Thank Gawd, it's Over! <spoilers>

YES! I beat the game last night! yes yes YES!!!

So, now you all know, it's actually possible! L0L!

I beat it on Private Investigator mode (normal) in 9 and 1/2 hours, 98% complete, 95% gun accuracy, medium blood loss, no drug use at all (shocking, coming from me! lol) and serious mental problems

they rated my mental condition at the end of the game as, "Nut Job" L0L! good enuf fer me!

Unfortunately, my Mythos Rating sucked, I got a D

which is only one step above gawd-awful (lowest ranking is E)

But I seriously don't give a damn! I just beat the single hardest game I've ever played in my life and I'm damn proud! I am never gonna touch this game again! lol

quick questions: are there any other endings? if I had gotten a better mythos rating, would Jack still have lived in the end, or not? as I stated above, I only got 98% completion, where's that last journal entry? or did i miss something else?

I've been reading the FAQ page for this and I don't even know if I wanna put myself through the torment of trying to finish this game, but to answer your question...
If you beat the game with a better ranking, and do things like;
Not save unless the game autosaves for you.
Rescue that chick.
Etc.
You will be given a new, harder difficulty level to play through. It doesn't matter what you do on this difficulty level, so long as you finish the game.
Your reward?
Basically the exact same cutscene, but longer, with some details left out of the first one.
Yay.
NOT WORTH IT, Imho...
But if you enjoyed the game, and loike smashing your head against a wall, by all means go for it.

If you dig the best ditches, your only reward will be a bigger shovel.

Naw, bro, I'm fine without it.

Once through this game is enough, believe it! I'm really glad I played this game but i can assure I'll never touch it again. I'm still feeling proud about beating it, and that was a few weeks ago!

Definitely worth it, but I have no idea who would be insane enough to try those harder difficulty levels.

I read a ton of Lovecraft books, and a recurring theme was the main character often went insane at the end of the book. I think this game, with its brutal difficulty, captures that idea very well.

Re: Thank Gawd, it's Over! <spoilers>

the Flying Polyps, right?

You need the Yithian Lightning Gun at that point. I don't recall exactly how to get it, but I do know that it is at the very top of the waterfall in the last area of the game; the Chamber of Wind, I believe. A small, well-hidden passage next to the pool at the base of the waterfall should take you there. ( I hope I am not steering you wrong. I myself was stuck in this final area for days on end! )

Hit each spore monster twice with a FULL charge on the gun, ( anything less won't be effective ) and they will drop to heir doom.

Even so, you are only given just enough time to do as I have described above. Even after victory, it still appears as if Jack dies. ( but he just blacks-out & wakes-up on the ledge a few minutes later )

Hopefully, I have described the part which is troubling you. If not, let me know & will attempt to help you further.

Good Luck
