Yes, once they realized how EA's Fifa is kicking their butt and out of all devs. EA is actually making a good game, they'll come back with a winner.

you think so? will they even care? Konami is capable of making good games but they just seem disinterested when it comes to PES. Next year will be interesting I think with Pro Evo because it will either be the same crap again or a very impressive new game. Either way I wont buy it until I play the demo first.

Re: Will PES ever be good again?
Its funny really.

PES2009 is a good game, not great but good. I don't understand how the majority of people (including the game reviewers) rated PES6 so highly and are now bashing PES2009.

Start up PES6 and you will notice how unplayable it is, how bad the presentation is. PES2009 is a million times better in almost everything (online still an issue). For the rest though, it is a serious improvement. The scores of the two games should be switched around. Its a disgrace people are claiming 'its the same rubbish ever year' when there are so many other games out there that do exactly that but are still rated very highly.

I think there ar a couple of things with that Alexrietveld.

1 - Pes 6 is 3 years old. At the time the Next gen was pretty new hardware and compared to what was out at the time it was light years ahead of its rivals eg Fifa RTWC

2 - In the past 2 years Fifa has improved MASSIVELY. It has not only closed the gap on PES but surpassed it. In fact it has flown by as if powered by concorde while Pes stood still.

Reviewers are right to criticise PES now for the same reasons they praised it 3 years ago becuase quite simply PES 09 is effectively a 3 year old game compared to Fifa 09.

I hope and prey that Konami will finally see the errors they have made this time and deliver the true Next Gen Pes game we have all been waiting for. What they need is to take the attitude they had when the PS2 was launched. At that time they radically improved the series for the new machine, so much so they tweaked the name of the series from International Super Star Soccer to Pro Evolution soccer and the series went from strength to strength for the next 5 years.

Re: Will PES ever be good again?
I have owned every EA Fifa game since 1998. In that 11 year time I have been happy with exactly 4 of their games...RTWC98, FIFA 99,  & FIFA 2005 for the PC. World Cup 2006 was their only good game on the XBOX360 in my opinion.

I started with PES on the Xbox with version 2007 thru 2009. Yes online is a disaster but the overall game is excellent. Having played football at all levels I can say that Konami has given us a game that is as close to the real thing as possible. No, the graphics aren't as spellbinding as FIFA and you have to change a few logos and names...alright more than a few. Most importantly, I never feel like I see the same game twice. The game is deep in detailed play.

To me FIFA has always been a polished turd. It looks real good but it doesn't deliver. You score the same 5 ways every game. The nets move like chain link fences. Their Online community sucks. Rampant cheating, kicking people off teams for no reason and general boredom. The game forces you into a rut.
The player movement in FIFA makes me feel like they are on ice skates. It is very frustrating and unatural to me.
I don't have that problem with PES, the players respond more naturally.
Fifa players look like they're made out of wax and hardly ever look like the players they represent.
PES players, while less artistic, look like the real players. I recognize real players in games on TV from playing PES and I've never seen them in real life before!

Konami has improved the Xbox360 version every year with the exception of the online play. If they ever get that part right I don't think anyone will complain about the game or even remember that FIFA even exists.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that just because everyone is down on Konami for not putting out the best product we know they are capable of making, we shouldn't be pumping up a FIFA product that isn't really worthy of the praise it is receiving.

Hopefully Konami will listen and get it right. If not we will take our money somewhere else.

Re: Will PES ever be good again?
I agree mainly. The latest Pro Evo online system on the Legends mode is quality. It is completely different and adds a whole arcade-like feel to online play. It's especially good when you find 3 other players who have realised what the point of that game mode is (to get a high-score by passing quickly and scoring great goals, i.e. not picking the ball up in your own half and scoring one-man-wonder goals). It can be great fun though.

I hate FIFA now with a passion and I just can't get on with it. I played through the two World Cup games (RTWC and WC06). Awful stuff. The goals are all the same, and the only decent thing about it was the graphics and they really do just turn it into a polished t*rd. I can't support anyone who says it's any good. Pro may not be perfect, but it's the best on the market and they ARE improving it every year.

PES good again? It's not a bad game. The problem is that PES 2009 is behind FIFA 09 in almost every category. Tho I looked at a little thing for PES 2010 two days ago and it looks like Konami are really serious about this one unlike the last few. Interesting year coming up considering FIFA 09 still has improvements to make...

Have you played the most recent version of Fifa?

I was like you - hated it, couldn't get on with it at all and got frustrated with the same goals everytime, however I have to say Fifa 09 is the best football game I have EVER played. In terms of the feel of the play as well as the graphics, game modes, online etc - It really is THAT good.
