konami/ digital elcipse give all their retro titles a face and audio lift with the option to go back to the original visuals and audio if you want. What bandai namco are doing is lazymans ports and then tacking on achievements. Is it too much for them to do some upgrades, new rally x is a not worth the 400 pts they ask for, more like 100 pts, i am a retro gamer and played these games back in the days of the arcade when they first got released back in the 80's, yes i do love to play these games, but i feel that why couldn't namco have got some people to do some updated work on these games they have ported, you can play this version on that 5 in 1 arcade stick. I don't hate the game but feel bandai namco are being lazy assed about these ports and not doing these games any justice by not giving them both visual and audio upgrade options. I personally think konami and midway are doing the right thing by upgrading the visuals and audio on their retro titles to give them a new lease of life. Shame on you bandai namco.
The only thing Konami did in Contra to enhance the graphics was to add some effects to the explosions. And the problem is, these enhancements are problematic in the tunnel sequences because enemy bullets get lost in mess.
And audio? Those tinny, metallic midi-sounding "enhanced" tracks are an improvement to you? Original BGM ftw!
