If you want the short version, the "winner" - nz Halo Prodigy - was a level 25 at the end of the comp, I was a level 44. Highest level possible to attain is 50.

So as many of you know, recently there has been an online competition run by Samsung for Halo 3 FFA, run from April 1st - late April 14th through matchmaking. I played a fair amount during this time, and on the 14th I ended up sitting at level 44.

Now you must understand that when you start getting in the higher levels, you start consistently getting matched up with the same NZers/Aussies and the amount of people at these high levels is very small. Out of the people I was playing nearly every game the closest NZer I ever matched up with was a 42. Also 2 of my friends were at a high enough level to be getting matched up with 40's (they were in the 40's) and they also said the next highest NZer they played with was a 42. Throughout the duration of the competition, I would ask them if they had seen any players higher than my level to track and see if any other players were, and how much I would have to play to beat them. The answer was always no.

So the running time from the comp finishes. I wait to be contacted. After the date I was supposed to be contacted ("on or around the 21st of April"), and the date the final was meant to be played (30th April), I talked to one of the guys at Team Sidewinder (which I rep the Halo team for, http://www.teamsidewinder.com/news.php) who had connections with Xbox NZ. He said they were still waiting for Microsoft US to outline the winners. I waited some more. Nothing happened.

The other day on a different forum, nz Halo Prodigy posts referencing how he won the online tournament. I thought it was really fked up since I, nor anyone I know of had really heard of him before. I asked him what level he was at the end, he said 25. I told him I was a 44. He said wtf. I said wtf more.

Before you ask, I checked out for everything required in the Terms & Conditions. I was 18 before registration date. Citizen of NZ. I downloaded the gamerpic required to enter very early. There's absolutely nothnig I can think of to disqualify me from the comp.

Just to give a bit of background on myself, I've been playing Halo at the top level for nearly 4 years. Out of the tens of events (LAN) I've attended, I've never once placed lower than 2nd. At the only Halo 2 FFA comp last year (LAN) I placed first. I'm part of the renowned Team Sidewinder. I feel like I deserve this more than anybody in NZ.

If you're thinking maybe they went by win ratio, they didn't. From the terms and conditions - "For Players, stage one will begin at 08:00 on April 1, 2008 and end at approximately 19:59 on April 14, 2008.   At approximately 19:59 on April 14 2008, the Intl Tournament playlist will be recorded, and the top ranked player from the eligible Players, will be identified." Even if it was, I'm confident my win ratio would be very high.

Not to mention, by the looks of it, the people he played in the final were not good at all. Winning by over 10 kills? Please.

What possible explanation is there for this, other than a HUGE MOTHER *** *** up on Microsoft's part? nz Halo Prodigy now gets, a 40" HDTV, Xbox 360 Elite with a 120 GB HD (and I just got 3 red fking rings) and other stuff.

Put yourself in my situation. How would you feel?

Pretty much the T&C's arent at all accurate if Zeth didnt win this since he was indeed the highest rank in this playlist from NZ and im sure tonnes of people can tell you the same thing. Anwsers please.

I would be really angry if I was the rightful winner of that tourny... massive TV worth over a grand etc etc. This is pure haggis and I feel that whoever is responsible for giving away the prize should be fair enough to give something of equal compensation to the legitimate winner.

I also participated in this competition and can personally attest to having seen Zeth at a higher level than me by the time i had finished. My level was level 41.

There is just no way that the current NZ champ can be the correct title holder and Microsoft should be held accountable for misjudging something so badly. It's not like both guys only had a couple of levels difference - the gap is huge.

This needs more attention then what its getting, and being Zeth's friend and unfortunatly online target practice i can fully understand why he'd be miffed. Microsoft owes an apology and to switch champs big time, currently this is a croc.

The thing is though that the same has happened here Australia. Omega Adz was the highest level (in the 40's) yet someone in there 20's was selected to go through to the final for Australia. And you can assume if they stuffed up both Aus and NZ then the other Asian countries got screwed over as well.

So if they were to compensate zeth (wich by the looks of it they should) then they would have to do the same for at the very least Australia and prob the other two Asian countries.

this is *** ridiclous ZethN was the winner for NZ with level 44 and Sql Adz was the winner for Australia with 47.

sql Adz was actually the highest level in comp, so what *** happened MS - this deserves a response you have broken your Terms and Conditions
