It takes a little practice.  You will want to start with your back as far up against the wall as you can.

Remember, when using your Daemon forms, try not to press any buttons too hard or miss your button...even the slightest, or it won't work.

Run to the edge, and as SOON as you are at the edge, jump, when you jump, hit the Sloth button.

Now, others have said you can remain the Sloth and swing yourself up to the next set of vents, but what I do is I whip and get the Sloth to latch onto the pipe, then when I go to release, I switch to the hawk and glide to the vent platform.

If you think this part is frustrating, wait until you get to the next part: that's where I'm currently stuck!
