I decided to use the celetape and drive off the cliff method for a bit to get the mileage up a wee bit, was just wondering how long it would take to get 500 miles using this method?

It did work, I came back from college at 5, found the correct part on one of the courses (found on youtube) and then went to work and left it running, did this a couple of times and achievement unlocked

Not a bad idea for the 1000 miles.

Does anyone know if this has to be done in career mode (like the achievement says), or is it just based on the total distance driven in the statistics section ... As I've finished the career, I'd prefer to play online or just make up my own races etc rather than have to go through races in the career.

...Though there is always the trick mentioned above while I'm at work.

Wow... it's not even that hard to get normally. Just play the game and you'd get it eventually...

Yeah, can understand that it would occur eventually, it's just that since I finished the career on Amateur at just over 500 miles, part of me really could not be bothered going through and just driving in the career for the sake of it.

Since then I still haven't got this achievement, but have no got all the liveries and pretty much finished it all on Pro-Am (and about half on Pro).  I can't be that far off now, but am getting kind of bored with it.

One day maybe...
