Sonic Unleashed > Sonic and The Black Knight
Just wanted to let yall know that Sonic Unleashed is "a lot" better than Sonic and The Black Knight. So if yall didn't like Sonic Unleashed don't go out a buy Sonic and The Black Knight...I suggest yall rent it first.

So what's Sonic and the Black Knight like then? I gotta know since it was SUPPOSED to use a game engine similar to Sonic Unleashed. However I figured "Well the Wii version of SU stunk horribly so that's not riding on a lot of confidence there.".

Am I right to assume that?

Re: Sonic Unleashed > Sonic and The Black Knight
It an ok game to past the time with, but not worth $50. My brother got it Tuesday and we finished the main story yesterday, their are a couple of side quests that you can do, didn't really care for them tho. The graphics are not too great at all to me it looks like they took two steps back with them. The game is like the sonic version of King Arther. The homing attack is in the game but it's pretty much useless, most of the game you just running using the nunchuck and swinging the wii remote to attack with the sword. Basically your just holding up on the nunchuck and swing the remote. You can play as Sonic, Blaze, Shadow,  Knuckles. I can't tell you what Mutiplayer is like because I didn't play it.

If you looking for something to past time rent it, but if you really want to own the game I suggest you wait till it drops in price.

I just got done play it just a few minutes ago. I think it would of been better if it was on another system, because sometimes when you swing the remote the game is a little unresponsive.

I've been hearing the opposite about SU on Wii.
You don't have any of those irritating city hubs, and you get a mildly annoying gesture combat system.  A good trade, I think.  I'm gonna post a thread and see what others think.

Don't you see their bodies burning, desolate and full of yearning, dying of anticipation, choking from intoxication?

So you don't mind having to have the horribly inhibiting Werehog gameplay where you have to waggle for everything *even climbing*, the 30/70 ratio of Day/Night stages, and speaking of the Day Stages, good lord...they're boring.

Watch any clip of them on Youtube and you'll see a heavy difference. Good God.

I personally liked it, and I think the graphics are pretty good for the short amount of time they took to make it. In all the game is, in my opinion worth the 50 bucks, mainly cuz i only paid 40 and my dad paid the rest but hey x) Anywho, you seem like an honest person with games

(Tho i disagree with it stinking on Wii, SU. Its NOTHING compared to 360, which is a million times better, but the wii version is more for the little ones, just like black knight. :) )

but yes, rent it. I'm that type of person who has to have every game of something on console, hence why i own every sonic game (surprising im not fat :o) and it is a good game, but much like secret rings, not worth 50, maybe 30 tho :D

I do my best to be honest, so I will respond to your comment the best way I can.

Wii Version is for the kiddies, so there's no way that its lazily programmed stages are better. No way around it as those owning a Wii, or buying games from the Wii generally do not ask for much as a standard to their games because of the audience. This is why I rage wondering how it got better reviews when a much more balanced Sonic title for the 360 is getting bad ones. It just..doesn't make ANY sense. Especially when IGN blasted it and then went around, did a comparison of all the versions, and came out saying the 360 is the best; completely contradicting themselves in turn of doing so.

Secret Rings to me was ok...but I enjoy the freedom SU offers moreso for the "behind Sonic's back" gameplay as I was actually controlling him compared to just 'driving' him in Sonic and the Secret Rings.

I mean I've played nearly every Sonic game that's existed, sans the Game Boy Advance/Nintendo DS games for I do not own either.

Going back to playing the old games such as Sonic and Knuckles, there was a lot I forgot; like how much slowing down was actually occuring to make sure I don't run smack into an enemy or into a pit of spikes. the old games were just platforming with some speed as a bonus and I think a lot of people forget that. The speed and balanced, semi-easy-to-hard platforming aspects SU offers is the marriage of gameplay aspects I've longed for in a Sonic game for ages and I'm glad it's doing so well in sales at least. I mean it HAS to if it's got DLC now and maybe some more coming to it. (?)

I just really, REALLY hope that Sonic Team keeps up the standard. Now that Sonic Unleashed has arrived, I simply will not accept anything below in standard *terms of the daytime stages* for what SU brought me. SU is too much fun for me to go and take one step backward with the evolving franchise of Sonic himself.

Wouldn't it be something if Sally Acorn showed up one day in a game? Man..

Hello again Lightkun, don't know if u remember me but I'm here to give another review and I hope you agree with my Unleashed review (for those of you who haven't read my review, search Re: A honest review from a veteran sonic fan and look for my 1st post)

I do my reviews on a 0-10 scale and  average up for the overall. The areas I do my reviews in are Gameplay, Graphics,Writing, Sound, and Programming.

Gameplay- 6/ I have no clue where people are getting this " lag when you swing the remote" thing but I've never noticed anything and even if I did, it hasnt messed me up so far (just wanted to clear that first.) The go for the goal missions are solid, but sadly, those were the only ones that I liked except for a few rampage missions. The combat is good, it makes you focus on timing and avoiding like real sword fighting. The bad part is that you constantly find yourself in these combat sequences, it gets boring when you have to stop running really fast every 30 seconds to take out 1 hit enemies the good part is that you can jump over most of these enemies. I really love the soul surge, in a sonic game it's really cool to go super fast then slow down into slow-mo and see him taking down enemies individualy then going fast again. Playing as the other characters is pointless for the most part, only useful for a handful of missions. The collectables are divided into story mode stuff (if you played the game, you should know why I'm not going into greater detail), and the bounus material which is awsome. The last thing I'm going to go on about is the boss battles, they are drop-dead amazing, the're well thaught out and cool, when you fight the knights, it's all about sword play and looking for an opening. When you fight the other bosses (King Arthur, the dragon, and the final boss which is totaly epic). KA and the final boss are a new kind of boss, it combines timing and dodging attacks in a way I haven't seen before in any way I've never seen before. (R u bored yet)

Graphics- 10/ for Wii graphics this game deserves a 10. When I first heard about this game I thought that if it was on the Wii the grapthics would suck, if you play it, that steriotype that Wii graphics suck is destroyed by this game. Each area is made beautifully and Unleashed has better graphics but for Wii it's drop dead georgeous.

Writing- 9/ OMFG the story is amazing the only, I repeat Only problem is that it's too short. Would have been beter if they added more knights and to make the second part longer. Glad they didn't use super sonic again, mixes things up. The ending is great, but I can't tell much more than the fact that it is clever

Sound- 10/ The music is getting better with each passing game. The music is like midevil times violin combined with now classic sonic rock. The other songs are great remixes of past sonic games. Crush 40 did a great job with the main theme, I like Endless Possibilities a lot better, but I still can't get enough of Knight of the Wind ( it's really catchy) The voices they have for the characters are really really good, if you never heard the newest voice for sonic and you imagined what he sounded like, Jason Griffith's Sonic voice would be the first thing you would think of.

Programming-10/ Wii quality low to no glitches and no lagging.

Overall- I like the day time stages in Unleashed a whole lot better and this game is fun in go for the goal and defeat the boss missions but other than that, those are the only gameplay aspects that I liked. I believe that it is worth the 50$ but if you didn't like Unleashed, you should probably rent it first. The other aspects besides gameplay for the most part is really high qualety for Wii. Sonic and the Black Knight gets an averaged score of 9 out of 10.

You haven't caught all my love for Unleashed being expressed at every corner?

I may think about Black Knight, but until I see a reason to own the Wii, won't happen for awhile..

@Lightkun-

Sonic and the Secret Rings is one of the best 3D Sonic games.  IDK about SatBK (what a dumb sounding abbreviation).

I like my Wii and 360 a lot each (but still think the 360 is head and shoulders above the Wii).  I really want to get a PS3 to own all three.

IMHO, I didn't think that much of Sonic and the Secret Rings. It was okay but by doing the same stages over and over and over was just..ugh.

If I see anyone say that Unleashed was exactly the same thing, I'm going to headbutt a disfigured puppy.

The graphics were great (SatSR), and this is good considering i don't need the tag, "For a Wii Game..."

I really enjoyed the controls and the stages overall were well designed.  Each one took a decent amount of time to finish, but those missions were infuriating sometimes.  If they just spent the time to develop twice as many stages, even if the game ended up being half the length, I'd love it...

Unfortunately, Sega still hasn't caught on to that and likes to extend their games when they don't need to.  The new one for Wii supposedly clocks in at 4 hours, but the sheer amount of enemies makes it sound stupid.

You still can't deny that it looked and sounded good and I also have to admit that I hate the level repititions in the story book games, but I liked the bosses. So I'm kinda in the middle of this whole argument.
