camera angles
why, oh please tell me why, they are so rubbish....... i almost threw my controller out of the window earlier. trying to glide and land on something in the last but one level (with Matt Groening) and i couldn't do it as the camera angle kept switching. I called the game everything under the sun, then had to do some power walking, just to get rid of the stress!!!

Re: camera angles
I know exactly what you mean, I just did that level last night. When that happens, you have to pick your line early, and just let the camera go ape s*** without adjusting your path.
When I die, I want to go like grandpa, peacefully while I'm asleep. Not screaming like the other people in his car.

Re: camera angles
it is one of the most anoying cameras in a game, i think its one that EA uses in a fair few of its games. I personally think it wud be ok if it stayed where you put it rather than resetting itself.

itd hard work trying to juggle two sticks to get the character pointing in the right direction

Re: camera angles
I agree, for a platformer, the camera in this game is pretty gol-darn-diggity bad. I can overlook it though, since the rest of the game is so much fun imo.

To be perfectly honest, I cannot remember finding the camera tedious at all, really, I cannot remember it being a problem ever.

Re: camera angles
I think the game developers for this tried really hard to parody other games -- it's a joke in a way.  The camera is a joke, not in that it's broken, in that they designed it specifically to be like that.  It's EXACTLY like the camera in Tomb Raider games.  If you've never played a Tomb Raider game, you wouldn't understand.  But once I finished The Simpson's Game, I realized that the developers tried really hard to mess with us, and the "frustrating" camera seemed to be one of their games...

Re: camera angles
Turtle, I never thought of it like that. This game does excel in making fun of other games, and it does it well. I think aided in making this game as enjoyable as it is/was.

It must work better south of the equator.

Re: camera angles
in the last cut scene where God is playing the Simpsons video game he stops and looks at the manual and asks how to change the camera angles. i just laughed and yelled "even God has camera angle problems!" yeah this is the one MAJOR draw back to the game.
yes... because whining about it made it SO much better

Your post seems to confirm that it is indeed that way intentionally by design and that the developers are 100% aware of it! But that's not to say we have to like it (either).

Well one poster suggested that since the game serves as a massive parody of other games and movies, the notion of a horrible camera angle was also included. I am not sure, but I think that it was tolerable, it might just take slight adjustments on the angle (if possible) before taking a jump and then trying to navigate yourself given the view avaliable. All in all, this is about the third game to incorporate such a view system which has been complain about by other gamers. At least the game's humour makes up for it I guess.

Re: camera angles
but at the same time, sacrificing function for a subtle joke that almost NO ONE got seems like cutting off your nose so you can laugh and say... "HA HA i have no nose!" if that was intentional i think it was a huge miscalculation in what a gamer and a simpsons fan will tolerate. if it wasnt intentional, they need to drag the game tester that missed that giant f up into the lunch room and publicly behead him

I really do think it was intentional -- the way it sometimes slowly pans around to give you an angle that you really don't want, as if it's trying to show you something obvious. To me, it seemed like an exaggeration of the camera in Tomb Raider games.

As I played this game, it often frustrated me, but once I figured something out, I usually had a "DOH!" moment, realizing that what I was trying to do wasn't hard at all, I was just "missing it".

Re: camera angles
in agreement. camera angles are one of the worst aspects of this game. it's a fun, casual, funny game that's a must-play for anyone that's a fan. not a fan of the camera, though.

Re: camera angles
I personally would not go so far as to say "total crap", but at time certainly a bit frustrating. But it is pretty easy to get used too.
