, and start fighting in the streets. The enemies are fairly concentrated at this point, and you should advance with caution (and grenades). When you advance a bit further, you will be able to see the third Flak88 gun. This is an easy one to take out, because the enemies are bunched together. All you really need to do it use a couple of grenades, and your Thompson (or MP40 depending on which one you have/picked up). Once you have this Flak gun captured, move right to take out the last Flak88 gun. The fourth Flak88 gun can be handled in the exact same way as the second (block off one side [either the Flak infantry, or the people on the rooftops] and then go for the other one).

Once you captured that point, there is one final thing to do here: Capture the mosque on the other side of town (use your gold star). When approaching the mosque, use your last smoke grenades if you have them. If you don’t, use the cover given to you that is scattered across the battlefield. When you get up to the mosque, climb the ladder, and kill the few Germans on the top of the mosque.

After, you would expect to have a counterattack, but miraculously, a friendly tank helps you out. The mission is now over.

IX. Assault on Matmata

This is my least favorite mission in the whole game. It is probably one of the, if not the hardest one in the game.

You start out in a Willies Jeep, and get ambushed.

Right away, head for the exact opposite wall from where you are (the one with the blown up tank blocking it). From here, you can easily be protected (somewhat) and have a clear shot at the enemies on the roof. From here, you will have to move out through the gate to the side. When you get through the gate, expect heavy resistance. Here are some tips:

- unlike some missions, do not run out at all, hang back for as long as possible
- look around, and you will see enemies all over the place: Take out the ones that put you in direct danger first
- use smoke if necessary
- when you do advance, take out your Thompson SMG and mow down close enemies
- use your Lee Enfield for the ones on the roof or in windows
- You will have to shoot fast and accurate to ever pass this part alive

When you’re done in this area, advance upwards, and you will see an armored German vehicle blocking the pathway. It is a working, manned vehicle, so take cover, and make use of your grenades to take out soft infantry. When you take out all of the infantry, the vehicle will move out of your way, and back up. You should pass through the gate, and get out of the way as well, because friendly tanks are to the rear, Throw smoke to protect you against enemy infantry, and then cut into the series of houses on the left. When you’re going through houses, use an SMG, but as soon as you exit the houses, switch to your Lee Enfield once again.

From here, German reinforcements will arrive, and you should take cover. As they start to come out, you should start picking them off one by one. When the coast is clear, advance through the set of gates up ahead, and get ready to take the anti-aircraft gun.

The enemies come in great numbers at you, so if you have a smoke grenade, use it. Using a smoke grenade here would help you out greatly in the long run. After you pick off the people from the rooftop (Use the Lee Enfield, you will need to shoot very fast and accurate on veteran mode), you will have to man the anti aircraft gun:

- when shooting, wait until the airplane is in range, but not too close because when you shoot it down, it will crash in to you and your squad
- move out of the way and seek cover if your screen turns red, but don’t stay in cover for too long, as airplanes are rushing overhead and strafing you and your team
- shoot above the airplane so that it flies right into the shot
- be patient, and don’t rush things

When you fend off the aerial attack, you will be done the mission.

Re: Call of Duty 2 FAQ + Guides

The Battle for Caen

Character: John Davis

X. Prisoners of War

Starting off this mission, you have to move across a town. You start out near a series of fences. These provide perfect cover. You will not need any smoke, or should I say “shouldn’t” need any. With that said, just advance slowly across the fences. Once everybody is dead (The Sten is a perfect weapon for this part), advance across to a street until you see a house. Germans pour out of here, but you can easily use your grenades to blast them out. Be cautious though. Artillery drops just in front of the house. Advance cautiously and quickly at the same time. When you get out, you will be in a pile of rubble (literally), it is swarming with Germans. Before you rush out into the open, there is an MG42 in the window. Wait for your allied soldier to throw a grenade in before you run out.

They are marked on your map, so giving their location is irrelevant. When you have eliminated the first one, cut left into another string of stone fences. You might want to use a smoke grenade. When advancing, move slowly, and watch out for the MG42. There is another one near the end of the fences that you should avoid too. Use a Sten or MP40 when traveling through, and use your Lee Enfield for eliminating the MG42s. Once you reach the end of that area, turn left and there will be a heavily guarded MG42 at the right side of the house, and enemies swarming the area. Your best bet is to flank right into the other open house. Careful though, as there are enemies in this house too. Eliminate them all, and start advancing towards the objective. Kill the people around the MG42, and for clearing out the house, use my house-clearing advice that I have stated before in other missions.

When you get to the star, your team will kick open the door to the house, and find prisoners, and a couple of Germans. Do NOT shoot the Germans, because they have surrendered. When you’re done, head with your teammate to the next gold star objective. You will meet light resistance here, so stay focused.

The objective marker leads you to a truck. Get in the back, and provide support for your driver. Notice there is also an anti-tank weapon in the back. Pick it up because you will need it for later.

All seems to be going smoothly, until you and your driver are ambushed. You must shoot fast and accurate (grenades are a consideration too). Try not to waste shots, because since you have no cover, reloading might mean death. About ¾ of the way there, a tiger tank will cut across. Use that Panzerschrek that you’ve found. Aim accurately and try not to miss, because it takes about 2 tank shells for you to die. You should be able to kill the Panzer tank in about 2-3 anti-tank rounds. Once this part is over, you will meet up with your team, and you are done the mission.

XI. The Crossroads

You start off this mission in France. There is an MG42 at the top of the road up ahead, so take cover behind the wall. When you do take cover, be prepared for an ambush from the house across the street. Carefully cross when this happens, and take out the infantry in the house.

For taking out the MG42, you need to use a smoke grenade. When you throw it, flank across into the left gutted houses. When you fight your way through the gutted houses (There are about 5 enemies), approach the house with the MG42, and you will find out that there is a Tiger Tank in front of the house. To eliminate this threat, you have to go into the house, and take the Panzerschrek on the top floor. There at least 5 enemies scattered throughout the home. Use your grenades to clear some of them out, and cautiously use a Sten or MP40 for the rest. When heading up the stairs, watch out because there are enemies behind and in front of the stairs. You have a better chance of living if you frag them out.

Once you get the anti-tank weapon, walk up to the side of the Tiger, and blast it through the window.

The next thing you have to do is go through the hole in the broken wall where Price is standing. When you go around the corner, you might need some frag grenades handy, as there are enemies everywhere. Don’t move too fast either, or get impatient. Impatience is what kills you on veteran, usually not player skill. Kill off the bunch in the houses and on the lawn.

When you’re done that, there are a few more houses with MG42s. At these houses, you will also have to hold off an enemy attack for some time. Use some smoke, be careful and sensible, and you will reach the next checkpoint because the enemies will retreat.

The final part is defending a barn. First you must clear it out, which isn’t hard if you’re being careful. Then you need to fend off 6 German counterattacks (all pretty small ones). They get slightly bigger as you clear them. The tips for this part are:

- man the MG42 in the barn window
- moving when a grenade is thrown at your MG42
- occasionally get off of the turret to watch out for Germans coming inside the barn
- use your own grenades to help clear enemies
-  go into cover when you are low in health

When you’ve repelled the enemies, you must then move back, because another tank is on your position. Just as long as you stay covered, you can wait it out and your allies will blow up the tank. You can also blow it up with an anti tank weapon. After this, the mission is over.

XII. The Tiger

You will start this mission in a small town near Caen. When you depart with two Sherman allied tanks, they get into a fight with a Tiger up ahead. Move to the bush on the right, and through the broken wall. Clear both floors of the building to your right, and then your allies will cover you as you move down to the next alleyway. When clearing out the house, use your Sten. There are a few on the bottom floor, and a few on the top floor. When clearing the top floor, be very careful.

Head to the exit, and go to building A (town hall). Your best bet is to flank to the back left entrance of the building. When clearing out the building, from the back entrance move up the stairs. Kill the people on the first and second floor, carefully, and utilizing your hand grenades. Once you have cleared building A, move on to the next objective.

Here is some advice for the next objectives:

The Flak88 gun:

- Use your hand grenades often
- since there are a lot of enemies, use some sort of automatic
- be careful
- go into cover if you get hurt
- take your time

The church:

- advance very slowly
- use frag grenades when up close and personal (throw in building)
- definitely use smoke grenades
- hang back, and kill off a few before you advance
- use an automatic weapon since there are so many people
- use the building across from the church for cover (shoot out of the window)
- use the same clearing buildings techniques you’ve learned

The post office:

- use a smoke grenade for the MG42
- (same other tactics as church)

The field HQ:

- make sure you hang back and observe the amount of enemies before you advance to it
- take cover behind bushes, and broken walls
- try not to waste ammunition

XIII. The Brigade Box

As soon as you start this level, run like mad because mortar shells are raining down on you and your squad. Once you reach the barn, split off and take cover behind the broken wall. You can advance two different ways:

- Through the field left of the Field HQ
- Through the set of broken walls to the right of the Field HQ

The safer bet is probably taking the broken wall way. Use your smoke grenades often as you approach the HQ: Because enemy resistance gets heavier. When you are near the HQ, take cover behind the shed to the right of the HQ, and pick off the MG42 in the window. When you have done that, proceed slowly to the front of the HQ, and use your frag grenades to kill the people to the front of the house. When you are inside, slowly kill people one by one, and clear each room separately. Now you must repel a German Counterattack. Here are strategies I used to pass this part on veteran:

- Picking up enemy ammunition before they start their attack
- shooting out of the windows
- looking and shooting out of all of the possible openings
- watching for enemies that might have gotten in
- immediately taking cover if even the slightest bit hurt
- being patient
- not giving up on it, I got it after a few tries

When you repel the enemy attack, you have one more task: Taking out a Tiger tank that advanced on your position. To do this safely, use every single bit of cover. Smoke grenades are not a must, but they should be used if possible. When you approach the tank, run like *** away when the charges are set. When the tank blows up, eliminate the last bit of resistance, and you are done the mission.

Potential gamerscore: 60 points for veteran.

Congrats! You are now a veteran of all of the British missions. Jolly good work Chap!

Re: Call of Duty 2 FAQ + Guides
American Campaign

Character: Corporal Bill Taylor

D-Day 1944

I. The Battle of Point Du Hoc

The first part of this mission, the beach landing is actually the least that you should be worried bout on this incredibly difficult mission. Once you get off the landing boat, you will stumble, and the game will have a 15 second cinematic that you have to watch. You squad will patch you up, and you can fight. The only real resistance on the cliff is an MG42 on the far left, and about 2 snipers. Once you’re done with them, head over to the gold star on your compass, and start climbing the ropes. Once you’re up, the real battle begins. You should hurry into the trenches very quickly to avoid getting killed. When you’re traveling through the trenches, there are a couple of things to watch for: The group of Germans that come through the trench, and the group of Germans on top of the trench in a semi-bunker. When those enemies are dealt with, you have to head over to the end of the trench. You will then find 2 MG42s on either side. Try to throw a smoke grenade in between them, and run like *** across by climbing over the fence. My recommendation is to go to the left MG42. From the left trench, kill the MG gunner, and move along the trenches. There are about 5 additional enemies in the trenches. When you leave the trenches, and approach the bunker, look out because there are about 7 or 8 enemies coming for you. Use your Thompson to mow them down, and then travel right into the trench, and take out the MG42 gunner. Then quickly turn around because there will be about another 5 behind you. Throw a frag grenade out the door, and that’ll handle them.

After this, head across the open “field” and join your squad mates. When you do, look out and take cover around the tractor where your team is, and they will radio into HQ. You now have to run across to the small group of houses to the left. When you do, it is like the street fighting you were doing in previous missions. So use smoke grenades, and blast your way through this area. You will now be at a place similar to the starting of the mission “Prisoners of War”. Just use the same tactics here. The only difference is that there is a half track that comes along, but it is not a big deal. Once you kill off everybody, make your way to the gold star on your compass (the French artillery guns), and plant bombs on them. You can now complete the final phase of this mission.

The final part of the mission has you eliminate bunkers around Point Du Hoc. The only bunker that might take a while to clear is the one with the MG42 at the front of it. For this you must have a smoke grenade handy, and use it. When you kill the MG42 gunner at the front, it is just like any other bunker. Use the tips that I gave you for clearing out buildings.

When all of the bunkers are dealt with, you are done the mission. Remember, only use smoke when you really need to. When I did it on veteran, I did not use my smoke grenades very efficiently, so I was stuck on some parts for ages and ages.

 Defending The Pointe

In this mission, you start defending the point from the intersection of a road near the cliffs. You should use the machine gun given to you. Some tips until the next checkpoint:

- Use the machine gun
- use your cover
- use your fragmentation grenades
- evenly protect both sides
- shoot fast, and accurate

After a solid stream of defending, you will be pushed back to a farmhouse. In the farmhouse, you will have to use the .30 cal in the window of the upper floor. Keep defending, and occasionally look behind you to make sure nobody got through. If you take any damage, go to immediate cover. After a bit of defending, you will be pushed back again, closer to the cliffs.

For this part, you have to defend against German armor in the trenches. You are pretty open in the trenches, so look everywhere for possible enemies. Also, use smoke for cover, you will need it for this part. The enemies come at you mostly from in front of you, but be aware that you will get the stray enemy that will come at you from the side. The most important thing to remember is watch your six, and use your common sense.

The final part of this mission will require you to defend the Pointe for 5 minutes until reinforcements arrive. What I did to stay alive:

- I never stopped moving, because you get cornered when you stand still.
- I threw grenades, and used my smoke grenades
- I circled along, and camped out in some of the bunkers and other trenches
- I waited by the entrance to the furthest away bunker, shooting any German that confronted me
- When the Tiger tank came along, I went prone in a trench and spun around, moving on my stomach
- whenever I did throw a smoke grenade, I would move to a completely different place (still covered by smoke) so that I wouldn’t have a bunch of enemies swarming my at once.
- I took out my SMG (Thompson) and used it against enemies inside the trench, and when I was out of ammo, I picked up and MP40.
- When it was down to about 30 seconds. It got real crazy, I just hid for the last moment, and killed people in the bunker doorway.

Once the 5 minutes is over, you will be relieved that you are done the mission. It is one hard one to complete on veteran.

III. The Silo

Starting out you are supporting your allies using a .30 cal. This part is simple, just remember that the targets will be hard to hit because you are shooting so far away. Fire wherever you see gun flashes. An MG42 will also appear, and you can shoot that person out.

Once your allies advanced, you must now join them. Look out in the window again for the MG42. Snipe him out of there quickly. Flank up the hill, and you should be at a road. You should also see objective A (stone farmhouse) close on your compass. Here are some tips to follow to capture this objective:

- use your grenades to blast nearby enemies. When everybody is gone from the outside, advance so they do not re-spawn. When heading inside, use the left door, but careful because there are at least 5 enemies in the room. Throw a grenade in and shoot the rest.
- When you’re inside the house, clear it like you would any building to this point, check everywhere because the Germans in this game love to hide.

The German Field HQ (F) should be behind the farmhouse. It is not too hard to clear. Here is some good advice for approaching, as getting up to it is a challenge:

- Hide behind the wall, and toss a smoke grenade, then head up to the left bushes in front of the HQ, and head inside. Nothing too technical here, just clear out the house using an SMG and hand grenades.

You can get to the next objective by going out the side door or the HQ. It is the house overlooking the fork in the road (D). Throw a smoke grenade at the house, and sneak inside. It is all straight forward from here. Careful though, as some of the enemies on the upper floor are hiding behind the stairs. Be aware of this.

From objective D, you can reach the post office easily (C). Sneak around the back, and then move to the front. Shoot the explosive barrels on the front porch, and move inside. When going to clear the upstairs, there are two doors, right and left of the stairs. Frag one, and march in the other.

Go to the back yard of the post office, to reach the barn (B). When entering the barn, throw a grenade in and watch the enemies scatter. Wait until your squad catches up to you for extra support. Then kill everybody using a Thompson or an MP40.

From the barn, you can get to the final objective, the sign covered house at the main intersection. Move out from the left stone fence beside the barn, and lie down behind the boxes in the road. Then throw a smoke grenade at the front of the house to divert the MG42’s shots. Then flank left, and start taking out the infantry in the house. When you do that, you will be at the dreaded Silo Sniping part: Here is what I did to pass it:

- I shot fast, and only reloaded when I needed to
- I made sure that the Germans could not get a mortar off
- Only gunned for mortar crew, nobody else
- If I got injured, I lay prone for a few seconds
- the only gun I used was the Springfield
- I was quick to notice where the next mortars were going
- When I died, I did not get angry
- had fun while doing it

Re: Call of Duty 2 FAQ + Guides
Hill 400

I. Bergstein

This mission is set in a small town near the foot of Hill 400. You and your squad must recapture it from the Germans so that you can make your descent up the hill the next day.

When you start the mission, follow your squad to the first house. The first house is your first objective. In it, there are about 5 Germans with MP40s. When going up to the house, watch the windows, because the Germans here love to shoot out of them. When clearing out the house, use a frag grenade, and clear out the rest using your Tommy gun (Thompson).

Move out the back door of the house, and turn to face the next house. It has an MG42 in the window, but it is really unprotected. Throw a smoke grenade to deal with the MG42 in the window, and move towards the car near the first house. When you pick off a few more Germans, move to the boxes in the middle of the area (Crouch when you are there). From the boxes, throw a grenade to take out ground targets (throw it towards the front door of the house). Now you have two choices, move from the boxes to the dead cow on the grass, or move from the boxes to the tractor just behind the dead cow. Depending on if the smoke you threw is still there or not, make your next decision. Move to the dead cow if the smoke is still there for cover, or the tractor if the smoke is gone. From cover, pick off the Germans in the window of the house, and move to the left side of it for cover. Now all you have to do is clear the house of Germans. There are at least 5 of them. Pick off a few at a time, and then take cover again.

Now move out the back door of the house you just took, and look on your compass. You have to take over 2 side-by-side houses. This is pretty easy: As you exit, take cover behind the sand bags in front of you, and throw smoke at the left house (The one with the machine gun in the window). Take over the right house first; it is not as hard to take. When clearing out the right house, the enemies are mostly crowded by the door. Throw a frag grenade in, and deal with the rest using an automatic (either the one you had, or one you’ve picked up from a dead German).

When you’ve cleared the two houses, head for Sgt Randall at the road block. After he is done talking to you, a mortar will stun you. Head right through the alleyway, and keep moving. Take cover behind the dead cow in the middle, and peg off the Germans up ahead using your grenades. After you clear all of the enemy resistance in the yard, head to the right side of the fence, in front of the house you must clear next. Clear this house, it isn’t too hard.

After you do this, you must now head out the left door of the house, and head right after that. You see a bunch of boxes near the house on the right, hide behind them. Watch your left flank for Germans (they will be right ahead of you if you’re behind the boxes). Move from the boxes, to the wall of the house in front of it, and peg off the flanking Germans using your Thompson. Move away from cover, and go towards the tractor carriage just to the right of the house, in front of the house infested by Germans. Hide behind here, and do exactly what Sgt Randall says, use your grenades to clear the house just in front of you. When the front of the house is clear, move up to the house, and clear the rest of it using your Thompson, or another German SMG (MP40 or 44) that you picked up.

Head to the house left of the one that you just cleared, and your squad will kick open the door.  There is no resistance in this house. Now head out the left door of this house, and move towards the house in front of you. Your squad will use a rocket to blast their way through the door. Take cover behind the boxes to the right (enemies will start attacking from the house by throwing grenades and shooting). From cover, move to the doorway, and chuck your grenades in the house. When you clear out some of the house, move inside to clear out the rest of it.

Exit this house, and head up the road. When you advance a certain distance, an MG42 will start to fire at you from the house. Use a smoke grenade, and advance so that you are left of the MG42. Take out the gunner and move to the side of the house behind it (right side). There are 3 Germans in that area, so peg them off. Afterwards, your squad will kick open the door, and now you must frag the people inside. When the grenades clear, move inside, and take cover to the left of the right door. There are a few Germans behind a tipped table. Let your team do the dirty work here.

Now you must wait until your team kicks open the door of this house. When he does, attack the church. Take cover behind the Panzerwerfer nears the gates of the church, and pick up an MP40. Use it and mow down the enemies in the church yard.

Your next objective is to destroy the Panzerwerefer, but I prefer to clear the church first (as it is a way harder objective). When moving inside the church, you have two options:

1. Enter through the side door.

There are about 4 Germans who catch you flanking, so kill them, and move upstairs (there are stairs to the left of the doorway that you are standing in). Kill the 3 enemies upstairs, and then destroy the Panzerwerfer by pressing X (planting explosives).

2. Enter through the larger, more noticeable opening of the church.

This takes a bit more skill. Start by throwing a hand grenade or two in to take out the enemies on the ground floor, then head over to the boxes in the church, and advance upstairs. Take out the 3 enemies upstairs, and then head over to destroy the Panzerwerfer.

Either way you still end up at the end of the mission. Regroup with Sgt Randall and you are done the mission.

II. “Rangers Lead The Way”

The First Bunker:
You will start out right in the action here. When Randall gives his command to run, you must do it or get barraged with Flak88 shells. Run up to the bunker (not very near to it, because there are multiple MG42s in the front of them). Move just far enough to throw a smoke grenade. Take cover behind either a fallen tree (go prone), or one of the concrete blocks (crouch). Throw a smoke grenade, and advance up the hill to the left. Plant charges on the bunker door, and move back a bit. Once the door blows off, throw your grenades inside to take care of the enemies inside. If the objective still doesn’t update, carefully move inside and take out the Germans with a gun, preferably an automatic. Next, move up the ladder outside the bunker, and continue along, following the gold objective star.

Heading over to the Second Bunker:
On your way over to the second bunker, there will be Germans first appearing near the boxes and barrels just ahead. Take cover behind the concrete barriers, and shoot them down. Use your grenades carefully here. I would not recommend using a smoke grenade, but frag grenades are a good choice for getting the enemies to move out of their cover positions. When you head further west, things begin to get interesting. There are Germans below you, and Germans to the left and right of you. To take out the lower ones, take cover behind a broken tree, and use your M1 Garand rifle. For the ones ahead of you on your level, use any frag grenades that you pick up, and careful, there is one German that tries to set up an MG42 on the ground, deal with him first. Utilize the cover around here, and you should be fine up to about the second bunker.

The Second Bunker:
This one can be a little pain in the butt to clear. Do the same thing as the first bunker, toss a smoke grenade in between you and the MG42s. When advancing up the hill this time, be aware of the Germans to the left of you. Take out an automatic weapon, and always face your left side when advancing towards the bunker. When you plant the charges on the bunker door, instead of just moving back, move ahead, and to the right. Head down the hill a little bit to protect you against the blast, and protect yourself against the Germans up the hill to the left. When the door gets blown open, head inside carefully, while hugging the wall of the bunker. Throw a couple of frag grenades in, and clear out the rest of the enemies inside cautiously using an automatic SMG.

Moving up to the Third Bunker:
When you’re done with the second bunker, move up to the area where the Germans are (just North of the second bunker [look at your compass, and objective marker]). They are not too hard to take down, just make sure you make use of the concrete blocks (use them as cover). Obviously, if you are hurt, move down the hill a bit, but not too far down because practically everywhere is littered with mines and minefields. Watch around for any enemy movements when approaching the third bunker. Head North-west towards the gold star on your compass, and the third bunker should be in sight, move up to it.

The Third Bunker:
This is a cakewalk compared to the second bunker. Plant explosives on the door, and move back from it, and down the hill a bit. Enemies start to rush your position as soon as you plant the explosives. Keep a frag grenade handy just in case. Clearing out the bunker shouldn’t be too difficult either, just remember that there is one lone German hiding behind a barrel in the bunker. Just wait until he pops his head out, or use a grenade to blast him out. In the next room of the bunker, there are about 4-5 enemies, deal with them using a German MP40, and then your objective will update. Move out of the bunker now, and look at your compass to figure out where you have to go next.

Moving up to the fourth and final bunker:
I found this part a bit difficult (to say the least). Head south up the hill. Don’t go up as a lone soldier, follow your squad, because the minefields are hard to find in this part, and your teammates seem to find the right pathway up the hill. When you turn around and head south (near the series of concrete slabs lining the North part of the hill), there is an MG42 on a sand bag in front of you. Quickly deal with the gunner, and find cover behind a concrete block. Now you will be crossing a crucial point. This was tricky to do: There is a half track that comes along the “road”, and there is a gunner on a machine gun on the top of the vehicle. Quickly kill him before you advance. If you don’t kill the half track gunner, you will find yourself sandwiched between two streams of enemy fire. Once the vehicle gunner is done with, advance south a tiny bit to the first series of concrete blocks. Take cover behind one, and move to another if you need to. There is a foxhole with sand bags and an MG42 to the left of you. Take the 3 Germans out in there, and take cover in the foxhole. From the foxhole, you should see another line of sand bags with Germans behind them. One by one, peg off the resistance (or frag them out of their hidey holes). Advance to the row of sandbags, and use an automatic to kill the Germans around the barrels near the bunker. Use your cover wisely, and you shouldn’t even need a smoke grenade for this part.

The Fourth Bunker:
This is a two-step process. Firstly, take down the front door with explosives, and move back. Keep in mind that there is an MG42 in a little hole right beside the front door that you should try to avoid. Once inside, eliminate the few Germans in the bunker, and plant explosives on the second bunker door. Move out of the way. When the door blows off, quickly throw a frag grenade or two inside (this part of it is heavily populated with enemies). Next move in and kill off the rest of the resistance. As you move out, there is one German that ambushes you, so turn around quickly.

You still have a few more objectives to complete:

Eliminate the Two Mortar Teams around the bunker:
There are enemies around the hill shooting mortars. This is easy, and you don’t even have to get too close to the team of Germans. For both teams, pick them off using your M1 Garand rifle, or any other single shot rifle for that matter.

Destroy the half track:
This is also easy, and you don’t have to do much work to complete this part. On your way over to the first mortar team, there is that halftrack that intercepted you a while back. Plant explosives on it and either run backwards (keeping in mind there might be resistance to the rear), or proceed forwards and eliminate the mortar team nearby.

Secure the Top of Hill 400:
Easy, eliminate any other resistance on Hill 400.

Regroup with your squad and you are done the mission.

III. The Battle for Hill 400

There is no real art or given strategy for most of this mission. You just have to look around, be careful and sensible. You start off defending Hill 400.

Sniping the Mortar teams:
This is pretty hard to do. The key is staying on the outskirts, and when you feel yourself getting overwhelmed with enemies, move to a different spot. Try to stay near some kind of cover, and use your Springfield to shoot the mortar teams. There are about 10 of them you need to snipe. I would steer away from using your smoke grenades here, as you will need them much more for the coming attack.

When the mortar teams are taken care of, you will have to fight for your life. As I said before, there is no real science to this, just fight to survive. Here are some crucial tips:

- have an anti tank and vehicle weapon with you. Later on you will be attacked by Tiger tanks and half tracks
- when taking out half tracks, go for the gunner, without the gunner, they pose no real threat to you
- always keep moving: Move and change positions often, because a lot of the time, you will find yourself being overrun by the German’s attack
- Use your smoke grenades, but save 2 of them for the very end of the mission
- try to stay close to the centre bunker for cover, and for safe shooting areas
- watch around you and watch your flanks all the time (look around in all directions)
- If you feel yourself being overrun, take cover, or change positions
- remember: If you are out of ammo, pick up one from a fallen soldier
- make use out of your frag grenades, use them wisely
- think logically: You can’t go Rambo here, you must plan your maneuvers and prepare for anything
- use a rifle for long ranged weapons, and a SMG for short ranges
- don’t give up: Dying on veteran difficulty is just something that happens, once you die, just plan around it and avoid your mistakes

For vehicles, here are some tips. You will face 3 half tracks and 2 tiger tanks. There is a Panzershrek located near the front door of your centre bunker. Take it, and use it wisely. The two smoke grenades I asked you to save will come in handy here for taking out vehicles:

Half tracks:
-
Kill the gunner quickly
- don’t get too close to the machine gunner

Tiger tanks:
- Don’t run at the front of one
- flank them
- use smoke as cover
- wait until the tank moves to the right spot, find cover and plan your assault

After the vehicles are destroyed, you will have to fight off the remaining Germans, and then airplanes will fly overhead, signaling the end of the mission.

Veteran achievement points: 60

My plan is so simple an idiot could have thought of it

Re: Call of Duty 2 FAQ + Guides
Crossing The Rhine (River)

Character: Bill Taylor

I. The Crossing Point

You start off the mission crossing the Rhine River in Germany. You have to man the .30 cal machine gun, shoot for the people on shore (crosshair should turn red if you hit an enemy). When you get to the shore, you will find out that the Germans have mined the riverbank, so you must get off of your amphibious vehicle. Press X to get off of the .30 cal. When moving up shore, take cover behind the broken trees to the left a little. Lie down (press B and hold it again), and chuck a smoke grenade in between the MG42 in the window, and the MG42 near the Flak88 gun. Wait for the smoke to fill before you start to move again. Go towards the Flak88 artillery gun. There are multiple Germans (probably about 7 or 8) around the Flak gun. Use your frag grenades to clear as many as you can, and mow down the rest using your Thompson submachine gun. There is also 3 Germans in the building, but they aren’t anything you can’t handle. When you’ve secured the first Flak gun, head through the door in front of you, and move through the house.

When you get to the window where your team is standing, you can see the second Flakk88 gun (look at the gold star too). Taking this one is a breeze: Just use the boxes for cover, and force enemies out from their cover by using the frag grenades that you have. Once you have captured the 2nd Flak88, follow your team to the next location.

The next location has you going through the streets for some concentrated street fighting. The only thing to keep in mind is that enemies love their grenades here, so get into a maneuverable cover, one that you can get out of quickly to avoid enemy grenades. When you’re through the 2 streets before you reach the second Flak88, turn right towards the gun. Careful though, as there is an MG42 off to the side that will fire at you as you turn. Use a smoke grenade if you feel unsafe. Clear out the remaining enemy resistance around the third Flak88, and head through the nearby door with your team.

Now you will have some more street fighting: First off, you will be fighting your way through another street. Use your frag grenades, and your M1 Garand for longer shots. Always remember to switch to a submachine gun when you are up close and personal.

When you are done with this part, cut into the graveyard up ahead, and take cover behind a tombstone. Pick off the attacking Germans from the front, and then turn around, because some will attempt to flank you from behind. When you’ve killed off everybody in the graveyard, take cover behind something, and pick off the Germans just outside the graveyard gates near the Flak88. When you’ve secured this gun, you can actually use the gun to take out the Germans up the road. Once you have done this, proceed up the road and turn left where the Germans are. Take cover behind a wall, and pick off the Germans behind the wall (should be about 3 to 4 of them). Then move through the gate, and you will be at another street. There are a lot of Germans, but using your frags and your Thompson (or a German automatic) to clear them out. Cut inside the house to the left, and use another grenade to clear the multitude of Germans in the next room. When everybody is dead, cut across the street, and follow your gold star.

The gold star is your last objective. Start shooting Germans, and about 10 shots later, 2 Tiger tanks will approach you from either side. Take cover, and get away from any windows, as they will blast you with their turrets. Some crucial tips and things to remember when taking out these 2 pieces of armor:

- Use smoke if you have it
- Be logical, find cover, even if the choices aren’t that great
- don’t attack the tanks head on, outmaneuver and flank them
- watch out for infantry as well as the tanks
- take cover if you are injured
- try to keep moving often
- don’t give up, dying is a part of veteran mode, don’t let it get you down

Once both Tigers are destroyed, you have to take out the rest of the enemy resistance in the town. Since you got this far, this part is a cakewalk, just don’t get caught off guard, and still think logically (use cover, etc).

Once you clear out the town, regroup with your squad (use the gold star on your compass), and there will be talking, and then the mission/game will end.

You will see the credits. There is actually a cool little gun battle in the credits, so I recommend watching it, it is very interesting.

Veteran points: 60. If this is your last mission, you will get 150 for completing the game, and 200 for completing the game on war hardened or veteran.

Congrats! You are now an American veteran!

Re: Call of Duty 2 FAQ + Guides

Hey everyone, here I will tell you briefly what you have to do in each game type, as sometimes people get it very confused.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Death Match -

This is an all-against-all brawl. Use whatever hiding places you can, try not to use rifles etc as there are too many targets, use weapons such as the MP44, which is the ideal weapon to use. The person who reaches the point limit at the end of this game is the winner, or the person with the highest points at the end of the time limit wins.

Team Death Match -

A very good, common game type, this one is all about communication and strategy. This is a team on team deathmatch, meaning the team with the highest score at the end of the round is the winner. Try to use strategies that I mentioned in my Tactics post, and if you are unsure what weapons to use please refer to my Weapons post. Be sure to get all the needed kills before your other team does!

Capture The Flag -

This game is commonly known throughout every other FPS games. Basically, it’s another team on team game, and you both have a flag. The objective is to get the other teams flag and bring it back to your flag to get 1 team point, and you are rewarded with 10 bonus points. To pick up the flag simply run into it, to capture run into your flag which is at its original base, but you must obviously have the flag first. If you get killed their flag will be dropped and the enemy will then be able to see where it is on their radar, and you will respawn

Note: You cannot pick up your own flag.

If the other team have your flag you then have to find where the flag holder is and kill him, he will then drop the flag and you can return it. You are awarded 2 player points bonus for returning the flag.

To return the flag walk into the flag and it will be returned.

If the game is out of 10 points you need 10 flag captures to win.

Head Quarters -

A very good thought out game, some people get confused with what you have to do, so here’s the low down:

It’s a team on team game.

Firstly, you wait 15 seconds for the headquarters to spawn, these are little boxes that you have to stand in a certain perimeter of to gain the headquarters. Be sure to be hidden as the other team will want it as well.

Then, depending on what happens it can go 2 ways:

If you get the headquarters, you have to make sure you don’t die or people don’t shut it down, and try to keep it alive for as long as you can. You are rewarded 1 HQ points for each second you keep it alive. If you get killed while you have the headquarters then you won’t be able to respawn until it is shut down/you defended it successfully. To defend it successfully just keep the headquarters going for about 120 seconds.

If you don’t capture it however, then you have to either kill all the opposing team, or stand in the perimeter of the headquarters and wait for the bar to go down. If you shut it down successfully your team is rewarded with 10 points, however if the opposing team defend is successfully you get no points.

As soon as the current headquarters is gone, another will respawn in 15 seconds.

Also, if you get killed and you don’t obtain the headquarters then you have to wait 8 seconds to respawn.

Search and Destroy -

This is a very innovative game, another team on team game.

Okay if you go Allies you have to find targets A and B which are usually trucks/tanks/cars etc (are located on your radar) and then you must find the explosive point and hold X (will appear on screen when you can do this) until the bar fills.

You must then protect that from any Axis teams destroying it, you must keep your eyes peeled and your listen out as you can hear it if you are close. Note: You will not be notified when someone is defusing your explosives. If your explosives get defused/the opposing team kills your team then you lose the round.

To win the round you must wait until the time (located to the right) expires and then the bomb will explode, or you can kill the whole of the opposing team. Each game has a certain number of rounds (min = 5) and if you get killed in the first round you will be dead until the next one.

If however you go Axis, then you must protect them from the Allies planting the bomb, to do so you must eliminate the whole team. If the Allies plant a bomb, you must either eliminate them all and then you still have to defuse the bomb, or you can just defuse the bomb while some are left alive.

After this happens the round will be over and the next one starts. The first team to complete all the rounds in succession first wins the match.

Re: Call of Duty 2 FAQ + Guides

Hey Everyone!

I have been questioned allot lately with people asking me what strategies and tactics to use against either teams or individuals. Below is a bunch of strategies all the beginners and maybe even some experienced players can use. They are all effective and all tactics are made by me, through gameplay experience. I personally do not object to anyone correcting any errors I have made as long as they do not flame me, as I am only trying to help.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Basic Tactics

All round tactics that can be used in any game.

Take Cover - Use any cover where possible, after all, a wall can take more bullets than a man.

Stick 'n' Move - Whenever going for an enemy, hit, kill and move, otherwise you might get flanked as everyone knows where you are.

Subtle than Sound - If there is an enemy that hasn't noticed you, always melee attack, never draw attention to yourself as that could lead to a point lost, remember: A point lost can mean a game lost. Also, remember to always sneak, as enemies can hear your movements as well!

Camouflage - Blend in with the environment, it makes being seen and killed around 60-70% less possible. If you are American hide in grass and fields, or if you are German stick to grey walls. Also try to find dead bodies that are the same team as you, as you can go prone and hide in them.

No show-boating - Don't try and be clever by trying to do a cool kill, just get the kill the easiest way possible, as it could cost the game. If you kill a person don't show off by shooting their dead body or "teabagging" as you will take you attention of your surroundings and get killed easy.

Concentrate on individuals - If you see 2-3 enemies don’t spray bullets and pray for the best, concentrate on one at a time, also don't panic, this is a very common error, they panic, hide and don't know which one to go for, jump a little, throw a grenade so they got to move making it harder for them, take cover, and flank them.

Adapt to the game - If you are new to the game, then get used to the levels, explore, know your way around, after all, gaming is all about fun! The most fun you can have is if you're winning, otherwise it gets very frustrating!

Keep Cool - A lesson I had to learn as well! Keep cool, and don't lose your temper, otherwise you just get gradually worse and worse as the match progresses. But unfortunately 3 of my mics have deceased due to my short temper when I first had this game!

Shot Decision - If you know and see you can't make a shot, don't take it, just let the enemy move until you can get it, otherwise you could give away your position.

Map Judgement - If you are on a small map, don't snipe, use a machine gun is much more effective, just use common sense and it'll make sense! Same goes for the other way around, if its a big map e.g. Caen don’t use trench guns because odds are you are more likely to encounter an enemy long range than short.

"Sly" Places - Once you are used to the maps, you will find little sneaky places e.g. a roof in Toujane, Tunisia has some holes in the sandbags, and you can kill an enemy on the opposite roof. You can see a very wide range of places, but there is little chance of them seeing you, again you have to know your levels before you try this.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Deathmatch

Tactics used for deathmatches.

Perimeter before centre - Stick to the sides of the map, never go in the centre, as it's a commonly watched place from good vantage points and you can easily be picked off, keep to the sides and watch the centre for anyone who goes there.

Look in common places - Always look in places which are used commonly e.g. the MG42 window in Burgundy, make sure you check, as it can get you a kill, and save you a life if you decide to cross its path.

Select an advantageous weapon - If everyone else is using a certain type of weapon e.g. long range (Snipers/Rifles) then use a semi-short range e.g. Machine Guns, preferably MP44, and get up close as it is hard to hit someone with a rifle when they are up close, so just a burst (3 Rounds) should do the job (Remembering the Subtle than Sound rule).

Practice - If you are looking to be in a clan, or are in a clan, then Deathmatches are only good for practice, as clan matches obviously require team work.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Team Deathmatch

Tactics that can help in Team Deathmatch.

2-1-1 Tactic - This is very effective, it consists of 2 Attackers, 1 Floater/Mid-Ranger and 1 Defender/Coverer. For instance if I were German, then your attackers take an MP44, The Floater takes a Gewehr 43 and the Defender takes a Kar98k. Your 2 Machine Gunners go out and hunt, in the midlands etc, The floater gets a good, low position e.g. in grass and picks off anyone he can see/crosses his sight. Finally, your Defender takes a good high position e.g. in a building and picks off anyone in range and makes sure that if the attackers are in trouble, he warns them and helps them, or if he sees an enemy hide behind a wall that he cannot get then he tells the attackers to hunt him out.

Teamwork - Obvious but Vital, communicate with your teammates, making sure they know if any enemy is around/nearby, tell them what you are doing and have them do the same.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Capture The Flag

2-1-1 Tactic - (See Team Deathmatch) Only difference is one attacker gets the flag and the other defends him all the way back, very effective in capture the flag.

Eyes on the flag - Make sure one person is always looking at your flag, and if one of your teammates has the flag, make sure one person is with him all the time, incase you are near the flag and he either needs cover or he gets killed and the person who was covering him can pick up the flag and carry on.

Keep the flag hidden - The flag carrier must remain hidden at all costs, if someone runs past and they do not see you do not attempt to kill them, you could either miss and get killed, kill them and they watch the killcam and find where you are or their teammates will see the red dot on their radar and find you. Just simply throw a grenade, or tell your teammates to get him, you should only shoot if they see you and attempt to kill you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Headquarters

Here are tactics for headquarters, a basic, but very skill requiring game.

Smokes - Don't throw a smoke when you are about to capture the headquarters, otherwise they could steal it off you very quickly and you won't see them, instead, get all 4 people on it facing the possible ways the enemy can kill you, and watch out for grenades.

4-Person-Rule - Whenever establishing or destroying headquarters, always get 4 or the maximum people onto it, this makes it faster and safer.

Grenades - Don't waste your grenades at the begining by throwing them randomly, this only gets a kill around 15% of the time, instead, wait for the Headquarters to appear, if it's away from you, throw your grenades in that general direction, leaving about 5-6 seconds between each grenade throw to optimize the chance of killing someone.

Grenade Spots - Vital to the game, once you have acquired the headquarters, find a spot where the enemy can't see you if near the headquarters, but if they start to destroy it you have the right altitude, angle and length to throw a grenade and effectively kill them.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Search and Destroy

Attacking

2-2 Tactic - Make sure 2 people go to A and 2 go to B, decide which one you are going to take out, so if the people in A fail you can rely on the team at B.

Variations - Don't keep going for A/B all the time as your enemies will know and all of them will watch that spot and take out anyone that goes there.

Defending

Eyes on Explosives - Get to a comfy position and watch the explosives, also keep the volume up so you can hear if someone starts to plant the explosive.

A and B - Make sure you get at least one person guarding each, reducing the chance of the charges getting setup.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: These are just strategies, these will not improve shot accuracy / effectiveness, the only way to do so is to practice.

Thank you for reading, and again please don't flame.
