I was playing some online ranked games,

and when we started, no puzzle or buttons showed at all.

This has happened a few times!

Are you by any chance playing the game off a memcard?

Nope.

Just off the hard drive.

This happens in all online games, actually.

So far it's occured in about 12/20 games I have played.

It happened to me too.  Then, eventually, the game started, but only for me.  I played until I lost, and then it was recorded as a loss on the rankings.

happned to me a few times also, i believe it is caused by a laggy connectiong, because theres been some work  going on my my area to the internet, and its been causing my connectiong to mess up slightly on a night time, this glitch also happens on single player believe it or not if you have a laggy connectiong, im not too sure why, but it does.

Try this...

DELETE the game from your harddrive,  then re-download it from marketplace (this should be free) you may have a corrupted downlaod that allows you to play the game, but gives you this error online. Give that a shot before you try customer service from M$  in India....
