Online problems

Loins of FIRE 08-27-2008, 2:39 PM
Am I the only one who can't get into a online game? Every time I try to join one it says "game no longer available" and when  do get into a game lobby it freezes up my Xbox. Can anyone else play this online or am I the only one having problems?

I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but I've already seen a lot of complaints about it on other forums. I think your best bet it just to enjoy single player and wait for a patch.
Suddenly, and without warning, the entire world blew up.

I actually managed to get into 1 game without "game no longer available" or having my 360 completely freeze.

Don't these things have to pass some kind of certification?

So the problem isn't affecting local play? If it's just online, I'm not worried about it.

Have you guys tried creating a match and waiting for others to join? Have you tried limiting your player count to two or three? Even though the wait for quick match seemed longer than I may have wanted, I was able to create a match and get matched with someone within seconds.

I tried creating a match, after about 5 minutes I left. I haven't tried limiting the match but I joined a game with only 2 players when it starts to load it completely freezes my Xbox. I remember having the same exact problems with SF2 HD remix beta. Did you actually get to play the game online?

I've been having issues online as well. Usually when it gets to a map change screen, but I've also had problems just setting up a game.

Yes I did. I even won the match. Smile [:)]

Did you try doing a test to Xbox Live and made sure you had no issues with your connection and your NAT was showing as OPEN? It's possible you or one of the other players had a connection issue that affected your online play.

it could also be that the game is being flooded with users, since there's a ton of buzz around this game.  by the time you actually get to the match it puts you in, it's already full..

couldn't tell you what the freezing issues are all about though...

I make a match and everyone is good to go, and right as it's loading the map it cancels it out and we all end up back at the title screen!

GTA IV used to do that a lot from the amount of people trying to play games, so that may be the case again here.  you should also check your network settings and see if you have an open NAT.  a buddy of mine has a crappy router and it makes him use strict NAT settings and we get booted back to the title screen when we try to play games online almost every time unless they're private matches.

Out of curiousity...where do most of you people (with the problems online) live? I've had Xbox LIVE since day one and have moved around a bit in my area and have never suffered any online issues outside of that one incident during Christmas that MS gave away Undertow to make up for.

I'm just trying to see if there's a common theme (IP, region, etc.) that could be causing these issues. I've never had to adjust any NAT settings, etc. Very odd that so many people have online issues lately.

It's not my connection, I never have problems like this.

My first onine game locked the 360 up. My second seemed to work fine. Since then games are hard to find.

Professional Adobe ColdFusion 8 application development. Game over, man! Game over!

Denivire 08-30-2008, 5:53 AM
day one it froze up on me for staying in certain screens to long, but other then that the online works mostly fine. I only get booted to the main menu when I'm playing with someone who has a strict NAT, and my ISP is one of the first to be rejected by that, no lie.

The servers for this game though are pretty weak. The Behemoth didn't expect so much traffic in the first day. I looked at day one, and there was over 16000 people who bought this game. 16000 for day 1! Imagine now!

I generally have no problems either, unless the game is messed up, or the servers are overloaded with people. Castle Crashers and Orange Box are the only two I have problems with, everything else is fine. (80+ XBLA games and 50+ disc based games, so i have a pretty large test base to go from), so I generally think this is either server or game issues, not connection, at least for most people.
