1) Having 103 victories and 70 losses in CATAN but no 1000vip achievement is something likely !
     ...about one of 8 person in the top leaderboards has similar difficulties, starting with number five
     ...the number five worldwide in catan has approximately 700 wins and over 1000 losses but still no achievement !
2) I have heard of people unlocking chancellor of catan later than it should unlock...
but this is in a way odd !
3) I have read about people deleting their game and recovering their profile on another Hard Drive to download
Catan again and then earn achievements !
4) Some told me that it is because of people quitting !
5) Not long ago I saw a guy that unlocked STATESMAN of CATAN after the Achievement I m writing of !

...it is for sure that there is at least one bug in this awesome boardgame !
In the one hand there are people they don t really care about achievements in the other hand there are people like me they do care and thats why I started this THREAD , I want you P E O P L E to find solutions together !

during the next 2-3 weeks I will play 105games with 3 bodies to test if I can still unlock....CHANCELLOR..

ANYONE there interested in spelling out what he or she experienced concerning this fact !  

It wouldn't hurt to delete the game and redownload it.  Out of frustration, I've deleted it a few times.  It could be the reason why some people have the last achievement.  I never installed it to another hard drive though, just the original.  The achievement unlocked for me after I had long given up unlocking it.

I got a new hard drive and downloaded the game onto it then played. The largest army achievement unlocked when I got it for the second time.

I've read (on other boards) that if you "recover" your gamertag, that the "counters" from Catan are lost (as they are on your hard drive, but not on the xbox live server). Then any achievement you missed can be obtained by "starting over". I've emailed Big Huge Games about this, and THQ (who owns Big Huge Games now). I'm not buying another THQ game until it's fixed. I'm surprised that Microsoft doesn't have a little more control built in to their contracts that require these devs to fix their achievement problems (since achievements are required).

I believe all the extra time people are putting into this game because of the glitch is better for the player.  I can only say that now because I have the achievement though. 

I'm probably about 70-100 points away from getting the first point total achievement, but I get frustrated when people keep dropping out and you end up only having 2 or 3 points count towards that total.  If developers can get a couple dozen people playing Halo, COD or any other FPS why can't they get 4 players to play through a simple board game?

I made a post on achieve360points explaining how I got the 500 ranked VP points achievement in just a couple of games by placing/unplacing settlements after the other three players quit.  I continued this for a couple games and knew I was around the 970 mark.  I then played a full 4-person game, placing and unplacing a couple times a turn which people didn't really like.  At one or two points in this game I got Longest Road.  I finished with what I thought was about 60 victory points, putting me up to 1030, and never got the achievement.  So maybe I went from 999 to 1001 on a longest road?  I played a couple more games after this and should be over 1200 VPs but do not have the achievement.

I have won 100 games and have not been given the Chancellor achievement.  I deleted my profile and the game, removed my hard drive, installed my profile and Catan to a memory card, turned it on, logged in, started the game, played a few rounds, still wasn't awarded.

Total crap.  It really seems like such a ridiculously easy thing to have work.  MS could manage it from their leaderboards even without the game.

They advertise that their gamerscore feature makes LIVE! unique, but apparently it doesn't always work, making it somewhat pointless.  I wonder what other games I'm missing achievements in?

After long testing and boosting I finally figured out what to do against these catan bugs !

First: never ever try to unlock two achievemets in one game at the same time!

trust me ,it is better not to, because you shouldn t risk what happened to many others by not unlocking some easy achievements like ten times the longest road !

Second: the easiest way to do the big achievemets concerning Chancellor and ..... of Catan is to use the method of building a city or a settlement and then quickly undo it and repeat that process til time is up !(the city method works better cause you have a counter for it that tells you when you should unlock your achievement, use LB and you will see a huge number of settlement pieces remaining that grows for every new city)

I suggest not doing this by your own cause I don t want people messing up others game ,so group up in a party and look for each other in ranked ,you will find eachother !(don t forget , never do both achievements in one run,
it s better to restart a new game than risking a bug)

Third: for those already infected by a bug please don t give up !

Catan has a piculiar way of counting your vips: if you quit during a ranked game your entire points earned during the match wont count !..... but there is a way how to reset this counter:
for this you need another xbox and another HDD so I propose to recover your profile on another box !
by now you did reset the counter and you have a new chance to unlock your robbed achievemets !
..........................so party up and help eachother !

I agree with your first point.

2nd point...   I wouldnt advise doing that in a proper ranked game. It would be likely to really annoy the other players.

3rd point.... If youve done the first point, then no need for this. Im also up in the air as to whether or not this would actually work. (coming from someone that has played Catan on 4 different accounts now trying to get the ranked cheeves, its currently working on this account because i stuck religiously to piont one.)

Piztup ,yeah exactly, thats why you should get your profile that is infected by a bug on another box and another HDD to avoid this bug , it means that the only chance to get your well deserved achievement is to RECOVER your account on another ..........: a friennd of mine traded account with someone thats how they got their achievements!!

and ....the only anoying achievements in catan are the 2muliplayer achievements ,i can do the rest in 1 hour becase its so easy to place and replace a settlement to get your 250 vips!!

I have the pleasure of owning 2 different Xbox 360's, but like a lot of people, I'm still having problems unlocking some of the achievements.  I typically play on the 360 in my room, would the achievements unglitch itself if I were to recover my gamertag on my other 360 and then replaying it on 360 in my room or would I have to play on the other console? (I also have a Memory Card, so is a account recovery neccessary?)
