Ok well I tried to log on to FFXI and it keeps saying the game could not start....please download the game again...wtf?

i am getting the same message.  is everyone having the problem or is it a selct group?

Thi is getting frustrating...I was like 1k to 69 too...

yes im getting this too and the only way i see to reinstall it is my fromatin my hdd. i already want my old dashboard back

Yeah I hear ya...It didnt work when I tried to play it from the Disc so I figured ok Ill install it and it still dont work.../fume

ok well atleast we're not alone i am sure this problem is widespread and will hpefully addressed shortly if not i have another hard drive i wonder if i could rig somethin up there...

i also have a 2nd hdd and i try it and i keeps on saying the game could not start. Please download the game again. the sad thing is it want 6.7g to download and i dont have that bc that 6.7g is already on my hdd from old dashboard and thes no way to uninstall it bc i cant get into the game to do it.

My game is doing the same thing >.> I've called XBL tech support and they wouldn't even listen to my problem, he just blamed it on my disc and my 360...../slaps

Having the same problem here with 2 360s, 2 different gamertags and 2 different POL accounts.....   i chatted with someone else on my friendslist, and they aren't having the problem.

Lol...how can it be our disc? It worked fine for me last night before this stupid update.

As far as the question about whether everyone is having a problem, no. I updated, loaded to HDD and ran from disk. Works great. I hope your issues are resolved quickly

yup .... gold memberships not working either.  this is a game that we have been playing since the beta release of FFXI for xbox.

I called Tech support for XBL again and he said that lots of people have been calling about it and that it isn't our game discs or 360's, he said it was all on their side and they're trying to resolve it.  Also you can go to the game menu ans hit Y and that gives you the option to download to Hard drive or something, I haven't tried it yet cause I'm afraid it's going to kill my xbox.

shutdown the pol

↓

start the game from hdd

↓

Reinstall the pol

↓

POL update

↓

Game start

hmmm ... this mean that you used the new copy disk to HDD option?  i am at work atm, so i can't try this right now.  anyone at home able to try this and see if this is a fix? 

i saved it to my hdd and still no luck i also deleated my hdd cashe and recovered my gamertag twice still no luck lol... this sux ihave plants growing and a chocobo to raise

I'm going to go try and download it to my HDD and see if I have any luck. I'll let you know the results

has i said before i have a wat is sup to be a 20g hdd whichs comes to 13.9g bc all the junk ms needs. i have ffxi already dl on my hdd which is 6.7g.  before the this update just like everyone either had to. and when i go to install .7it just like it ask too u need 6.7g well i have that 6.7g to install because its already on my hdd. i only have 6.2g. and if u add that up it comes to 13.9g. is which u have from the start. so i need to uninstall it first to do that bu i cant uninstall it becaus i cant get on pol to do that because of it keep on saying the game could not start. Please download the game again. which i cant because it is already download on the hdd before this update just list everyone either had to do to play this game.

ok start disk like normal then at the pol screen hit reinstall pol then fallow directions and it should work...atleast it did for me

Mine doesn't start up the POL screen at all. It starts to run and then a game error comes up saying I need to download the game. I've been trying to make room for the 6.7GB and I can only manage 6.2GB...I hate this new dashboard sooooo much

do you have to go through and re-enter all of the codes, POL ID and password ect if you do that?

mine did that first thing too, but after a couple of try it went into the first main POL screen thats asks me to start, reinstall ....

Well mine still dont work and I cant even get to the POL menu...this sucks...

Same here, nothing is working and this is getting tiresome

well we all pretty much know that calling MS tech support is gonna get you about the same answers ..... dirty disk.  lol  i guess the next stop is calling the SE/POL tech support for those that still cant get it to work.  atleast they are open now. 

Glad to know I'm not the only one with the problem. Apparently installing it from the first disc or the wotg expansion considers it two different games. =/

Well I'm installing the POL viewer right now from my Wotg disc, but my only problem is since FFXI is not coming up in the HD memory, how am I going to be able to install it again w/o the memory to put it on? Or will the new install overwrite it? I just don't understand why it's this hard to play one game >.<

Ok I'm back online! ^^ All I had to do was download POL from the Wotg disc onto the HDD
