1. Welcome
Hello
and welcome to the CoD:WaW Multiplayer FAQ, including in-game weapon
statistics. Hopefully this will help you find any information you need
to know about the online portion of the game and more. This guide will
most likely be expanded on over time to provide more info. Enjoy. :)
2. Ranks and XP
The
ranking system in Call of Duty: World at War is a persistent system
which requires kills, challenges beaten, assists, objectives taken, and
challenges on co-op campaign.
There are 65 levels in Call of
Duty: World at War (for Prestige info, see part 8), each time you get a
promotion, you either receive an unlock, or receive some XP.
Ways to gain XP:
- Kill
- 50 points in Search and Destroy
- 10 points in Sabotage, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag
- 5 points in Free-For-All, Domination, War and Headquarters
- Assist:
- 25 points in Search and Destroy
- 2-8 points in Sabotage, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag
- 1-4 points in Free-For-All, Domination, War and Headquarters
- Complete objective:
- 15 points for flag capture in Domination or War
- 100 points for planting/defusing bomb in Search and Destroy
- 100 points for capturing flag in CTF
- 15 points for being the first to destroy the HQ
- 15 points for capturing HQ + 5 points for every 5 seconds it's held
- 15 points for defusing Sabotage bomb
...and so on.3. Challenges
Challenges
are back and use the same system as Call of Duty 4. When a challenge is
complete, you will receive XP, except for weapon Marksman challenges, which awards you with weapon attachments. Challenges are unlocked at Level 5.
Marksman challenges may award you with attachments like the Aperture Sight, Telescopic Sight, Rifle Grenade, Extra Munitions, Sniper Scope or Bayonet. Certain weapons allow certain attachments.
4. Game Modes
Game
Modes in CoD:WaW MP are split into Core and Hardcore. Hardcore modes
are a variation of Core, though player health is lowered from 100 to 30
and there is no HUD.
Core Playlist:
- Boot Camp
- Locked at Level 8.
- Team Deathmatch for beginners on all maps.
- 6-12 Players
- Team Deathmatch
- Straight up Team Deathmatch on all maps. Use teamwork to kill enemy players and reach the score limit (750)
- 6-12 Players
- Free For All
- Straight up Deathmatch. Every man for himself. Kill everyone. Small maps. Up to 150 points (30 kills)
- 4-8 Players
- War
- Unlocked at Level 14
- Capture battlefield command points one at a time. Secure and hold all positions to achieve victory.
- 6-12 Players
- Ground War
- Unlocked at Level 14
- 18 player War and Team Deathmatch (1000 for TDM)
- 8-18 Players
- Capture the Flag
- Unlocked at Level 14
- Get the enemy flag and return it to your base. (2 rounds, first to 3 flag captures per round, most flag captures at the end of 2 rounds wins)
- 6-12 Players
- Search and Destroy
- Unlocked at Level 14
- Defend and destroy the objective. No respawning. No vehicles. Best of 7 rounds.
- 6-12 Players
- Headquarters
- Unlocked at Level 14
- A neutral base to capture is marked in the level. Capture
and hold it to gain points. The team that holds the HQ doesn't respawn. Up to 250 points.
- 6-12 Players
- Domination
- Unlocked at Level 14
- 3 flags in the level must be captured. Your team gets
points for having control of a flag. The more flags your team holds,
the more points you gain. Up to 200 points.
- 6-12 Players
- Sabotage
- Unlocked at Level 14
- A neutral bomb is in the center of the level and teams
fight to destroy the enemy team's objective. First team to successfully
bomb the enemy objective wins.
- 6-12 Players
- Veteran
- Unlocked at Level 29
- Team Deathmatch for experienced players only.
- 6-12 Players
Hardcore Playlist: [Unlocked at Level 18]
- Team Deathmatch
- Team Deathmatch with limited HUD, extra bullet damage, friendly fire on.
- 6-12 Players
- War
- Limited HUD. Extra bullet damage. Wave spawning delay. Friendly fire on.
- 8-18 players.
- Search and Destroy
- Limited HUD. Extra bullet damage. No vehicles. Friendly fire on.
- 6-12 players.
- Free For All
- Small maps. Every man for himself. Limited HUD. Extra bullet damage. No health regeneration.
- 4-8 players.
NOTE: Once game modes are unlocked, they stay unlocked, even if you enter Prestige Mode.

One
of the best things about CoD:WaW is the freedom of the create-a-class
system [unlocked at Level 4] which allows you to choose a weapon,
sidearm, and 4 perks of your choice from the categories given.

Create-A-Class:
You
unlock Create-A-Class at Level 4. With create a class, you start off
with 5 renameable custom slots in which you can choose a weapon (and
attachment), sidearm, perks and explosives. For all of the weapons and
perks, refer to section 6 and 7.
