MNQ: DDR3 and the Dance Pad, Xbox 360 Compatibility?
Will the New DDR3 be compatible with the Xbox 360?  Will there be a dance pad designed for it?  Or a converter so I can plug the Xbox one into a Xbox 360?  My family plays it and now I can't sell my xbox because they still want to be able to play it.

They do make an Xbox to USB adaptor:  http://www.midwest-games.com/xboxxboxtopc.html

But I'm not sure if the Xbox 360 will support it or not.

I doubt MN reads questions in this forum.  Nevertheless, Xbox 1 controllers of all shapes and sizes (SB controllers, DDR pads, what have you) are incompatible with 360.  However, there is the aforementioned USB adapter an the Ignition 3.0 has a USB cable on it, but I don't know if those will work as controllers.

The Xbox to USB adapter doesn't convert the Xbox's socket to USB.

Basically, you know you can split the Xbox's cable so that you have a bit hanging from the console, with an s-video shaped socket along the wire? Well you connect THAT to the USB, not the large, plug thing.

That's what I meant.  It connects at the inline release.

Acording to midihead (who's song was used in DDRU 2 and 3) Konami will make a big announcement in december concerning ddru.

Yeah, he said before he had another podcast coming in December.  And Midihead is a remixing GOD.

Here's my theory:

There isn't a single dance pad currently on the market that will work on the 360, and it'll stay like that until a dance pad is tailored to work with the 360. USB is out of the question, because the USB ports allow the pad to function as a PC controller, and Xbox 360 isn't exactly a PC.

Interesting theory, however, I doubt it would be much trouble to use a PC dance pad on an Xbox 360 console. From what I’ve been told, it’s already possible to do so…  So, I guess the only thing we’re waiting for is a game that would work on the Xbox 360… Hope it’ll be possible soon. It’s most likely though, that since there’s no “official” game pad, developing support is far from being a priority.

You must have misread the thread.  The Ignition 3.0, which is compatible with the PC, reportedly does not work on the 360.

Here at the end of December now, was anything ever mentioned?

No.  It was just a contest.  If you went on his site and answered a question, you could have won a little prize.

Still, no one has answered magicmanp's question. Will DDRU3 work on the 360. This is the main thing i want answered.

Are DDRU and DDRU2 on the BC list? Why would DDRU3?

I don't know when Microsoft will make DDR backwards compatible, but I had my eye on Ebay, and bought an original XBOX for $7.11. I knew I would be impatient, but wasn't going to buy some illegal chip and break my warranty to play the games ahead of time. Anyways, back to the point, if you grow impatient, check out Ebay, and if you cannot find one cheap, Pump It Up: Exceed is out already for the 360 as a backwards compatible game. I am getting that to see if it works. I'll write back later if it does, and hope you look into these other ideas.Big Smile [:D]

Okay. I bought the game, and had a fun talk with XBOX Technical Support, telling me in order for the mat to communicate, you would have to find an adapter that Xbox doesn't sell. In other words: more internet research needed. I take it that the adapter will work with DDR mats, however, that yet is not BC.

About the adapters- what if you cut off the round things on the wire and soldered the ends together, would that change the wire from being a bridge and turn it into a nomal wire for the pad to get a signal?Hmm [^o)]

I talked to an XBOX support person and asked if it is possible to use a dance mat with the 360's wired inline release to usb safety. Response: "Good question! I would like to give you an answer, however, our network is down at the moment. Thanks for calling. (and waiting. lol)" So, if the network is down, shouldn't you have a repair company get it up and running like, hmm, you??? I guess we all aren't having much luck with DDR, huh?

You could always test it yourself if you had an Ignition pad.  You should be able to navigate the Dashboard menu with the direction buttons on the pad.

Even if you get the pad working, what's the point right now? There are no games :(

Are there?

Pump It Up, perhaps?

DDR is bound to land on the list eventually.  The Ultramix games made use of every Live feature they could (User-created content FTW) and UM1 is a Platinum Hit.

I hope they come up with some kind of adapter.  I spend hundred of dollars on my 2 metal pads and there is no way in *** I am getting 2 new ones just because we upgraded to xbox 360.
