I am having a heck of a time with this MTU setting. I have a linksys WRT54GS and do not want to pay $30 just for something I hope I can get for free. I just need to know HOW to set up the MTU. So please if anyone has this router PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me out. If I can't figure this out I'm going to throw the 360 out the window

I go through the process of setting up my live account and when it says it's creating it I get error # 80154013. Any ideas? It doesn't say what it is, just says to contact support.

I am not sure what happen but all of a sudden my profile is not signing on to xbox live automatically.  I have to go to test connection in order to sign in first.  I have a wireless adapter connect to my xbox360.  I went into profile settings and told it to sign-in automatically.  When I turn my xbox on, it logons to my profile but not to xbox live.  Sometimes it will logon, but most it will not.   Is there a way to have it sign in to xbox live without having to go through the test connection each time.  As soon as the wireless adapter connects to my router it should sign me in correct?

Recently in the past 2 months my connection has gone in the pooper. My xbox live connection is testing to be perfect, Comcast, Microsoft, and Linksys all claim all my settings are fine and good to go. I've done everything to fix it, yet nothing works. I can remain in a party chat, or game for 5 min or less and then I just get booted. However I remain connected to Xbox Live. SOMEBODY PLEASE help me, I'm starting to lose it, and am very close to taking all this equipment to a baseball bat. It's very frustrating after having a perfect connection for 3 years then this, no explanation. Microsoft "support" has never heard of anything like this and has no idea what they are talking about. Comcast is pointing fingers, and Linksys the router company has my setting set to where they need to be. I'm using: Comcast Modem Motorola SB5120 Linksys Router WRT54GS and have done a wireless, wired, and direct modem connection, and alas no cigar. I can do everything except interact with other LIVE members, somebody please, PLEASE help me. I will forever thank you.

So I started a new account on live today with an old email address I used with my original xbox.

It gave me the notice that I got a free month of xbox live and that it will automatically renew in a month.  But they never asked me for credit card details.  In fact I haven't input any credit card details.

Will I be automatically renewed and charged???  Is it even possible?  Is it possible my credit card infor from original xbox is still associated with the old email account?

I've been having the same problem throughout the past year of having my 360, and it seems to have gotten worse since NXE came out. I went through a couple different routers and finally settled on the Linksys WRT54G. Basically I can only connect to my network and Live after a ridiculous number of restarts of the console. I've tried manually assigning my IP and all the other settings, and just leaving it to automatic, but I get the same result. Any suggestions before I go and make a thread out of this?

I have the same router and connect via wireless adapter.  The only difference is I need an extender in the upstairs hall so the signal can reach the Xbox downstairs.  Since the update, I find I'm having to power-cycle my modem and router (along with the Extender) once or twice a month.  But once that's done, no problems.

If your router supports it enable UPnP and that should resolve it. Otherwise you'll need to foward ports.

Reset your router.

2. If I restart my modem I would get disconnectet also, but I don't need that!

I would like to play all the time when I'm online without connection loses

I have two profiles, one with XBOX Live and one without. They somehow have the same gamertag. Is there any way I can transfer the gamerpoints and game saves from the profile without XBOX Live to the one with XBOX Live? I realize that I'm a bit off topic, but I couldn't find a better thread to ask this on, and making my own thread is useless.

You can't play (games) Xbox Live because you are in Silver Membership. You need to upgrade your account to Gold. In silver you still can visit the game/video marketplace.

if it works with you both having free trials of gold, it should definitively work when u subscribe to gold

Is there a way for her to use my gold account under her profile so she can play her RPG's w/ other people, or does she need her own account? I haven't gotten her away from Fable II to try anything yet (i.e. recovering gamertag using my Gold information, etc.) Any suggestions are appreciated!! Thanks

Ok.  I searched a bit for an answer to this and have come up short, so I'll post the question here.  When I setup my 360 last year, I setup this profile as a Live account, but ended up doing all my gaming under another profile (not setup as a Live account).  Problem is, now I'd like to start doing some gaming on Live, but want to use my other profile.  Is there a way to take a local profile and convert it to a Live account, or can a profile only be setup as a Live account at time of creation?  Am I stuck?  What are my options?  Thanks in advance for any help.

When I first got my XBOX 360 I set up a profile. Later, after getting all setup, I joined XBOX Live and somehow ended up with a second profile. Now my wife and the kids also have profiles on the XBOX but not on XBOX Live yet. How do I get them all setup on Live without creating new profiles, thereby preserving all the gamer points and stuff?

Okay, so I bought Xbox LIVE... I connected the Xbox to a router that IS working, and I know because the computer works and it IS logging me into Xbox LIVE ... The problem is that it is indeed logging me into Xbox LIVE - letting me send voice messages and everything BUT! I cant play online games with anyone AND I cant go into private chats. It kicks me out if I say accept, and same to him.. Its extremely aggrivating.

The wire heads upstairs to a room but I mean if I can log in doesnt that mean I should be able to talk to someone or play some games with another person?

Any ideas?

Are rebooting your router each time you switch devices that are hooked to your modem?  You need to reboot the modem each time.

Depending on which wireless adapter you have, you will need to set it up.  You will need to enter the wep key if you have it enabled on your wireless network.

She will need her own gold subscription if she wants a separate online gamer tag.

is there anyway i can connect to xbox live using an offbrand modem with comcast like plug in the phone cable etc and connect straight to xbox live ? hooking up xbox live with qwest was easy but when i try to use the comcast modem it will always fail the dns server test and we dont know how to fix it
