Common, honestly now..

This game is NOT that bad, the storyline is garbage, the online community is tiny, but overall, this game is FUN, yes I said it, its FUN! What game can you freakin slow stop or rewind time, it brings a unique and diverse gameplay to the table, an experience you cant find anywhere else..

I agree, its not the best game, there are alot of better games out there "BF:BC H3, COD4, BIOSHOCK, etc" But this game is still a good game, it really is, i would pick this game over quake wars, maybe not unreal tournament but still, try this game out online, get a group together that play online and ull love it, its one of my favorite fps's to be honest and im a huge gamer.

The game feels really nostalgic to me. Its like the old school PC FPS games I always enjoyed. I like the story even if it is a little convoluted. My favorite part is sticking someone with a grenade and seeing them blow up in slow motion. I also like stealing peoples weapons and leaving them there to see what they do.

Re: Common, honestly now..

I totally agree. I picked the game up several months ago, but put it on the back burner. Recently picked it up again and been having a really fun time with it. Originally started the game on easy difficulty, but after getting a few stages in, decided to restart the game on the hardest difficulty (and I recommend this to everyone -- easy is just *too* easy).

My personal favorite thing to do is to stop time, blow 3 or 4 guys away with my shotgun, then unpause and watch all of them fly at the same time. Looks like a synchronized olympic event. ^_^

I bought this game because it was cheap and now it's one of my favorites.

While I was playing it, I really enjoyed it myself.  My problem was forgetting to use the time stop part of it...which is the main part of the game.  I did stop playing it some time ago, since I game hop a lot.  I need to get back into it, when my thumb gets better.

Re: Common, honestly now..
Timeshift is a great game, one of the most under rated 360 games ever. That said, I think that they messed up a few things. The story line is done horribly. The cut scenes do a terrible job of explaining what the heck is going on. Could have been done a lot better. Sometimes the "time puzzles" don't work they way that they are supposed too. They game is way too easy, especially if you use the crossbow. Other than that I think the game is great, a blast to play. If your looking for a bargain FPS I would recomend it.

Yeah I don't see anything wrong with this game. If only the online community was a little bit larger. I might go rent this again and beat it on elite Yes [Y]

It's actually quite easy to beat this game the first time around on Elite, afew parts are annoying but - there is alot harder games out there in my opinion. Also, I enjoyed the ending for some strange reason. The controls for the game could've been better though, I find myself throwing grenades randomly at the cover I'm hiding behind getting myself killed. Happy days indeed.

I just beat the game on Elite yesterday and I totally agree -- there are A LOT harder games out there. The ability to control times gives you such a large advantage... plus, the layout of just about every level is the same. Small rooms contain a few enemies, usually sitting in chairs or hiding behind boxes -- slow down time just as you enter the room and you can clear it out. Large rooms or areas usually contain enemies on catwalks and/or platforms -- on Elite, they have very precise aim, so just duck and cover behind a box, slow time, and snipe. Plus, you can save your game anywhere at anytime... so if you see your map fill with red dots, go ahead and save.

The game is a bit rinse, wash, repeat... but heck, every FPS is. Regardless, I enjoyed TimeShift.

Re: Common, honestly now..

It is a good game.  The timeshifting abilities and the crossbow make the game really easy even on the hardest difficulty setting.  For me, it stands out as a "memorable" game.

I sold my copy, only because there's entirely too many games out and too many games coming out to justify playing this. The online community has always been small for this game, because most people don't hold onto their copy long enough for the population to get big.  Most people probably rent this game, and people who purchased it probably trade or sell it.

Hopefully there will be a sequel!

Its sad that the online community is very tiny. I remember, i played the timeshift multiplayer demo with alot of people and i had so much fun. I just bought this game for 15 euros and the game is dead online. So i will play singeplayer and try to get all the achievements and then sell the game.

Re: RE: Re: Common, honestly now..

That's been my only major gripe with the game, that it feels like a Half-Life 2 ripoff.  The old guy on the monitors in the beginning city levels spewing his propaganda was exactly like Half-Life 2, only more boring.  A lot of the level design is similar as well.  Not that HL2 is a bad game to want to emulate, but in some places, they took it too far.

Re: RE: Re: Common, honestly now..
I actually bought this game when it was new, played through a few levels, didn't hate it, just got side tracked by something else. I needed a break from Gears so I took it off the shelf and I am really enjoying it. Can not find ANY ONE to play on-line with though. I agree that there is absolutely nothing wrong with this game. As far as it being a  Half-Life 2 rip off, both games are set in a post-apocalyptic, totalitarian society but I think that this is simply a case of both games borrowing elements from George Orwell's novel "1984". The city monitors and constant propaganda are both featured prominently in Orwells story.

I like this game a whole lot as well.  I think that the time manipulation powers are super cool.  Also, the fact that each weapon has a secondary fire (as well as a primary fire) and that they seem to handle very well contributes to this game's enjoyability.  Unfortunately, this game's multiplayer needs to be patched so that you can have voice communication with people on your team.

It's not that the game is bad, it is fun, it's that they took a "high concept" and reduced it to a gimmick.  Even the demo, the second demo, the one for this version of the game, seemed to imply not only would we manipulate time during gameplay but because of the change to history we would be whipsawed back and forth as we tried to correct the change.  The demo ends implying that would be a major plot device and a crucial part of gameplay.  Hence, I think there was some disappointment on the part of reviewers and some people, including myself, who had been following this game's progress and waiting for its release.

Sometimes I felt as though a situation was simply a setup in order to force the use of the timeshifting ability.  I can't completely fault the game for this as you do need to become familiar with this ability as you move through the game.  Still, at times it was frustrating.  During the "Ground Floor" level for example, you have to use a crane moving a crate in order to reach a duct.  While time reverse worked for some on this level, others, including myself had trouble getting it to work or work long enough to get us to the broken grate on the opposite wall.  I finally, had to pull the lever to return the crane, immediately "stop time," and quickly climb the crates to the crate on the crane.  It took a few tries to successfully pull it off; time reverse, had it worked for me in this instance, would have been much easier.  On the other hand, through most of the game, these abilities were useful and a help but I'm not sure it should even have been necessary in this situation and that's part of the criticism of the game.

At the end of September of this year, another game which seems to have a similar concept, Singularity,
http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2009/02/23/singularity-videogame-revealed-in-first-trailer.htm, will be arriving.  It touts similar "timeshifting" abilities as well as the potential of being whipsawed around in time which I thought would have added a whole new dimension (no pun intended) and interesting plot device and possible challenge to this game.

I don't get all the moaning about the storyline... sure it was disjointed but the point was that you remember bits and pieces - it was easy enough to piece together and understand what was going on.

Re: Common, honestly now..
If it was a good game then maybe you guys wouldn't see posts and threads like this quite so often. Just a thought.

Hi, I'm one of the guys that never game a chance... it was the demo that did the trick. I don't know it was basically a gut feeling that I wouldn't like this game and that it would suck. I'll admit the time shifting abilities was cool and that's actually was first got my attention (I thought never seen that before) but yeah so I downloaded the demo and throughout the whole game... I couldn't help but compare it to other FPS like COD4 or Gears of War and well it just didn't do it for me. The AI seemed too dumb, it was too easy. And me I personally love it when its so difficult your sweating to get over one level.

I might rent it one day to see the rest of the game.
