Re: Soundtrack Thread

thanks!

pear isn't out yet, nor will it be for a while..  i have been so slammed with things to do.  even when i get free time i need to learn some more chord structures because i've pretty much exhausted the ones i know.

i did 2 songs in castle crashers.  one is the barracks theme (the opening area)

that link you posted it not the soundtrack, but a competition we had for the game.  we did end up using some of the songs in that list.  David Orr's "four brave champions" from that list is the menu music/theme.

other songs are somewhere on the audio portal.  all of the music was audio portal music, and it sounds very amazing.

They're all so great. I love -Glorious Morning-. I can't stop listening to it. Where, are you planning on putting that one in the game?

Re: Soundtrack Thread
lol... first thing I think of after I listened to all those samples is just saying "MEAT, POTATO! MEAT, POTATO!" and scaring my dog. That (hardcore) and pirateship were definitely the ones I liked the most, with golfswing at a close second.
Out of curiosity, what did you use to make that Dan? I wanna try something now xD

Re: Soundtrack Thread

the program is called modplug modtracker, and it is anything but user friendly, so don't expect me to answer questions about it as they could go on for years :)    the only reason i know how to use it is because that's what i used when i was 14, in DOS.  lol... and 14 years later i finally feel kind of comfortable with it.

basically you have to hunt down wav files on the key of C (or all as the same) and then enter them into the grid.  i record my own instruments off of my synthesizer.  the grid reads things going across simultaneously,  and moves down 1 row at a time.  each row represents a sixteenth note.  you can apply different kinds of effects to the sounds if you can find things called VST programs and install them into the latest version of modplug modtracker.

definitely find some songs and import them into the program, analyze and play around before you try to write anything.

Re: Soundtrack Thread
from that description, I'll jut find one more User-Friendly Stick out tongue [:P]
Although it would be nice to program some music, I do know it's tedious at times, and I'll probably never finish any projects like with all my flash stuff. Had an idea of doing a "How To" series for video games, with the first one being "How To: Be a Mage (in an everyday MMORPG)". The idea was to make it accurate, but funny at the same time. After taking forever to get the button to stop hating me, and getting as far as "Character Creation", I ditched it. I still got the beginning results, and might go back to it, but I dunno. I need to get devoted, and if successful, i might get stuck making more to get people to shut up.

Also the tune on the snow level before you enter the cave. Surely someone has it.
