So... it sucks? *Phew*

I had fond memories of this game on the N64, and really liked the maps that they have remade for the XBL version. ( Wish they had Vegas, though. )

But people are saying they're disappointed? Guess I won't be getting it - I was thinking about it, but... nah. I'll just buy a *** LOAD MORE ROCK BAND 2 SONGS!

It's pretty good actually, the game has its flaws...but for 800 pts its a lot of fun per point ratio. I'd give it a solid 8/10, maybe 8.5/9 without the slowdown issues. It's raked 2nd on my arcade list, behind braid.

Go ahead and spend your money on more songs for guitar hero . . . . . a game that simulates playing a quitar. I just don'te get it. What is so great about that in video game form? I love video games as much as anyone, but if your going to play a guitar game why not just learn to play the quitar? Youd actually learn a skill that's useful.

Vigilante 8 on the other hand is great in video game form. It let's me drive around shooting missles at other passing cars. Unlike playing the quitar this is impossible to do without going  to prison.

This game is a very good game. It's the best arcade game out that I have played. I have played around 20 of them. Car combat has takin such a huge blow since the glory days of V8 and Twisted Metal I'm just happy to see a game on Xbox 360.

Microsoft is dropping the ball on this in my opinion. Sony owns the Twisted Metal brand now.  If Microsoft was smart they would spend a lil money and invest in exclusive rights to V8 and invest in a 3rd full game. I do think car combat is the hiddin gem left in gaming. Today gaming is a huge market, but small developers still have a hard time making big bucks because almost all genres are dominated by a few big brands now. Car combat is the exeption of this rule and when someone releases the next good car combat game they are gonna make millions.

With SONY losing many long-time exclusive franchises, like Ace Combat, Final Fantasy, and lately, Tekken, it would not suprise me at all if we see a Twisted Metal game for all consoles. The main problem is convincing developers that the genre is still alive.

Last attempt at it was Full Auto, and it was solid, but a bit generic. Twisted Metal has the personality and cars that keep people playing.

I wouldn't mind original Twisted Metal 2 on Arcade. Or even TM3 or 4 (yes, "long-time" fans hate those 2, but they were great fun).

I actually enjoyed V8:2O more on PSX because of more vehicles, variety etc. Plus the all-terrain powerups kicked ***.

v8 2nd offense was great. What madethe psx version the best was that if you owned the first game aswell you could actually pause v8 2 and remove the disc. After removing the disc you could insert  the original v8 game and it would unlock all the origianl levels. So v8 2 actually had like 20 + levels on the psx version. Awesome idea and again was somthing that set v8 apart from all other games. to this day no other developer has done this. It was a great idea for so many reasons. 1) made the game deeper and better 2) prevented people from selling there original game (developers don't make money off preowned games, if no one can find preowned games more people buy new) 3) it makes people that purchased #2 but not #1 go back and purchase #1. etc. Can't figure out why this never caught on more.

Maybe if there is ever a V8 arcade 2 the game will be able to search your harddrive for v8 arcade levels. That would be sweet.

Thiose games you mentioned that are no longer sony exclusive are completely different then Twisted Metal. Those games are published by 3rd parties. Twisted Metal is actually published by Sony. No way it will ever see time on an Xbox unless sony goes under. I guess it's possible, but very unlikely. I do admit thouigh I never thought sonic would be playing on Nintendo consoles. For this to happin though sony would have to fall aprt like Sega did. Which even then I doubt Sony would continue at all in the gaming industry if that happened.

But on the bright side who cares. Let's hope V8 arcade sells very well and warrants a full game. I really hope this game is an attempt to create a buzz for the franchise and resurect it. Unfortunetely, there is a chance that they just wanted to squeeze what little money outa the franchise they could at this point.

Please, stop quoting long-*** posts.

That said, I haven't heard anything about a TM sequel ever since the last game came out for PSP.

V8:2O Arcade would be awesome. That way I can actually retire my PSX.

Except for the minor framerate slowdown, I liked this game a lot. It's way better than Twisted Metal Black. In TM:B, they didn't even feel like real cars and the dark story was a real downer.

Just bought it and boy....this game is bad.  The physics are just horrible.  The gameplay is loose and floaty and sometimes it just feels like random BS bats you around and keeps you form having any real control over what is going on.  I already want my money back.  XBLA impules buys usually are at least fun for a bit but this one....ugh.  So much wasted potential.

No it doesn't suck. It takes some getting sued to, but what good game doesn't.

For 800 MS points, you can't go wrong with what you get. It's an awesome overall package, with more goodies coming along soon too!

I had fond memories of this game on the N64, or was it Second Offense (I remember playing in a snowy level with a hover-school bus)? Anyways I don't know if my memory is bad (I was only 7-8 at the time of the original release) but I remember the handling of the cars being smoother than they are in V8A. And what's with the inverted X-axis camera?

the only thing about this game that doesnt hold up to the oldskool is the offline co-op,buy it.if they could fix the co-op it would be perfect.i wish eat, sleep, play would just remake twisted metal 2 add all boards from and vehicles from1 and add a save function and keep everything else like it was(besides graphics)we would be back on track with the modern car combat genre.man we would be rockin like sasquatch

This game is a huge disappointment. The car physics are terrible and who's idea was it to leave out a handbreak for quick turns? Also the charge system, while newcomer friendly, takes away a lot of strategy in the game.

This is a good example of why the car combat genre is pretty much dead. Good ideas implemented poorly. This will probably be the only car combat game to come out in about a year if we're lucky and it's not going to do anything for the genre. New people won't see anything special, it might even turn off fans of the genre.

It's a shame too. V8 Second Offense was a step in the right direction.

Dude it's 10 dollars this isn't a retail title like V8:SO. Car combat isn't dead Twisted Metal is currently in development and who knows maybe one day we'll get a retail V8 again but for the time being a 10 dollar arcade game that supplies enough fun to warrant the price at the very least shows us people are still interested in this genre

Even if you only play it for 2 hours you got your money worth.

Hey Smerlus13... the Handbrake was not removed, in fact you *will* have a difficult time playing without it. Gas + Brake = Handbrake (do it at speed). You may also want to review the 'How to Play' screens for all the other info, including how to switch the controls to 'Classic V8'. As with the old V8s, the game takes some time to master...

^^ "Classic V8" should have been the default settings honestly... I couldn't manage to beat level 2 on easy with the default controls and when I changed them I was burning through hard mode with multiple cars.

the physics and everything are the old soul of V8,this is not an ADD game, you gotta actually build skill, achieve a familiarity with the game,be one with the game.if you wanna rock like sasquatch, you gotta spend time in the forest brother.my point is,this is a truly badass franchise and arcade does not go astray,a better co-op mode and it would be the most perfect game ive played on 360 downlooad or retail(for once im not disappointed to own a 360,but thats just me.i hate shooters and sports games)

thx again Isopod, youve managed to keep me interested in video games(not an easy job my friends)

I realize you might be a developer but Gas + Brake /= a Handbrake. I own a car with both a brake pedal and a hand brake and if i slam on them while driving, two different things occur. Look at games like Twisted Metal, GTA or Saint's Row, not only do they have brake buttons, they usually have another button for handbrakes which makes power gliding easier and is essential for driving at high speeds while still trying to remain agile.

I also realize the control schemes can be changes and the classic combos have a slight advantage but it is still a poor feature when more time could have been spent tweaking the physics.

the sega dreamcast ver. of V8 2nd off. was the best 1. it had way bettter  graphics and the sound was awsome
2. it was the only copy that had 3 extra hidden levels that you needed to unlock to even see and i love that
on the dreamcast it came with a VMU mini game that you played to power up your cars but lets get down to it
i have one question about this game and it is this why do we even need to get the bolts in this game from all i have seen all they do is make your car look better they dont make your stats any higher os if anyone can test it out for me and answer what these do please post it here

Hey Quick... Sure the bolt pickups matter, some.  They increase the 'strength' (life) of your ride.  The more you've collected, the 'salvage' bar for the given car will fill up.

and i think that the game just needs a lil spit and polish to the handdling of the cars they tip over way to easy
i was playing the semi and i hit a mine and was sent flying now i know semis are heavyer then that they arent featherlights like the ones in V8 online for the 360
