Also previously I could choose 1080 and 720 resolutions, but now it displays a long list, no HDTV settings anymore. Before the update everything was fine.

Can you receive audio through a stereo cable connection?Edit: So for the HDMI cable connection, you can also try using the HDMI audio adapter's red and white cable connection.
I have the same problem. This is not isolated. I own a 28" Viewsonic which has built in speakers. I run the audio out, however, to a JBL Creature II set. I have an HDMI switch box as I have three (3) HDMI devices running to my monitor: (1) My WinPC; (2) my HD Cable; and (3) my HDMI out 360. Prior to the install, as in seconds before I agreed to the update, the sound was working on the 360; after the install and the reboot there was no sound. I still have sound on the WinPC and the HD Cable, so it's not the setup or my speakers or my monitor or anything like that. It is, 100%, the patch. Period.Anyone got any solution other than ripping my HD off while the 360 is on and putting it back in? That just sounds flat our wrong and dangerous.
