Here is a workaround for chatpad support.  All it takes is a spare controller.  When you turn on the system, use the spare controller as Controller number 1.  Don't sign in!  Just set it aside.  Now turn on your controller with the chatpad.  It will connect as Controller 2.  Now sign in using this controller and start the game.  The chatpad is now supported.  I don't know why it works when the controller is on port 2 and not port 1, but ENJOY!
