Tournament qualifying next to impossible

On the one hand, it's great that there still seems to be weekly online tournaments and a lot of people still playing this game.

On the other hand, it just seems like qualifying for one of these tournaments is next to impossible for all but the elite players.  (I can't imagine what it must have been like to try and qualify during this game's heyday.)

Saturday night, I had qualified for the latest tournament, "American Muscle."  By last night, I had dropped to 135th place and more than 8 seconds off the qualifying pace.  I significantly improved my time last night, climbing back up to 80th place and about 1.3 seconds off the qualifying pace, but even as I was trying to requalify last night, the qualification bar dropped more than a full second while I was actually out there.  I suspect if I were to log in now, I'd see that I'm probably pushed back down into the 100's.  I just don't think I'll ever have what it takes to qualify against the elite, even with fewer people playing the game now.  Sad [:(]

That problem is there already from the beginning. With the first tournament (Lamborghini) my friend didn't connect in the half-finals, pretty sad for him! So thanks to him I was already by the best 14 gamers of Europe, with the first tournament. In that period it was not only the connecting to the rooms a hell, qualifying was almost impossible that time...

I guess I can no longer race in this type of events since they made it too hard for me to enter.

Well its infinitely easier than it was before pgr4 came out. Just for fun I decided to qualify for the american muscle tournament and ended up in 45th after just doing 3 laps!

I haven't tried to qualify lately...  I got discouraged by never making the cut.  I suppose I should see how close I can get now that there are fewer people playing.

I am not really good at this game and that achievement ist the only one missing. I had hoped people would have stopped playing this game after 2 years but i am wrong, hehehe :) Gonna try again as soon i get to play again. I want my 1000 points complete dammit.

It's not hard. I managed to get just under the qualifying time, until someone did better. Sucks, cause I was sooo close to getting the cheevo as the qualifying ended the following day. Still have yet to get it.

well i am far from an elite player. in fact i through this game in this week for the first time in probably a year or more. i decided to try and get my last achievement needed. the tournament one. i ended up 34th place after about 10 times around the track. so it isn't as difficult as it used to be. i have tried so many times in the past and could never even break the top 100. so i guess my point is its not as hard as you think. just keep trying. you will get it. I have had this game from day one, and now i finally got into one. tonight is my race at 10:45

I hope you can join the room. So be sure you're the first one.....you can join the room 15 minutes before the race. :)

I finally qualified 18 months after starting the game.
It was a nightmare but definately easier than when I 1st played it.
Unfortunately you do have to do a near perfect lap and it doesn't help that some competitions are manual gears.
To all those still trying, keep at it, its very rewarding when you do qualify Smile [:)]

You will get it, eventually.

I got lucky, the tournament i qualified in was in a Ferarri Testarossa (i can drive this car good) and on a course that wasnt too bad... so i felt confident that this was my best chance.

You just need it to be in a car you can drive really really good, i qualified 32 out of 64, not great but it was still qualification.

Keep at it, it may take a long time but it is worth it, just.

never give up! if you want it you will get it!

like marike nl said, the first tournament was extraordinary hard to qualify! but during two weeks i practice and practice more than 2h/day and finaly get it!

now you just have 1 week but less people and it'll be more and more easier. GL

Indeed, it takes now 1 or 2 rounds for qualifying.....

I was at Zero Hour for the 360 launch and was getting PGR3 achievements before the system was on sale to the general public.  I've been stuck at 950 points since they did a title update.  Just *yesterday* did I finally qualify for a tournament.  :)  (granted, I haven't played the game in like 3 years)

...finally...
