That's because this game is really set up for a friend-invite style multiplayer.  On top of that, you got region lockouts on the multiplayer.  You live in Canada, (like me) you can only play with other canadians.  The LOOPHOLE is you change your locale in your settings in your dashboard you can play with that locale.
