This game's like $15 now, worth it?  I liked all the other Need for Speeds, seems like a no-brainer.

I much prefer Carbon to ProStreet.

It still has it's own list of problems though.. If you can pick it up cheap, it may just be worth a look for you while the game servers are still online and the game community is relatively active.

Most Wanted > Undercover > Carbon > Prostreet

It's not the worst, but at least its open world.

Undercover deserves to be buried in a deeper subfile in that rank string roy.  That game took me like 2 days to get 905 points on and it was pathetically easy..with horrible frame rate issues and horrible cut scenes.  Even worse was the poorly done city design.  Nowhere near as cleverly designed as Most Wanted's...which provided really good cop chases...and not vanilla chases down long highway stretches with a hazard marker here & there.  The cars also felt way too arcadey and not as well done as Most Wanted's arcade physics.

Carbon in my opinion is the best and if you can get it for 15$ get it. Carbon > Pro St > then most wanted = to Undercover.

Are you kidding me?  Most Wanted had the most brilliant cop chases and a sprawling city to do them in that I've ever seen in a video game.  Undercover was utter crap and had a very boring city design and whack car physics.  The bloom lighting effect was about the only cool thing about Undercover.  The lighting didn't work well when going in a dark tunnel but other than that it was an artsy looking game....but that was grossly overshadowed by horribly acted cut scenes and a terribly rendered physics engine along with poor framerate issues.

I guess it would be a close debate whether Carbon is better than Undercover.  Deep down I know that it is gameplay wise, but it gets points off for glitchy achievements.  Story wise Carbon was better, but it is a street racing game so I don't really care.  Undercover gets big points for returning to an open world map and cop chases(with choppers even), but the way the cars handle doesn't feel right.  Basically Undercover wins only because it doesn't suck as bad as Prostreet.  After beating it I was amazed to find that I now have 4 completed NFS games on my gamercard.  Hopefully the 5th will be better.

You don't really get a sense of an open world in Undercover when you're clicking down on the D pad race after race.  Sure the glitched achievement is a lazy oversight on EA's part but I'm not gonna really feel like I achieved something anyway if all it requires is showing up somewhere on a particular day.

This game is pretty sweet, my only problem with the game is Neville, this fat boy annoys me so much.  I fired him the first chance I got.

Maybe he should be eating less pasta and doing more situps instead of racing cars in his free time.

Carbon is the best out them four.... i mean five(shift) just because the driving is easier and difficult at the same time. The online comunity is still active theres a lot of good racers and some really good that have been playing it since it came out('06) theres more to do than any of the other ones. ofcourse theres a lot of problems that I either got over or dont care about. Lagging, glitched tracks, car tunnings and the fact that theres some racers that race in single player quick race-ranked and use speed braker to be on top of the leaderboards easily.
theres clans, communities, self claim Legends, Racers, and noobs. so yeah get it! beatthe career and hit me up! I'll hook you up! I have to admit im on my 5th copy!

Carbon > Shift > Undercover  >  MostW  > Pro st.

I like carbon as well but I can't seem to beat events with all three types of cars(tuner and Muscles cars)

   For $15, this game is a bargain. It mightn't be the longest game, but it is alright and for that price, I do recommend it.

Carbon,most wanted,and the underground series were the best need for speed games ever made and the hot pursuit series.

Hey guys, I've owned this since it came out but haven't played online for almost 2 years.

Have the servers been turned off yet as I heard that EA were doing that some time ago?
Just wondered as i'd like to get back into it and get the rest of the XP I need

   I got the Level 50 Achievement late last year - there is no harm in putting the game in again and seeing whether you can jump online or not. I don't recall hearing that they shut down the servers on this game.

Why be mad at EA? Instead be mad at the individual studios that make the games. Dice produced one of the best games I have played on the 360. Blackbox produced an ok one so because the blacbox game was ok I shouldn't give the Dice game a chance just because EA is the distributor. Now that I think of it I should not buy Mass Effect 2 because Bioware was bought out by EA therfore it can not be a good game.
