It loads in an original xbox but the 360 keeps giving me a disc read error.  PLZ HELP I LOVE THIS GAME AND MY OLD XBOX IS A POS NOW AND DOESNT WORK

Sorry I can't help with that. My copy works better on the 360 than it ever did in my original Box. Have you checked the disk out thouroughly to make sure it's not dirty or scratched? (I know, dumb question...)

I've Done that and I had it resurfaced and it still doesnt work.

The only suggestion I can offer, is to see of anyone will let you swap the game. If you bought it used, the store should do that for you, assuming they have another copy.

Also, you might try using a laser lens cleaner on your 360, but my experience is that it usually has no effect.

I'm not sure what you just said. You don't need an elite to play Xbox originals. I have a regular 360 with a hard drive and I can play all of the BC originals. Games were being supported for this before the Elite was even out.

You do however need a Hard Drive, and Broadband internet connection to download the BC emulation software, ~OR~ burn the software to a CD from right here at Xbox.com and put that disk into your 360.

FYI - Morrowind: both the regular XBox version, and the GOTY XBox version, work just fine on my regular XBox 360.  Due to RROD replacements and such, I've played Morrowind on three different regular XBox 360 consoles.  No problems at all.

So, I agree with Goonie, the problem is probably with your particular disk. Easy to test that theory, just try another disk (from a friend, or a replacement from your store). If that still doesn't work, then there might be a problem with the disk drive in your 360.  That would be bad news.

Oh, there is one other thing. Make sure your 360 is on-line when you first insert the Morrowind disk. XBL needs to download the backward compatibility software onto your console before you can play the game.  You knew that, right?

It could also be your xbox. Ive had my xbox since launch and its very picky when it comes to the games it will play. More often than not it will show up as a DVD or give me the message that it is an un-playable. What I usually do to get around this is re-load the game untill it works.

Died, as in red ring of death?  Remember, Microsoft extended their XBox 360 warranty to THREE years. Hope this applies to you -- it would mean a free replacement or repair.

Ok, honestly, if you want a truly great MW experience ,,, get the pc version, and download some of the incredible mods that players have created.
Including mods from our own MW bud, Phijama (sp?)

MW will run on just about any pc younger than six years old, and looks alot better than it does on the Xbox. Load times will be reduced as well.
Again, did I mention player created mods? Use 'em, they rock.

Im not dismissing the Xbox, but for a game like MW .. there are better options.

Oh, if pc versions of MW are a bit hard to come by, PM me. I'll hook ya up

It died 13 days out of warranty so I have to pay the $100 to get it repaired and the 3 yr warranty

My advice....

 

Spend the extred $100 and just buy a brand new one....

 

The refurbs they send are just garbage

my 360 is brand-spaking-new. 3 days old to be exact. but this brand-spaking-new morrowind won't even load past the x-box logo after i hit play game(morrowind game of the year edition). instead of anything cool, it pops up an error page saying it can't allow the game to play on my xbox and gives me this site for questions and info... so it might not be the disc itself nor the xbox. just the game itself isn't able to be played. i've tried someone elses but it says the same thing. is it the fact that i have the game of the year edition? that makes no F-ing sense but could if there was a genious here that could tell me wtf.

okay, my genious techy brother brought to my attention that there may be updates needed to play the game...maybe that could solve some of the problems of getting the game to work...but maybe not...***!

If you have broadband simply connect your 360 to your internet connection (It's ok if you don't have a Gold LIVE account, free Silver accounts are just fine) and it will automatically download the update when you put the disk in. If you don't have a broadband internet connection then just download the BC files and burn them to a disk.

i had a problem with the GOTY edition of morrowind and im wondering if anyone else has this problem...the game glitches and the screen turns black for a moment then crashes...its not the disk and its not the 360...i tried out other xbox originals and never had a problem...now i have the update for the game and everything...maybe its just my luck with wanting to play the game i dont know...can anyone help me?

This might be bad news for your 360, but I've played the GOTY edition on my 360 for 2 years now and it's never glitched.  Good luck with whatever it is.
