Agreed.  I bought this game, only to find out that there's no single console multiplayer.... or at least, I haven't found it yet........

Oh, is that so? No Local Multiplayer? That's sad. That's a feature you're seeing less and less of. I'm considering making this purchase, but I'm aware of how old Arcade Games can get after you put in their respective amount of immediate hours.

My largest concern for this game is the existance of Local Multiplayer, a sufficient amount of Multiplayer Maps, and a good, distinctive variety between the different Mechs.

Oh, you'll get your variety between some of them, and I think there's enough multiplayer maps to satisfy.

Re: This game is fun but...
My only worry is that the immediate appeal of this game will draw me in, and I'll lose intrest after certain consistent situations bore me. Like the same scenery graphics everywhere, or an obnoxious lack of variety among the mechs.

Admitably, I haven't been too impressed with the recent mainstream shooter projects Xbox has been facilitating. Matchmaking in Gears 2 has killed it. Halo 3 lost too much of it's allure by being dramatically similar to it's prior installment. Call of Duty 4 and World at War were epic dissappointments to me as represenitive titles to the Call of Duty franchise. That series just needs to end.

I so much prefer Third Person shooters over First Person.

Okay, few more questions to be answered, before I make my final verdict:

Do you know exactly how many maps there are? I'd appreciate ten or twelve, but seven is a reasonable quantity for an Arcade.

Can you easily determine based almost soley on perfomance, the strength and weaknesses of each unique mech? Or do they all possess rudimentally the same method of function?

The strengths and weaknesses are determined in the ONE HUNDRED single player maps that choose the mech for you.  I haven't played War World in a long time, so I don't know how many multiplayer maps there are.  Seems like I remember there being ten to fifteen of them.

If you can be satisfied with a single player game (that is, no other human players), this is pretty good, since the skirmishes have two to fifteen player battles.  I personally like multiplayer games, so I had to find something else.
