does anyone know if there will ever be a player update released with the proper names!!??

Very unlikely. The original Amiga version of the game had the proper names so they have made a choice not to put them in here. Blame EA for inventing the whole concept of not letting anyone else use real names in their games.

SWOS is one of the all-time-greatest computergames ever.
I bought every version on AMIGA, the PC-version and the Sensible Soccer 2006 version for PS2. Codemasters was on the train since then. Yesterday I bought the game for my XBox360, too. If I had read the comments here in this forum, I probably wouldn't have bought it.
Fake names, ok that seems to be blamed to EA.
Patching it somehow, don't know how. I'm sad, that every try to bring a nice Sensi Game since 1998 wasn't an success but money making.
People like me buy it, no matter how unsatisfying it is.
Ok, enough of that.

Perhaps someone knows, how to get the names correct.

There is a pattern to the player names of course:

for the surnames:

a = e
e = a
u = i
i = o
o = u

and the first initial is always swapped with the same letter. If you play for long enough you can figure it out.

Can I change even others teams and nationals names and players names?
