DOOM 4: WANTS & CHANGES? (ONLINE&STORY)
Im excited to hear that there will be Doom4 .which is in essence Doom2:*** on earth because doom3 was a next-gen remake...i want to see the statue of liberty covered in demonic techno-junk and open world type of gameplay...because instead of being confined to the claustraphobic halls of the Mars base , you should be able to run through city streets ,buildings, sewers ,fields etc.. .i am a big fan of Doom eversince i first played it when i was 10 yrs old...and i know its a sole survivor type of game where your the only person on earth fighting countless demons..but this is the next-gen...surely there are survivors on earth...reinforcements ( i can understand being the only survivor on mars base because of the distance of transport) but i think you should have squad members fighting side by side and one by one getting slaughtered off..these are just my opinions and i want to hear from other Doom fans...long time fans and newcomers tell me what you think!

Dude don't depress us with this Next Gen junk. This isn't some kiddies Call of Duty 4 this is DOOM. The day they make it free roaming will be the day DOOM dies.

Save the Next gen junk for COD or some Halo... ruining the classics is just bad, bad bad bad!!!

wow.....please obtain the capacity to understand this....ok open world is different than free mode or sandbox such as you can have a game that is straight forward objective based but still your not confined to one a one way path to get to the objective but instead have different means of getting the objective done....ok now that we have that out of the way and you understand..next gen crap....sounds like my grandpa when he talks about record players. '' oh you darn kids with your mp3 players" come on your a gamer not some bitter outcast..im talking about how the planet earth is NOT all hallways and rooms and vent-shafts...it isnt a cramped mars base any more...its planet earth..so there should be city streets..buildings..trees..fields understand?? and in addition to that..on mars base the only reason why your the only person is cuzz sarge is always 2steps ahead of you and its so far from earth to recieve reinforcements....but keep in mind my forgetful fellow,,this is earth..we have reinforcements ( not alot but atleast enough to be able to fight along side a squad)...so next time you want to try and twist the words i say you can sit back and realize what im saying....im just as much as a doom fan as you are if not more...if doom was free roam ....i would totaly agree if i was saying that it should be free roam..so i understand your approach towards me .no hard feelings about what i said earlier in this....it is a classic and im hoping ID continues to keep its flagship title intact and pureSmile [:)]

I understand what you mean. But I think Doom should be retained to closterphobic hallways and scary things like that. I also think Doom should remain to the classic Ultimate Doom and Doom II ways, Doom III was amazing don't get me wrong! But I like the way they did the originals. I say Combine Doom III with Ultimate Doom and Doom II.

sounds good..im not saying there shouldnt be anymore claustrophobic hallways...because that would just be horrible..but inbetween the tight hallways to keep peoples attention and add more ambience and atomosphere there should be SOME open areas..instead of same old same old repitive routines..but i really still want there to be tight corridors

Re: DOOM 4: WANTS & CHANGES? (ONLINE&STORY)
Based on what IGN said:

"He spoke about Doom and Rage, and how that while both games are based on the company's new id Tech 5 engine, they will look very different from one another. In technical terms, he said that Rage is a 60-hertz game, while Doom is a 30-hertz game. Basically, Doom will run at a lower frame rate on purpose, which means that it can pack more detail in each frame."

I think it's safe to say that we'll be seeing open areas in Doom IV.  If you haven't seen the Rage trailer on IGN, take a look.  Rage already looks incredible, with huge outdoor environments and perfectly rendered character models.  Now they're saying that they're going to have to cut the frame rate in half on purpose just to fit in all the details of Doom IV?  Sounds like Doom IV is going to bring id Tech 5 to its knees, and that's an exciting thought.  I imagine we'll be seeing some levels that aren't unlike the Icon of Sin level from Doom II.  This is going to be epic; a true sequel to the originals.

Crying [:'(]  tears of joy..finaly a doom fan who understands my want and hunger for an epic version of the originals...i like the fact of an open environment because 80% of doom and doom2 and final doom WAS in an open environment..so just because doom3 exhausted the claustrophobic base scene why should they repeat it? keep the tight hallways but all im saying is it would be nice to add some of the doom ''eldritch'' type style of atmosphere..now finaly one that understands of the things i speak.! kudos SOVER1GN

Quake 3 arena runs at 30-hertz and is blazing fast! Also Doom 4 will not run at a lower frame rate.Doom 4 will run at 30-HERTZ not 30-FRAMES PER SECOND. HERTZ means ticks not fps. Looks like most people are getting the tick rate confused with frame rate. TICKRATE means the game updates the level 30 times a second while FPS is how many times a second the image is rendered by your graphics card.Email [E]

Re: K.I.S.S.
i guess your idea of "Original" or "Simple" is going back to using sprites and 2d graphics huh...when im finished with my time machine you can go back to the 90's...doom3 was EXTREMELY faithful to the Doom universe. there would be nothing i want to change except for maybe some more outdoor type maps but that will be more appropriate for doom4...but since Chronologicaly Doom3 is really in story line essence Doom..then doom4 will really be Doom2:*** on earth... so maybe they'll have some outdoor areas. hopefully they get rid of that Half-Life2 rip off of a Gravity Gun that RoE had

Re: K.I.S.S.
really i think if you want outdoor crap play quake 4 and enemy territory doom was great and is still great fun scary bloody congested yet sometimes open thats what doom usually is and needs to stay that way...tho i do have to agree i dont like congested hallways all the time since like...the stupid spiders and imps and zombies and so on fly all over you stupid imps hoppin on me well w/e doom is and will be always a classic and should stay true to 1 2 and 2 1/2 (master levels) 3 was a great jump to he next gen tho i will admit fun and still very scary tho the graphics kinda suck around the hand area...but yea Doom and Quake are great Wolfenstein is also good (i like the futuristic horror better which is why doom wins overall)

i really hope you have no intentions of getting into any of the "design" aspect of the video game industry..you would just be a cancer to games...lets look at it logically ... doom4 is in essence doom2"h3ll on >>earth<< "  earth,  is..... an OPEN environment...you dont need cramped hallways because of air pressure and all that other stuff...in order to make doom4 better than doom3 they going to need that " out door crap" there would be no way possible the entirety of the game would be held "inside" of something... earth is not built like that... the only way you can stay in a cramped area is if they decide to set the ENTIRE game in a metro tunnel which im sure you would get hard about cuzz your lame and we want good games ..this game WILL have out doors ... so maybe you can do some modding and make it so you can only play in metro tunnels and sewers...just dont share that sherm stuff with us

Re: K.I.S.S.
I also agree with those that would prefer to keep Doom where it belongs...indoors!  The best part about Doom wasn't the monsters...we have seen great monsters over the years in so many FPS games that there is no good place to start...but what made Doom so great was the claustrophobic feeling you experienced when you turned a corner and it's you, an Imp, two walls close by and the only place to go is backward...into the waiting claws of a *** Knight!  THAT is what Doom is all about!

If you want good outdoor gameplay, check out the Crysis series or Far Cry series, but please leave Doom alone!
No matter how much you beat Teresa Chazar in Doom 3, she will NEVER go away!

doom 4 hell on earth
actually doom 3 cnt hav a proper sequel in a way cause doom 3, roe was completly 2 different stories but of course doom 2 isnt gner be like doom or doom 3 like doom 4 cause its gner be completly new, exciting, exhilirating but watever happens it best be hell on earth or i'll make hell on earth come true.lol

anyway doom 4 should hav all the weapons from doom 2 in nxt gen look also all weapons in doom 3 will probably get a update to their models to look nicer, every monster from doom 2, more, god im dieing to find out wat the nxt soundtrack is cause doom 3 soundtrack was awesome but this time maybe we might get the old remixed sounds from doom 2 in the bkground kinda like a camo somewhere or maybe if we are all lucky we'll be able to play doom 2 on doom 4.lol
