Re: This game sux

You have the arm because you can't jump, and jumping would make the platforming way to easy. It doesn't look like you have the full game so im going to say you need to play the demo 1 or 2 more times until you get the hang of swinging.

Even thought this game is good and that i've been a fan since the 80's, i believe that it would be better if you could jump. Adding more freedom to a game would make it better surely?

you know how easy this game would be if you could jump?  it wouldnt even be worth playing with a jump button.  i think each game should have its own mechanic that takes time to learn

I'm sure the OP is joking, but still. . .

No one would even remember this game if you could jump.

As a gamer that until Half Life 2 game out rated Bionic Commando as his all time favorite game, I must say I am extremely happy with Rearmed.  Jumping, when I first played the game on my NES, or lack there of I mean, was almost causing me to quit the game.  However, if you play the game like its meant to be played ala the bionic arm, you come to realize anytime you needed to jump, there was the opportunity to grasp yourself to safety with the bionic arm.

I just got the full version and havent been to deep into it yet, but this is to me the best arcade title every dropped.  This is the best 800 points one could spend if they are a fan of the genre.

I agree. The OP wasn't alive when the original came out. He has no clue what a NES even is and his first system was a PS2 im 100% sure of it!

No sorry I didn't play the original and I knew you couldn't jump, but sometimes it is frustrating because the baddies are hard to kill without being able to jump

I have to say as incredible a remake as this is, jumping wasn't necessary in the original, so it shouldn't be now either.  However, I do seem to remember the arm being a little more forgiving, although at least the reach is better after the arm upgrade.  I seem also to remember being able to rock back and forth a bit after getting stuck without the need to use of the shotgun, its just taking some time to adjust.

Wonderful game! I loved the original and now love this one! You should never need to jump if you use your arm correctly :)

I like the fact that you can't jump but the controls need to be tuned a little bit.  Sometimes the arm shoots straight up, straight to the side or diagonal, the only problem is that I'm aiming the controller in the same direction each time.  Pisses me off.
95% of people in COD4 use martyrdom. If you're part of the 5% that don't need to die to get a kill, put this in your sig

Basic Arm/D-Pad Controls:
Stand Still+B: Arm moves up Diagonally from where your standing.
Left/Right+B: Arm moves forward from where your running.
Down+B: Shoots straight at whatever direction your crouching.
It's simple really.

As for the OP... Aww, baby want to jump, baby want every sidescrolling-platformer to be the same.
Seriously, this game pwns Mario.
(Note: It's called net fun kids. I love Mario.)

The controls of the arm take a little getting used to but once you have it down the game is a lot of fun.

anyone that complains about the lack of a jump button is COMPLETELY missing the point of BC. The entire game is based on the bionic arm, and using it because you can't jump. It may take a while to get used to, but by thte end of the game you'll be swinging like Tarzan through the final levels.

Re: This game sux

It's funny you should say this because I was just thinking about how in the King Kong game, you can't jump either and yet that game was pretty fun (for what it was mind you).

I agree with some people here in that at first on the original NES version, I was so frustrated after playing games like Mario and not being able to jump. I kept mis-firing the bionic arm in all sorts of directions and would fail to negotiate gaps with it or completely forget that I could duck under some shots from bad guys.

As time progressed the levels themselves seemed to train me for the skill I would most definitely need later on to defeat the final boss on the final level. The beauty of it was that you didn't see that until you came back to redo some of the earlier levels and found yourself whipping through them like a bionic monkey. I just did that again last night for some fun and was able to get the achievement for not firing a single shot. Just swung through the levels, snatched people up with my arm and generally avoided all sorts of previous problems with ease.

I have to admit that the simulations they put into the game (the holographic "solid snake" style training levels) are worth their weight in microsoft points. They add a nice touch to the game and make for some fun challenges.

Overall I think the point in not being able to jump in this game is what makes it unique as the gamer is forced to think and negotiate with only the assistance of their bionic arm.

(Doesn't mean I don't get ticked off though when I'm swinging on those moving elevators and the arm fails to snag an overhead vent and I fall to my doom lol)

Yeah you definitely can't jump, though I understand where you're coming from. That's the great challenge of this game though, manuevering your way through the levels using only the bionic arm. I always thought a little jump here and there could add to the fun of jumping and then catching hold of something to swing from with your arm, though this is something they'll probably incorporate in the new 3D game coming out for the 360.

Yeah, checked it out right after the download. While I wasn't really even looking forward to the new installment, that trailer might have convinced me to pick it up.

Agreed lol. I wasn't even interested in the least for the 3d version. Something about how bionic commando suddenly had dreads didn't seem like the "bionic commando" of the past, even though the story claims to be the same storyline and same bionic commando. Felt sort of like playing a new Tomb Raider only to find that Laura Croft was now a chinese man with a mohawk.

But the footage seemed to convince me to take it for what it is and give it a shot. (plus it comes with the old retro look so I can always do that lol)
