Bought it - it's really good

Wow, I'm really enjoying this title. Boom Boom Rocket + Zuma.

I haven't tried the DDR dance pad with it yet, tho.

Wait a minute...are you the senior editor over at Gamestooge.com? You're that 38 year old guy from New york who writes about games right?

Eric - independent games are to be encouraged. Its annoying that a kid can just post stuff like that with no attempt to back it up with reasoning. Judging by your gamercard you are certainly not adverse to playing games that may or may not "suck", so your hypocrisy is also rather annoying.

Support the little guy by buying their games or offering "constructive" criticism.

For what its worth, I applaud the attempt at something newish and kinda like it but the puzzle/rythym combo doesn't really sit well together imo.

XBLA demos don't show up on your gamercard anymore.  I have played this game.  (smirk)

I don't give a crap if this was developed by an independent studio.  Make a good game and I'll want to buy it.  I'm not going to say a game is good out of pitty.

Well I've just been playing the demo and really starting to enjoy it once I got the hang of it. At first I just couldn't get the timing right and started blaming the game music, haha! but once I got with the rhythm it was great! I think I will be buying it.

I got your point(a poor point at that).  If you want to like crap games just becuase they were made by an independent studio, be my guest.

I saw the pictures and description for this and thought it looked stupid.  Then, I saw a video clip and my opinion wasn't changed.  I've got auto-downloads on, so I wound up with the demo anyway, so what the heck - tried it out.

That was six hours ago, and I just quit playing it.  Wow... don't judge this until you've tried it, it's awesome.

I really didn't like this game, the demo got old quicky and the dancing animations, while moved smoothy and animated well, were really lame.

You still haven't come up with anything intelligent to say. What don't you like? The controls? The concept? The graphics? Otherwise you just sound like some whiny child who thinks everything that isn't to his taste sucks. And that, little boy, is no way to go through life.

The game simply has nothing to do with break dancing.  The character in the middle could be replaced by a guy picking his nose and the game would play exactly the same.  Inclusing break dancing in this game seems to be an afterthought and not something included from the beginning.

Re: Bought it - it's really good

I played this demo last night and I must state before anything else that I was biased towards liking it from the start. Having grown up in many of the neighborhoods where rap and hip hop first originated (during the very time frame it was originating), followed by all the people break dancing on card board boxes every other park you passed - well let's just say I was looking forward to this as it looked like good clean fun.

Sadly I was disappointed. While the music was "ok" for the genre it was supposed to represent, I felt the over-all presentation was slightly off. For example, the developers for some odd reason chose to clutter up the animations (wonderful animations I might add as I too am into cartooning and can appreciate them) with all of the on screen buttons and beatniks. Half the time you're so busy watching for those buttons and beatniks that you simply cannot appreciate the animations or the dancing going on in the background.

I dare say they could have just implemented some manner of flashing / pulsing lights in the background and it would have distracted much less from the combos. As it stood, I felt more like I was that guy who showed up to a dance off too late, got stuck at the back of a very tall crowd and who kept missing all the cool dance moves because he was too busy looking out so that no one stepped on his brand new white Adidas shell tops. I just couldn't enjoy any of the dancing because of the constant puzzle solving with it's relentless assault.

As a puzzle game it's definitely interesting however. It does have some interesting components that make it up. However, I feel this title needs more refinement.

If it was free, I'd definitely download it. But not for 800 points and Bionic Commando looming in the not so distant future...

Well that's my take on it. I'd say a 7/10 for me.

Nice! I think I am going to download this later today.

I interviewed one of the devs for my blog and it seemed like a really interesting game.

No problem lol. (Just my opinion on the demo I played of this...it's enjoyable for some mild passing of the time, but I fear the long term enjoyment for more hardcore players might be lacking just a bit)

WarPath Ck is correct. Nice review. I was debating getting it with the 1,000 MS point I won, but your review was very helpful. Why is this masquerading as a dance game when it actually is a puzzle game is beyond me. And the Million Dollar question is how come no-one has emulated the greatest dance game of all time..Bust A Groove. For goodness sake, it was on the original PS almost a decade ago!! It's the only reason, I haven't chunked my PS in the dumpster!

Re: Bought it - it's really good

I think this game is alright.  Coming to the forum, I see just how unpopular it is.  The forum doesn't even have a second page!!!

I just bought it and played it for about 30 minutes last night.  My biggest complaint is I can't seem to get too accurate.  I can beat all the songs with a grade C or higher, but I want A's on all.  Smile [:)]

I think I like this game because I love Zuma and rhythm games.  Just wish the game had better music.

Oh wow! A "Bust a groove" reference. That game is STILL awesome, even with it's outdated graphics. I still put the disc in my PS2 once in a while and go at it with friends. I have both games (1 and 2) which were pretty hard to track down. Awesome characters, cool moves, crazy music and the gameply didn't distract me from the visuals. This game should be pretty easy to emulate on Xbox Live Arcade. maybe an updated version... more characters, upgraded graphics, etc.
