I feel Pac-Man is the ultimate winner here, its simple and easy. Ms. Pac-Man I feel is a sad attempt to keep things going, but w/e I bought it, its all good. I love the love story haha

Not sure why I'm replying to this, as I'm sure most people agree with me and wouldn't bother, but Ms. Pacman is a better game.  Changing boards, for one, and faster gameplay, for two, makes the sequel (unofficial sequel, originally, i just read.  the wiki article on it tells you something you may not have known) a superior game.  Granted, it's not exactly original, compared to the original (obviously), but just comparing the two games for what they are, the sequel's better. 

Ms. Pacman is slightly better than Pacman, for the reasons the poster above has stated. But the Pacman I played on the Amiga 500 was better than both. (More levels still)

P.S. And were you referring to Super Pacman as being the "proper" sequel? That game was cool.

The way I see it is most people sucked at pac man so they made ms pac man for the amateur gamer crowd, improvements in the game were inevitable since they got feedback on the original games

The Ms. owns the Mr.  Different boards, actual AI in the ghosts instead of set patterns are just a couple reasons.

I would have to go with Ms Pac-Man also-the best parts of the original, with some needed improvements.

Pac-Man looks better... and Ms. Pac-Man plays better... I say Ms. Pac-Man for the better game. (but both are good games)
