Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!
OKay,
Here is what i have tried. And here is the situation.
I have 2 Xboxs.
One is my son's.
I have my gamer profile on my memory card, that way we can play each other in multiplayer games.
Whenever i take my memory card out and play on his, i bring it back to mine and it says corrupted data. I delete it and clear cache and i get it back with recover.

I cannot get my son's gamertag to come up on mine when his is transfered to the memory card.
but, when my reads corrupted, i will take it to his xbox and it will work.
I have tried 2 memory cards go the same result, tired 2 xbox;s same result. Just trying to figure this one out so we can play toegther. I have HD on mine and he does not.

Anybody have this issue? If so what was soluton.

Same thing here  --- EXACT same problem!
Read my story here:  http://forums.xbox.com/24568123/ShowPost.aspx

I have had my profile on a memory card for years with no problem.  -- It's only recently happened (since NXE).

Anyone Else???

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!
I wonder if it has anything to do with the avatars ~  becuase I created my avatar on the living room console -- but if I plug it into the bedroom or work xbox -- it says corrupt profile.  I would think due to all the consoles being on live -- if there was any data missing or left behind on the living room box, it would be retrieved when I connected.

But it won't even give me the chance to select my profile.   Hmmmm.....

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!

I'm still working around the issue...  I just wanted to add that the game saves are doing the same as the profile --
If I save my game on my memory card, and go to another 360 -- recover my profile -- when I try to load my saved game file, it states the game save is corrupted.  I can take the memory card back home, and it works fine on the living room system ~ but says corrupt files on any other system.

Anyone have any idea of what's going on or how to remedy this??

I have this problem also, one of my three 360s always shows a profile stored on a memory unit as corrupted, whilst on the other two the profile is fine!

Any more ideas?

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!
So here is my story. This has happened to me, and I am non to pleased about it. I have a Elite that is a referb from a RRoD. It now, after less than six months, does not read discs.

I put my 120 GB drive on a HDMI-less Pro and I have 2 corrupted profiles and 1 usable profile. The 2 corrupted profiles actually have DRM items associated to them.  The 1 profile that remains to this day not corrupt has never had anything purchased with it.

The Pro I am using now is from 2006, my referb Elite is a 2008 model.

As an added bonus I don't have Internet right now, and I don't have any memory units. I have a 120 GB hard drive with 3 profiles on it. That has worked just fine. I have used this hard drive on other Xbox 360s before and never seen corrupted profiles. It was not a daily occurance but when I would take my hard drive to someone's house, I could always just on Live and use my paid for items.

Now I need to purchase a 5th Xbox 360, as the one I am using is not mine, and go through the well over hour long proces of recovering my Gamertag (I have had to do that before). I guess I should buy a MU before I recover my tag.

So all my game saves are lost now huh?

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!
I'm having the same problem. I had to send my Xbox in cause the Rrod. While that was out I was using my friends Xbox. When I got it back my profile as well as 6 more profiles weren't there. I went to memory and it said they were corrupted but if I put my hard drive into my friends, they were fine. I deleted my profile and did the gamertag recovery. It let me log in but when I went play Saints row 2 it wouldn't load my save. I went to the other console and loaded just fine. But when I went back to mine it was corrupted again. I called MS back and told them about it. They said it was a problem with the console so I sent it back. When I got that back, it still did it. I gotten to the point where I quit playing my Xbox cause of it. I just now trying to fix it again.

The only thing that I can think of  is the older model Xbox is having some kind of problem with the NXE. The one I have now is a 2006 model as was the one they sent me before. My friends is a 2008 model. I don't know the date on the one that got Rrod. If only there was a way to delete the NXE and reapply it. You listening Microsoft!

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!
Bit of an old thread but im bumping this so hopefully someone at MS will take notice (doubtful)...

Im having the same issue. My pro died with an E74, sent it in, got a replacement back - the drive died 3 months and a day later (one day out of the 3 month warranty for replacement consoles), so I thought *** it and bought an Elite.

Put my 20 gig HD on while waiting for the transfer cable, and my profile is corrupt. I had to spend nearly an hour waiting for it to recover, but now when I take that HD to my friends (who isnt online) it says the profile is corrupt again.

Its an absolute joke, and kind of defeats the whole point of having a roaming profile. They might as well just remove the whole roaming thing altogether, because its 100% broken atm. This has only happened since I got my replacement console back, before it was fine (but since it still happens with the Elite im assuming it has nothing to do with the console itself).

Having searched Google I know there are lots of people with this problem, and support are no use (surprise surprise) fobbing me off with whatever script they have written on the screen whether it has anything to do with the problem or not - "have to tried unplugging the A/V cable?" - what has that got to do with anything?!?)

Hopefully someone will pick this up - if anyone works anything out in the mean time let us know!

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!

Hi guys,

Just caught this thread thought I would add my comments:

I have had exactly the same issue as you guys, I have tried multiple HDD and xbox`s but the profile/gamertag is allways currupted when I put the HDD back onto my original console.

Anyway I have been speaking to support and it was passed onto a Senior Technician who called me this morning.

His exact words were "ahhhh this is an issue we are aware of and are working on"

He told me to give it a day or 2 recover my gamertag and see if it worked then if not call them back (I dont know if he has done anything to my account or not)

Just thought I would let you know as it seems they are aware of this issue

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!
Same thing happened to me. I started playing res 5 on my home console (no hdmi port) with my 120 HD that i bought. I saved all the data to it. I brought the HD back to apartment at college and plugged it into my other xbox there, which is a newer one (has hdmi port). But when I come home with my 120HD and try to play on my old console it says my gamer profile and my save data is corrupt. Im thinking it may have something to do with the consoles being different versions. Almost like once you play on a new version of the 360 you cant go back. Im gonna go to my local gamestop and see if they will let me plug my HD into one of their newer consoles and see if it still says its corrupt. If it still says it then i guess i can rule out that idea. Just thought Id let share. Its hard to find info on this issue!!!

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!
So Microsoft - any help on this at all? I have the exact same issue now. I was using a premium machine plus an arcade machine and switching profiles between them via memory card was fine. But the premium broke and so I replaced it with an Arcade machine but a newer one with built in memory. Now, whenever I take the mem card out of my arcade machine (the new HDMI one) and place it back in my older Arcade machine (no onboard mem or HDMI) it says the profile is corrupted again.

Getting sick of this now and what is worse is coming here, reading various stories yet NEVER SEEING ANY ANSWERS FROM MS on the issue. Isn't this supposed to be tech support? I may as well not have the second machine in the bedroom at the moment as it can take anywhere up to 30-40 mins to recover a profile (Why the hell it takes that long I shall never know).

Has anyone found a solution for this as so far it seems I wasted money buying a new second machine. thanks MS!

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!
I'll throw my hat in this ring, in case it's a matter of replies that might draw some attention.  This just happened to me last night.  I keep my Profile and a couple saves on a 512 mb memory card.  I took it to my cousin's house, plugged it into his Elite and ever since I can't play it on his Pro or my Elite at home.

Besides being time consuming did they ever fix the Recovery system so that you don't lose all your saves?  Is anything 'lost' permanently?  I know how to do the process, but are there any side effects as far as saves and such go?

Thanks to the community, as MS seems to have no interest in answering questions.

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!
Well in case Microsoft is paying attention, I have the same problem everyone here is reporting.  I had an old X-Box which was refurbished from a RROD.  A year or so after getting it, the video output started going bad.  The whole screen would look yellowish and then eventually it stopped outputting video altogether.  Rather than pay $100 to get it fixed and wait a month without an X-Box, I decided to pick up an Arcade for $200.  I put my 120G hard drive on the Arcade machine and everything was fine.....until I bought GH-Metallica.  For some reason, the Arcade X-Box refuses to play this disc and only this disc.  I swapped out three copies of the disc and none of them worked on my Arcade X-Box.  But those same discs worked on multiple other X-Boxes just fine.  So I decided to bite the bullet and send my old X-box in for repair before sending the Arcade X-box in for repair for the faultly CD-ROM drive.  That way I would still have a mostly functional X-Box the whole time.  So today my fixed old X-Box (refurbished) came back and I put my 120G hard drive on it and guess what....my profile says it's corrupted.  I recover the profile and try to load a save game but the save games are all corrupted too now.  I put the 120G hard drive back on the old Arcade machine and the profile and the save games all work fine.  I put the hard drive back on the new X-box and again it says the profile is corrupted!  It's interesting all this talk about HDMI ports because my Arcade machine has an HDMI port but the new X-box they just sent me doesn't have one.  Maybe X-Boxes with HDMI ports corrupt the profile so machines without HDMI can't read it.   I spent most of the day talking to tech support and they didn't have a clue and had a lot of mis-information.  They actually told me that I'm not allowed to use a profile on more than one X-Box.   Finally they escalated me to next tier support but they need to call me back....I'm still waiting.
What fun.

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!
I am having this same problem too.

I sent in a E74 system to get repaired. When it came back repaired, I tried playing a game on it using my profile I have on a 512meg memory card. It showed that it was corrupted. So I tried my profile on my Jasper system and it worked fine. Took it back to the newly repaired system and yet again it showed that my profile was corrupt. So the only way I can play anything on the other Xbox is to do system recovery. Which is a pain in the @ss and takes almost a half an hour. What's the point of having multiple 360s in the house if we can't use them easily like before?

I want this fixed. Super Angry [8o|]

Ronabo,
Does one of your systems have an HDMI port and the other doesn't?

An update to my story above is that a next Tier support person called me back the next day and it took me an hour and a plea to read this thread before he conceded that I had a real problem that couldn't be solved by their scripts.  He said he'd report it to the tech guys but then a week called me back and told me that he was a XBox Live support person and I needed to call back and talk to their hardware department.  Ha, like I'm going to waste another couple hours talking to online help support.  I decided to bite the bullet and start using my old X-Box without the HDMI port and start over in saved games which aren't compatible with the "corrupted" gamer profile.

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!
Are you signing out before you remove the memory card?
Much like USB drives if you eject them while data it being written there is a possibility that the file will be corrupted.

If your having ongoing issues, format the memory card and then recover your tag back onto it. Once that is complete log out and try it on another system.

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!
Like I mentioned, one of my systems is a new Jasper unit. So it has HDMI and the built in 256 memory. My profile works fine on the new system. It doesn't on the newly repaired unit.

And I've tried various ways of either signing out before I shut down the console or shutting it down using the power button on the unit. Nothing works. When I take my MU over to the other console and try to sign it my profile doesn't show up. When I go to look at it, it shows that it's corrupted.

None of the system type Avatar data could be copied. So I'm not sure if that's what wrong or not. I kinda do remember some sort of Avatar file on my MU that's not there anymore.

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!

I'm still in this boat as well.
I have tried everything -- formating drives, MUs, with HD, without HD....   every configuration I can think of ~ and the problem still remains.

I have a orginal run xbox360 MFR: 2005-10-10 that corrupts game saves and profiles used on it.  I is non-HDMI, and has been through the MS RROD process.  I have 7 other 360 units that work fine.  Profile and games saves roam just fine.  It's just this one unit that corrupts everything it touches.

I do not believe the problem is resulting from HDMI/NON-HDMI units -- as I have several of both that allow my profile to be used freely, without the corruption.  I'm thinking this problem effects a larger number of the units -- as the majority of users profiles never leave thier home unit, so they would never know they had the problem.

Still waiting...   and recovering my profile....   waiting......   recovering.....

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!
Right now i have 3 XBOX 360's in my house,, 1 20GB Pro (Component Video @ 1080i), 1 60GB Pro (VGA Cable at 1680x1050), and 1 120GB Elite (HDMI @ 1080P) all running the NXE.. None of them are the new Jasper revisions and all 3 have been sent in and repaired for the RRoD at some point. Only the Elite has an HDMI.  I have always kept my Gamer Profile on my 512MB memory unit.  Up to last night I have been able to move and use the gamer profile on All 3 of my XBOX 360's play and move with no problems.

However, last night that changed when suddenly with no changed configuration or update that i am aware of my 60GB Pro started corrupting profiles and/or any other file that is accessed by that system.   I am certain that any item used on any xbox 360 gets that xbox's unique digital signature.  Now for some reason this xbox corrupts anything it digitally signs.  The result, not able to use my profile on the other two systems without first taking the LONG time to recover my profile from xbox live. The major irritation here is that the XBOX 360 that is corrupting items is the system that we use to purchase all of our marketplace data like (Game Expansions, Arcade Titles, Themes, and Videos)  It is the only system that is easily connected to the internet because of location in the house.

I pulled out an old 20GB hard drive and attached it to this console, Formatted it, did the CACHE Clearing from MEMORY > HARD DISK location, and restored the system defaults while at the SYSTEM INFO screen.  Non of this corrected the issue, so there is no chance that it is a corrupted file on the hard drive as Microsoft tech support suggested, i even used a virgin 512MB memory unit.  Their tech support is just about a complete waste of time.  I was on the phone with them for about 2 hours last night trying to get this sorted out.   The agent I was talking to acted all surprised like I had discovered a whole new problem that they had never seen before... He even suggested I send the XBOX to them so they could examine the system, figure out the problem, and repair it... Then after i said OK he said,, Oh wait, this system is out of warranty, so you'll have to pay $100 for us to look at it.. SERIOUSLY? MICROSOFT? Did he really say that to me?  The system Works fine asside from the fact that it decided to start a 100% corruption sweep on any content accessed by the system..   I guess I will have to download my profile again (1 hour +) everytime i want to play my Space Invaders Extreme or Fallout Brotherhood of Steel or anything else that i have purchased from XBOX LIVE on that system.  Microsoft can you sense my irritation with this...  I HAVE PURCHASED 5 XBOX 360's over the life of the product, only 3 work, while 2 rest in their graves.   Your faulty hardware has cost me a moderate fortune.   Your SOFTWARE PROBLEMS ARE COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!! FIX THIS, OR REPLACE THE SYSTEM AND ALLOW ME TO TRANSFER MY MARKETPLACE PURCHASES MORE THE ONCE A YEAR!

If anyone comes up with a fix for this, please let me know...

Thanks

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!
Still suffering this problem as well. I did notice the last time I recovered my tag, that it reset the theme I had set on my HDMI model. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to have the standard MS theme on my HDMI machine and see if that makes a difference when taking my mem card out of it and transferring it to the non-hdmi model.

It is so strange because I can take the mem card to my non-hdmi model and it says it is corrupt, but plug it straight back to the hdmi model and it works straightaway - so the profile itself is definitely NOT getting corrupt.

Trouble is my other machine is in the bedroom and without a wireless dongle I have to run a stupdily long ethernet cable to it just so that I can sit for half an hour recovering a gamertag. Why the heck does it take so ling to recover? Surely it should be a few seconds seeing as all your data is stored in MS servers and any saves I have are on the hard drives I have attached to my machines. It is crazy and a lack of replies in this thread makes a mockery of the supposed tech help you should be getting here direct from MS. Not happy!

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!
further to my last post that hasn't been approved yet, I did my experiment with the themes thing and it didn't work sadly. I recovered my gamertag on my main machine the other week and that is the only time I sucessfullymanaged to transfer it to my non hdmi model. Since then it keeps corrupting, so something happens when games are saved to the "main machine".

My next thing to try will be to totally delete my avatar and go back to a gamertag and see what happens then. I may also delete an saved games for games I have finished and have no intention of going back to.

Like others though, this seem to happen out of the blue so I reckon MS changed the DRM stuff somewhere along the way.

Thanks MS for this, I have 2 machines...yes 2 machines, and have owned another that broke in the past, and yet no one can get any sense from you at all as to how to fix this. I guess the only other hope, is that the PS3 gets its act together and my friends start using that system instead.

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!
I'm starting to believe this is avatar related. I noticed on my main machines hard drive there is a file connected with avatar information in the memory section under system items. This file can't be copied across to the memory card. I wonder if when you transfer your profile to another machine via a memory card, that it thinks it is corrupt because it can't load the avatar info?

Of course, MS have made it so that you can't delete an avatar character once you have created one - and there seems to be no way to transfer avatar info to a memory card at all. Typical MS, saying avatars were an optional thing, but then making sure once you create one, you are stuck with it. Of course, this also makes it impossible to check whether an avatar is causing the problem, and MS seem incapable of replying to technical posts it seems. It isn't the first time I have come to these forums with an issue only for it to remain unanswered by anyone at MS. It is usually other xbox users who help each other out. So far my second machine is proving to be a great big waste of money.

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!

I am having a very similar (maybe the same) issue on my Red 360. It seemed to start after an E66 error. Now, I am unable to take the memory card to any other units. Both the profile and save game files show up as corrupt on any other unit, but are still usable on this one. I have already verified that it is not isolated to the memory card, the profile (tried several), or the game title.

I'm placing a call in to support tomorrow. Let's hope I get a decent answer.

Re: Gamer File always corrupted. Help!!
I got hit by this too, about 3 weeks ago. My elite died on me but as it was only 8 months old, the store replaced it with a brand new one.

I kept my hard drive and just popped it in and boom, my profile is corrupted. I nearly cried.
Luckily I recovered it, but now I am blocked out of accessing my saves for a fair few games. They read as being corrupted when I try and load them up but in the system memory they are not corrupted.

I KNOW I am just being blocked from loading them and there is nothing really wrong with them, and it is because my hard drive is on a new machine. The question is, why, and what is going to be done about it.

I had to explain this to around 12 tech advisors on the customer support line, then finally I get told a supervisor will phone me back. Guess what - no phone back, 3 weeks later.

It's a joke.

Update: I gave up and phoned them back. Would probably die before they returned my call like they said they would. Just RUDE. Anyway after 40 minutes on the phone to tech support...no one had a clue and nothing is being done.

The first guy didnt know the difference between save game data and arcade games, after ten minutes of me explaining exactly what the problem was he decided to tell me over and over to redownload the games despite me nearly screaming 'YOU CANT DOWNLOAD SAVES' at least 5 times, before losing all will to live and asking to speak to anyone else - even a small monkey, or a dead cat, just ANYONE!

Finally get to the supervisor, and he gets me to try and access my saves with a new profile... like when has a profile ever been able to access saves made by another profile?
Then he asks me if there are exclamation marks on any of the saves in the memory... I said no MY SAVES ARE NOT CORRUPTED, (which I had already specified at least ten times) to cut a long and painful story short, he then says that there is no solution and I have to start a new profile and play all the games again.

Seriously.

I mentioned this thread, said how many people this has happened to - it is NOT an isolated incident and I am NOT letting it drop, I also naturally expressed just how unlikely it is that I start over again.

He is phoning me back in two hours. *MASSIVE SIGH* Guess I will phone them back tomorrow when they yet again fail to do what they say.
