No Audio at All post-NXE for HDMI connection to BenQ G2400W Monitor (via headphone jack)

Shogun 316 11-19-2008, 11:58 AM
So I just installed NXE and now I don't have any audio output at all via HDMI to my monitor and into my headphones. This has never been a problem prior to NXE ever since I got my monitor (almost 6 months now) and now I can't hear a damn thing in-game or in the main interface. And yes, I have tried using the original composite/component (only tested composite cause that's the TV I have). And yes, there is audio through that AV cable. But I did not spend a lot of money just for a nice picture and no sound and have no intention to spend even more to get an optical audio output because my previous arrangement worked perfectly.

Right now, NXE is a major problem and I am wondering if other people are currently experiencing the same problems with their HDTVs and/or monitors and have any solutions to fix it.

I have exactly the same monitor and exactly the same problem as you are having right now!!!
Before the new update, everything was good including audio.
But after the new update, audio went away...
What's wrong with the update???
I think the audio is not coming through the HDMI cable, is there bug in this update or what?

Different monitor, same problem.

Switched on my 360 as usual, sound through HDMI no problem. Ran the update, restarted, no sound.

Same problem for me.  I've never had a problem with audio, right after the update, no audio whatsoever.  I'm connecting through HDMI by the way.

I have the same problem with the connection to my television. Well, I felt a bit better when I figured out that I could go back to SD and get some sound via my AV cables.  Phewww

Yup, same here. It was working perfectly before the update last night but now I only get video but no audio whatsoever. I've emailed Support and I hope they'll be a solution.

Same exact setup and problem as OP. The first post in this thread has one solution: http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?p=3519755

It didn't work for me but maybe it'll work for somebody.

Not only on your monitor, I have an IIyama 2403ws and same problem. Also previously I could choose 1080 and 720 resolutions, but now it displays a long list, no HDTV settings anymore. Before the update everything was fine.

Hello everyone,

First, what HDTV are you using? Second, have you tried using your component or composite cable and connecting using the analog red and white cables? Can you receive audio through a stereo cable connection?

Edit: So for the HDMI cable connection, you can also try using the HDMI audio adapter's red and white cable connection.

I get audio from the regular component cables and setup
When using it thru HDMI nothing
When using the HDMI audio adapter i get very little sound, as in I have to turn my stereo on MAX to hear a little sound

Thanks for the advice, but it doesn't help most of us who are using standalone HDMI cables without the audio adapter because HDMI is supposed to output video/audio together as well and there was no problem to that setup before the NXE update. Not everyone can afford a new cable and a set of RCA/digital audio output speakers/headphones.

I don't see why we have to do anything different if it worked perfectly fine before this update?

ok... for all of us who are having problems with getting audio through the hdmi cable.... i had that problem. i called cust. supp. about it. they have no idea what they are doing. they want me to call back in 24 hrs. for right now i have to use my component cable (red/white/yellow/blue/green/red) to get audio. i can still go and set it up for 1080p hd. it still sounds and looks as good as the hdmi though i would still prefer to use my hdmi so there arent as many wires hooked up to the back of my tv. so until they fix this problem with no audio through hdmi cables you have to use the component cables.

Thanks for providing more details everyone such as entertainment setups and HDTV being used. Please understand that I am not trying to say that you should use different cables to get your audio. I am only suggesting possible workarounds I have found while I work with the team who continues to work on investigating the issue.

Thanks again for any information you can provide to better help us understand this issue.

I have the same problem.  This is not isolated.  I own a 28" Viewsonic which has built in speakers.  I run the audio out, however, to a JBL Creature II set.

I have an HDMI switch box as I have three (3) HDMI devices running to my monitor: (1) My WinPC; (2) my HD Cable; and (3) my HDMI out 360.  Prior to the install, as in seconds before I agreed to the update, the sound was working on the 360; after the install and the reboot there was no sound.  I still have sound on the WinPC and the HD Cable, so it's not the setup or my speakers or my monitor or anything like that.  It is, 100%, the patch. Period.

Anyone got any solution other than ripping my HD off while the 360 is on and putting it back in?  That just sounds flat our wrong and dangerous.
