Section III: Story

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

The story of Knights of the old republic begins long before the star wars movies. It takes place 4 000 years before the Galactic Empire to be exact.

The Mandalorian War was in progress. Mandalorians were attacking, and the Republic was fighting back. They Jedi refused to take part however. The greatest Jedi of that time was named Revan. Revan did not agree with the council’s decision to not take part in the war. So Revan and his/her apprentice Malak gathered together the Jedi who would take part in the war, and against the council’s wishes, went and fought. The mandalorians did not stand a chance against Revan and his/her tactics. Revan was a tactical genius, and used everything to his/her advantage. The mandalorians finally gave up. Revan however ordered the ships to go further into space. Revan said they were looking for the last of the Mandalorians. Instead, they found the Star Forge. Revan, as powerful as he/she was, fell to the dark side, took up the mantle of Sith Lord, and took many Jedi along the path or darkness. When few ships returned home, the Jedi council became worried. The Jedi Civil war began, almost immediately after the already damaging Mandalorian War. The Jedi sent a strike team onto Revan’s ship to capture him/her. Malak fired on Revan’s ship in a cowardly act of betrayal. Malak was the new Lord of the Sith. The team sent to capture Revan, took his nearly dead body to the Jedi council. They used the force and reprogrammed what was left of his mind. They gave him/her a new identity, and hoped that he/she would not remember his/her true identity and return to the dark side.

5 years later…

Back during the Mandalorian Wars, many people followed Revan. The one known as The Exile was one of the one’s who had followed Revan into war. The Exile was forced to give up being a Jedi by the council, and had to surrender his lightsaber. In depression, the Exile lost connection to the force. The council did not come to this decision lightly.

You were stationed on your ship The Harbinger when it was attacked. You retreated in the Ebon Hawk, which took quite a bit of damage itself. The ship regained partial power thanks to trusty little T3. The little astromech landed the ship on Peragus Mining Station for repairs. Turns out there is a bounty on Jedi, and when the station learns about you, all he// breaks loose. You slowly begin to regain your powers as well. After you escape the station with a few people you met there, you begin your quest to find out what happened to your powers. You quickly learn of the bounty on Jedi, and how much Jedi are currently hated because of their supposed “abandonment.” Later on in the game, you find and round up the Jedi who exiled you, and then you learn a Dark Secret about Kreia, the old woman who joined you. Turns out she wants to destroy the force! Now we cant let that happen, Good or not, can we?

Thus ends the story of KOTOR I and II.

Section IV: Characters

Mira

A bounty hunter scout who combs the Republic and the Outer Rim for anyone and anything with a price on its head, Mira reels them in and cashes them out. While driven by a mercenary need for cash, she avoids contract killing. In the past, she has killed only in self-defense, and even then reluctantly.

Mira comes equipped with bounty hunter-specific weaponry, including a versatile wrist-mounted rocket launcher that allows her to target a single opponent with concussion or tranquilizer darts, or decimate hordes of enemies with buster or ion rockets-the ideal way to level the playing field when you're outnumbered.

Darth Sion

His body has been torn and knitted back together into a patchwork of mutilated flesh. His skeleton has been shattered and meticulously rebuilt. Darth Sion is a Sith Lord in eternal pain, his broken body held together by sheer force of will. Only his hatred and the power of the dark side keep him alive.

Sion is exceedingly difficult to kill-his mastery over his own battered body has lent him supernatural vitality, and his enduring agony has given him a threshold for pain and bodily harm far beyond that of a normal human. Or a Jedi.

Sion leads a sect of Sith assassins sent to wipe out the Jedi Order; his path and the player's will inevitably cross. Like most of the Sith, he is cold, calculating and brutal, delighting in the pain and suffering he inflicts.

Atton Rand

Disaster follows Atton Rand wherever he goes. While his primary talent is cheating death just long enough to stumble into the next crisis, Rand is also a skilled pilot, mechanic, gambler and liar. He thinks of self-preservation before all else; barring that, his most pressing concern is finding the next cantina with a Pazaak game. Initially imprisoned on Peragus, he is one of the first companions the player encounters.

Rand is a solid fighter. He possesses a wide range of armor and weapon proficiencies and non-combat skills, while his preservation instinct actually makes him stronger the more dire the situation becomes. So long as another party member is standing, Rand cannot be knocked down, and he will stave off unconsciousness and keep fighting if he has party support. This survival instinct also makes Rand very difficult to stun, paralyze or poison.

Kreia

The elderly mentor Kreia forms a powerful telepathic bond with the player, determined to help him rediscover the ways of the Force. She is, in fact, quite willing to sacrifice herself if it means the player will survive and reconnect with his teachings. Throughout the game, Kreia will teach the player new ways to listen to the Force, permitting him to gain new powers and abilities. When she is an active party member, Kreia gives everyone an earned experience bonus. Even better, the unique bond she shares with the player allows him to Force Chain attacks and defense. Any Force Power cast on Kreia or the player will be automatically applied to the other party members as well.

T3-M4

His chassis dented and scored by blaster fire, T3 looks as if he's narrowly missed a proton core explosion or two. This battered astromech droid is the first character to appear in The Sith Lords. His opening mission is to repair the Ebon Hawk and pilot it to safety before it's crushed into space dust in the wilds of the Peragus asteroid field. Once docked at the Peragus mining facility, however, a much greater threat confronts the crew.

The talkative T3 communicates only with clicks and beeps, but he's got a grand story to tell and plays a pivotal role in the conflicts to come. He is an expert in security, demolitions, computers and mechanical repair, acting as a portable workbench for the player. The player uses him to break down equipment into its component parts, clearing inventory and assembling more powerful weapons and items.

Bao-Dur and Remote

When the Mandalorian Wars began, the Sith forces struck the Outer Rim Iridonian colonies with a vengeance. As a result, many Iridonians were the first to join the Republic's war effort. One of them was a gifted young mechanic named Bao Dur, eager to lend his technical expertise to the cause. During his years of wartime service, he was instrumental in producing new weapons, shields and other technology for use in battle against the Mandalorians. When the wars ended, Bao Dur drifted, scarred by the countless atrocities he had witnessed. He found purpose again assisting the Outer Rim rebuilding effort.

A skilled mechanic and architect, Bao Dur is able to build or repair almost anything, even a mechanical replacement for his own arm, lost near the end of the Wars. This mechanized appendage is incredibly strong, making him a formidable opponent in a fight. It also has the power to destroy force fields and shields, rendering enemies vulnerable to conventional attacks.

Never found far from Bao-Dur, is his small remote often aids him in repair work and, in a pinch, battle. Resembling a small child in it's mannerisms, Bao-Dur tends to the droid as if it has a higher purpose. What that purpose could be can only be determined in time.

Disciple

The disappearance of the Jedi drove many explorers to search for them and attempt to discover their fate. One such seeker is a lone Disciple working for the Republic. He has traversed the galaxy in search of Jedi and any trace of their teachings, much of which were lost when Saul Karath bombed Dantooine and turned the planet's skies to ash.

Why the Disciple seeks the Jedi so fervently, or what he hopes to learn from their ancient teachings is not known. While he shares the distrust much of the galaxy feels for the Order in the wake of the Jedi Civil War, he is nevertheless drawn to them, and is acutely aware that their skill is needed if the Republic is to be salvaged from destruction.

The Disciple is a skilled healer. In addition to making medpacs and other healing items, he functions as a portable medical workbench, capable of breaking down items into their chemical components so that more valuable items may be made.

Mandalore

Since time immemorial, the Mandalorian clans were built on strict codes of honor and tradition. The leader of all clans was known as Mandalore. When a Mandalore fell, another would be chosen to succeed him.

Many years have passed since Darth Revan defeated the last Mandalore; none was chosen to take his place. Without a leader, the clans scattered to the far corners of the galaxy, finding work as mercenaries, raiders or worse. Now a new Mandalore has assumed rule, and rumor tells of a battle-hardened warrior who is reuniting the clans.

Visas Marr

A Dark Jedi Miraluka from the Mid-Rim world of Katarr, Visas Marr is the lone surviving member of her species. Gifted with the ability to see only through the Force, she perceives the world through Force patterns and flux, allowing her to see the true nature of her enemies, and her own true nature as well. This power is called Force Sight. When looking across The Sith Lords landscape, Marr can see through obstacles to the sentients waiting in ambush beyond.

When her homeworld was obliterated by the Sith, Marr was claimed by one of the greatest Sith Lords as his apprentice and slave. Why she was spared when her people were slain is unknown. Her enslavement has broken her will and corroded her spirit; she is deep in the thrall of the dark side.

Echani Handmaiden

The mysterious Echani Handmaidens, 5 sisters, have faithfully served the Jedi Order for years, acting as scouts, soldiers and missionaries. Vowing not to learn the Jedi way after the destruction wrought by the Jedi Civil War, they have maintained a galaxy-wide vigil, watching for re-emergent Sith or fallen Jedi. However, they too have vanished, their fate unknown.

The Echani pride themselves on physical combat. Well-versed in hand-to-hand and melee weapon techniques, they are lethal fighters, able to shrug off damage with deft blocks or by anticipating and evading their opponents' strikes. The Echani believe that a person's true nature is only revealed through combat; thus, their highly stylized, ritualistic fighting is a kind of dialogue between adversaries, testing their enemies' spirit and resolve. It is said that the greatest Echani warriors can predict the outcome of a conflict several hours, weeks and in rare cases, even years in advance simply by knowing the nature and numbers of the enemies they face.

HK-47

A self-sentient killing machine, it is obvious merely from its menacing appearance that HK-47 is far more than an ordinary combat droid. With a devastating arsenal of high-powered weaponry, a ruthless and single-minded pursuit of its termination targets, and a pre-programmed disregard for all organic life, this Hunter-Killer model is one of the most dangerous assassins in the galaxy. Rumored to have been created by Czerka Corp to eliminate the heads of rival corporations, HK-47 is quite capable of laying waste to an entire building in an effort to dispose of a single target, as it has demonstrated on more than one occasion in the past. This wanton carnage, combined with the tendency of the droid's previous owners to come to rather gruesome ends, has led most civilized planets to issue explicit bans on all HK-model assassin droids.

But on the dangerous worlds of the Outer Rim, having a merciless, flame-throwing engine of destruction at your side can be quite useful... until it decides you're the next target.

Hanharr
Brutish, filled with rage and borderline psychotic, Hanharr is often considered a bounty hunter in name only.
Originally from the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk, Hanharr became enraged when the Czerka Corporation arrived and began taking slaves. Hanharr slaughtered his entire village, in his own words, to 'save' them. Hanharr was eventually taken into slavery, but later managed to escape and go to other human-inhabited worlds to enslave them as revenge. It is said his latest travels have landed him on the planet Nar Shaddaa.
Rumor has it that a bitter 'relationship' lies between Hanharr and Mira. Scarcely known, and revealed only in bits and pieces, a common term always seems to stem up... "lifedebt". Mystery in it's origin, or perhaps unwillingless to discuss the topic, Hanharr often seems torn between the desire to kill Mira, or stalk her from the shadows.
Hanharr has the unique, and often deadly, ability to invoke a "Wookie Battle Rage", making him virtually invulnerable and a force to be reckoned with. Those who have 'survived' such an attack often only live long enough to tell of it's horrendous effects.

G0-T0
Little is known about G0-T0, as 'his' origin seems to be as mysterious as his whereabouts. This sentry model droid is known to be the liason between Goto and his dealings with, oftentimes, questionably legal matters (or persons). Said to have a deep interest in the Republic and it's condition, it would come to no surprise that Goto's and the Exile's path will cross. How G0-T0's role falls into that perspective is yet to be determined.
G0-T0 is a floating stealth-oriented expert droid whose primary function is to infiltrate, search, and destroy. G0-T0's personal cloaking shield allows him to easily enter into stealth mode without a stealth field generator, and his built-in targeting module allows for immediate access to Improved Power Blast and Improved Rapid Shot capabilities.

Section V: Planets

Peragus II

When travelers speak of Peragus, they're usually referring to the Peragus Mining Colony, a labyrinthine industrial facility hollowed out of an asteroid archipelago orbiting Peragus II. Decades ago, a mining accident detonated a portion of the planet's surface and ejected it into space. A geyser of molten matter from deep within the planet's interior followed, hardening in the freezing vacuum of space and chaining the explosion debris together like a bracelet, forming the archipelago. The asteroids' geosynchronous orbit makes the scarred planetary remains appear to hover in suspended animation over the gaping wound in Peragus II's surface. It's a unique phenomenon in the charted galaxy.

Now considered part of Republic space, the gas mining operations on Peragus II were originally established by a group of merchants and tradesmen who supplied the battle lines of the Republic during the Sith War against Exar Kun. After the surface facility was destroyed, it was cautiously rebuilt in the asteroids, and strict safety protocols remain in effect. Blasters and explosives are prohibited. Anything that might trigger an explosion is banned without exception. Pergaus is one of the only suppliers of shipping-grade fuel to the outer regions of Republic space. The smallest explosion could initiate a chain reaction that would destroy the entire facility, with grave consequences to the Republic.

Telos

Telos suffered greatly at the hands of the Sith during the Jedi Civil War, the target of heavy bombardment by the Sith fleet. In the past few years, the Republic has started a planetary recovery effort, which it hopes will one day return the dead planet to its former beauty.

Orbiting Telos is the enormous Citadel Station, where the Ithorians spearheading the planet's recovery carefully monitor and manipulate the ecology of the planet's surface. Workers and refugees are housed in sparse apartments. Most work the docking bays or comprise the station's live-in security force. Leisure time is spent at one of the Citadel's many cantinas. For the few workers who help the restoration effort directly, shuttles transport them to the planet below.

A complex shield network divides the surface of the planet into restoration zones, where flora and fauna from across the galaxy-including dangerous wild beasts like the cannok from the jungle moon of Dxun-are introduced under controlled conditions. Beyond these lush, protected areas, vast swathes of barren wasteland cover much of the planet's surface, a testament to the destruction the once beautiful Telos has endured.

Dxun and Onderon

Dxun is the largest moon in the Onderon system, its impenetrable jungles choked with dense foliage and constantly assaulted by storms. The beasts that roam the planet's surface are some of the most vicious predators in the galaxy; many explorers have vanished not long after setting foot on Dxun soil. Craters and wreckage from the Mandalorian Wars lie hidden under the forest canopy, as well as the ravaged corpses of thousands of Republic soldiers who perished during their final assault on the planet.

Dxun and Onderon are almost sister planets. They even share a bit of the same atmosphere. A brief shuttle hop is all it takes to travel from one planet to the other. There have been rumors of Sith activity in the area recently, and it appears to be centralized near some ancient structures deep within the jungle. This area is believed to be extremely dangerous.

Dantooine

The destruction of the Jedi Enclave by Darth Malak's fleet during the Jedi Civil War left deep scars on the land of Dantooine-and in the hearts of its peaceful settlers. Many who once celebrated the Jedi now blame them for the sorrows that have befallen them since the disappearance of the Order. The Enclave was the only thing that kept Dantooine in the Republic's eye; without it, virtually all Republic assistance has been cut off.

The only trace of civilization remaining is the Khoonda Plains, a small settlement built atop one of the old estates near the ruins of the Enclave. Facing economic collapse, administrator Terena Adare found an unlikely method of supporting the colony-salvage. Opportunists have flocked to Dantooine in the hopes of finding fortune in the rubble, and their greed has brought them into conflict with the settlers. Even worse, a mercenary faction recently arrived on the planet for reasons unknown; the situation is in danger of erupting into violence. The paltry Dantooine militia can barely protect the settlements against marauding beasts, much less a well-orchestrated mercenary assault.

Korriban

Korriban is the ancient homeworld of the Sith, for centuries a haunting ground for the fallen Sith Lords. Rediscovered by Revan and Malak, it became the nexus for the new Sith Empire. In the power vacuum that followed Malak's defeat, the Sith who remained on Korriban turned on each other. When the Republic mustered a force to investigate the planet, they found it transformed into a mausoleum, littered with Sith corpses.

During their short occupancy of Korriban, the resident Sith plundered the planet's tombs and overturned its soil in search of powerful relics left behind from the Sith Empire's Golden Age. A few of Korriban's secrets remain. The planet's power is so malignant, however, that anyone attempting to unlock them risks succumbing to the dark side.

Nar Shaddaa

A dark mirror of the world of Coruscant, the smuggler's moon of Nar Shaddaa is home to billions of aliens, smugglers, bounty hunters, and refugees left homeless by the Mandalorian Wars and the Jedi Civil War. An important way station in interstellar trade, ancient refueling spires and loading docks still reach out from the native soil into orbit, and in between, vast vertical cities have filled the spaces. The lower evels fell into disrepair and decay, and the lowliest of dregs have been forced into the decrepit undercity.

Any human setting foot on the surface of Nar Shaddaa best have a trade or means to pay their way on the smuggler's moon, or they will find themselves as the mercy of the crime lord Goto and the intergalactic crime syndicate known as the Exchange. As visitors to the planet will quickly discover, the Exchange has regulated many refugees to the planet's Refugee Sector and are slowly selling them off as slaves to the Hutt spice planets... or to other members of the Exchange for darker purposes.

The moon is firmly affixed in the galaxy's criminal underbelly, and no amount of reform will ever bring it into the light again. Ship-jackers, slavers, spice dealers, pirates, hunters and other unsavory types congregate in the vile cities. For a price, anything can be bought and sold on Nar Shaddaa, and many young smugglers and fringe-types get their start on the Smugglers' Moon.

Although the moon of Nar Shaddaa is crawling with bounty hunters, many of them have fallen into an uneasy truce lately, and few know why. Many also seem to have left the planet in search of bounties across the galaxy, but their destinations... and their quarry... are unknown.

Section VI: FAQ

I heard something about an HK Factory, but I can’t find it. Where is it?
Unfortunately, this game is very incomplete. The HK factory never made it into the final game.

How do I get the Black Lightsaber!?!
Haha. That’s an old forum joke not intended to be taken seriously. Doesn’t exist. Never has. The only place you’ll get a black lightsaber is by downloading skins for
Jedi Academy on the PC.

Does that mean the silver lightsaber is fake too? You mean, mean people!
Actually, the silver lightsaber is real. Its just a pain to get. To get it, on the planet Nar Shaddaa, a merchant named Geeda needs help with a rival merchant. And if you side with Geeda, she will ask you to help expand her trade routes to two other planets - Dantooine and Onderon. After settling the main quest at Dantooine(meeting with Vrook), go back and talk to Geeda about expanding her trade routes, and tell her about Dantooine. After this, you can simply buy the silver crystal from her.

How many
Crystals are there?
In short, a lot. There are many colour crystals, and many upgrade crystals. It’ll take a while to find them all.

What crystals do you recommend?
I recommend looking at the crystal’s info, and choosing yourself based on that. I really can’t help you there as it all depends on your style.

Is the “Enter your name here”
Crystal good? Right now it seems like crap…
Yes! It is one of the best crystals in the entire game. It may seem like crap now, but that may be because you are a low level. That crystal’s ability changes depending on your level and alignment, making it very powerful once you get higher up there.

My party keeps running up close to the enemy, but I want them to stay back with me where it’s safe! Why won’t they listen to me?
Your party will do what you tell them too. Change their stance to Ranged, and they’ll stay back.

How do I get the Disciple?
Play as a female character, you give up getting the Handmaiden however.

Is there a KOTOR
III?
As of yet, there is no info, only speculation.

Will Vrook ever be happy?
No.
