Section II: Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any cheats for Halo?
No, there are no actual button Cheats for Halo. There are, however, easter eggs, glitches, and tricks. Look here for some fun tricks, easter eggs and glitches to perform. Some of those glitches can get you special abilities such as unlimited health or ammunition, but they were unintentionally put into the game, and cannot be considered cheats. Anyone who claims to have found a cheat is lying.

How do people hack Halo?
Halo is hacked by using a mod chip or action replay. However, mod chips void the Xbox's warranty, and can cause problems for the console. Use of a mod chip can result in a banning from Xbox Live or the forums. Talks of mod chips are not tolerated on the Xbox.com Forums.

Do I receive anything for finishing the game on Legendary?
If The Maw, the last level of Halo, is finished on Legendary, you can view an alternate ending video to the game. It is just a small video, showing a SpecOps Elite and Sergeant Johnson fighting over an Assault Rifle, then as the Pillar of Autumn begins to explode, they hug. Keep in mind though, the clip is just meant to be humorous, and has no relevance to the plot.

Is Halo playable on Xbox Live?
No. Halo was released a full year before Xbox Live, and is not compatible with the network. However, Halo can be played through the Xbox Connect tunnel, which is a third party internet gaming network. Halo is also playable through the Gamespy tunnel.

Will Bungie make an update to make Halo Live enabled?
No. The software Bungie used to create Halo does not have the necessary "hooks" to look for game updates. So, even if a Live update was made, there is no way to get it onto the game. Bungie has said in the past that an update to Halo will never be developed.

I am having trouble with the Flood. How do I kill them effectively?
First, you are going to need an assault rifle, shotgun and grenades. When you see a big wave of flood coming find a corner or spot with you're back against the wall. Then make sure your shotgun is fully loaded. When they begin to attack open fire. Reload your shotgun after three or four shots so you won't have a longer reload time later on. The Flood carries an immense amount of ammo. Go grab as much as possible, but throw some grenades first to clear the area of any remaining parasites. Use the Assault Rifle on any Infection Forms that jump up at you, as they well pop with one shot. Each time you see one of the Carriers open fire on them with the Assault Rifle before they get too close. They will explode, possibly taking out

Where can I find walkthroughs of Halo?
Bungie's Dave Candland wrote an excellent Legendary Walkthrough some time ago. It explains exactly how to get through each level, and even lists some fun stuff to do along the way. You can view it here.

Where can I find multiplayer guides?
There is a great multiplayer guide written by the Bungie staff at their Halo page. It lists information about weapons, vehicles, power ups, game types, levels, and more. You can read it here.

Is there such a thing as Halo 1.5?
Well, yes and no. Halo 1.5 was rumored to be an update for the Xbox version of Halo, with lots of new content. However, that was completely false. The software in which Bungie used to make Halo makes it impossible to create updates for the game, so there will never be an addition to Xbox's Halo. The real Halo 1.5 was the code name for one of the Halo PC beta tests.

Can I carry more then two weapons in Halo?
Yes, but only on one level, the Pillar of Autumn. It is a glitch that lets you pick up two weapons, in addition to the pistol given to you by the Captain. You can view the video showing how to complete the glitch here.

What is new on Halo PC?
There are six new multiplayer maps: Timberland, a forest setting, Infinity, a desert canyon, Death Island, a multiplayer version of the Silent Cartographer, Gephyrophobia, a humongous bridge, Danger Canyon, another canyon-based map, and Ice Fields, which is self explanatory. There are also two new weapons, the Fuel Rod Gun, which the Hunters use in the campaign, and the Flamethrower. There are also three new multiplayer vehicles: the Shade stationary gun, the Banshee, and a Warthog modified with a rocket launcher. Check out Microsoft's Halo PC site for more info.

I heard there are novels about Halo. Is that true?
Yes. Four novels that take place in the "Haloverse" have been released. The first, titled The Fall of Reach explains what happened to the Master Chief and his fellow Spartans prior to Halo. The second book, The Flood, is based on the game itself, but it goes into more detail, and explains what happens from the perspectives of the marines and Covenant. The third book, First Strike, explains the story between the games of Halo and Halo 2. The fourth novel, Ghosts of Onyx, details a secret operation by the Office of Naval Intelligence. The Fall of Reach, First Strike, and Ghosts of Onyx were written by Eric Nylund, and The Flood was written by William Dietz. It has also been revealed that at least two more novels are in the works, though the titles, authors, and plots are not yet known. You can buy the novels at any major bookseller.

Will there be a movie made about Halo?
Yes, it has been announced that a Halo movie will be produced. Alex Garland wrote the script, and the producers will include Mary Parent, Peter Schlessel, and Scott Stuber. Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, both of Lord of the Rings fame, have signed on as executive producers. WETA Workshop and WETA Digital, Peter Jackson's studios, will provide the special effects for the film. The movie will be filmed entirely in Wellington, New Zealand, and will be live-action. Neill Blomkamp has been signed on for director and will be making his feature-length film debut with Halo. However, it is unknown what the plot of the film will be and who the cast will consist of.
