Finally after a long wait I picked up Hail to the Chimp. First off for those with ADD it is by far the best party game the 360 has yet to see. It shines in offline Co-op, you will end up laughing at some point if playing 4 player same screen! Also it is a good game to introduce to casual gamers like a girlfriend or child. At the same time it holds enough complexity to entertain long time gamers as well.
Gameplay: It has multiple game types and unique maps each of which can be mixed and matched. Flair (Items for your character to wear) acts much like the Bomberman costumes item pick ups and adds to the replay value of the game. The game feels like basic version of powerstone in which you have fun party game modes to play. You collect and lose "clams" much like Sonic games. Clams are the key on every game, but much to my surprise there was a lot of variety in what to do and how to use them. The menu system in the game is fresh and creative and hopefully the style will be copied by others in the future. Level design is one of the brightest features of the game. Each stage feels unique and fresh with different challenges and traps.
Negative parts: Xbox Live games are very hard to find right now. Partly do to lack of players, part is the lack of a search for "quick game" feature which limits your pool to search from. Some backgrounds can be a busy and distracting at times making it hard to locate your character on the screen (you do seem to adjust to it after a few games). Some of the humor can be hit and miss. But there is tons of VOs so it is expected some of it would not be as clever as others, and it will keep you more entertained than annoyed and can be skipped if wished so nothing to worry about. Small gripe stat screen text too small to read on most TVs. Single player might get old after a while but looks like you can pick it up after a rest and enjoy it again.
Overall if you want a same screen 4 player game to enjoy at gaming parties this is a great title to pick up at a good price.
