This game is NOT that bad, the storyline is garbage, the online community is tiny, but overall, this game is FUN, yes I said it, its FUN! What game can you freakin slow stop or rewind time, it brings a unique and diverse gameplay to the table, an experience you cant find anywhere else..
I agree, its not the best game, there are alot of better games out there "BF:BC H3, COD4, BIOSHOCK, etc" But this game is still a good game, it really is, i would pick this game over quake wars, maybe not unreal tournament but still, try this game out online, get a group together that play online and ull love it, its one of my favorite fps's to be honest and im a huge gamer.
It's not that the game is bad, it is fun, it's that they took a "high concept" and reduced it to a gimmick. Even the demo, the second demo, the one for this version of the game, seemed to imply not only would we manipulate time during gameplay but because of the change to history we would be whipsawed back and forth as we tried to correct the change. The demo ends implying that would be a major plot device and a crucial part of gameplay. Hence, I think there was some disappointment on the part of reviewers and some people, including myself, who had been following this game's progress and waiting for its release.
Sometimes I felt as though a situation was simply a setup in order to force the use of the timeshifting ability. I can't completely fault the game for this as you do need to become familiar with this ability as you move through the game. Still, at times it was frustrating. During the "Ground Floor" level for example, you have to use a crane moving a crate in order to reach a duct. While time reverse worked for some on this level, others, including myself had trouble getting it to work or work long enough to get us to the broken grate on the opposite wall. I finally, had to pull the lever to return the crane, immediately "stop time," and quickly climb the crates to the crate on the crane. It took a few tries to successfully pull it off; time reverse, had it worked for me in this instance, would have been much easier. On the other hand, through most of the game, these abilities were useful and a help but I'm not sure it should even have been necessary in this situation and that's part of the criticism of the game.
At the end of September of this year, another game which seems to have a similar concept, Singularity,

It touts similar "timeshifting" abilities as well as the potential of being whipsawed around in time which I thought would have added a whole new dimension (no pun intended) and interesting plot device and possible challenge to this game.
