What is your reason to play Lost Planet.
My friends keep making fun of me because I prefer Lost Planet to Halo 3 or a lot of other games. This is primarily because of the violence and the short and eaisier to understand list of weapons.

But what is your reason for playing lost planet online instead of other more popular shooters.

Re: What is your reason to play Lost Planet.
I played a couple of games with you earlier today.

The reason I play this is because I recently got bored one day (the wait for RE5 is killing me!) and so I looked over my games library and decided to check out the online play. Anyway, I've been hooked since, no pun intended.

I've long since tired of the lameness of Halo's multiplayer and CoD isn't much better anymore. Seems these days all you have to play with are trashtalking Halo-type idiots, elitists, and/or people that teabag you constantly. Lost Planet kind of strays from that most of the time.

However, I will say one negative thing about the game, it is VERY hard to try and get into it at first, because you are constantly dying as a result of having virtually no multiplayer experience. Once you get to around lvl 20 online though, and you start picking up the basics of the online mode, it's really, really fun.

It's not perfect, not by any freakin' means, but it's a lot more enjoyable at the moment than Halo 3 or CoD4, in my honest opinion.

That said, I don't see myself playing it past a certain point though (I doubt I'll ever get Yuri unlocked, the other characters I might), because I'm not the type of person that will sit and play one game till I'm blue in the face in order to become godly at it, regardless of how fun it may be. I will move on to something else when I feel it's time.

Your not alone. I also like lost planet better than halo. Never been a big halo. This game is a blast online.

I think that the genral concensus is that  Lost Planet is a love or hate game and the people who don't like it can't give a decent reason. Yet the people (like us Cool [H]) who like it can give specific reasons. And I think we all agree that when ever 2 comes out it is going to become hugeGift [G]. Like Me Embarrassed [:$] Pizza [pi]

Re: What is your reason to play Lost Planet.
I recently started replaying Lost Planet in order to get the Master Pioneer achievement and I loved the game before hand but now after playing through it again three times I @@@@@@ love it, there is one major thing that for me sets Lost Planet apart from all other next gen titles and that's the bosses. Lost Planet is the only next gen title I can think of that has a boss/ bosses on every level and almost all of these bosses are challenging to beat on extreme mode. This is also the reason I think it's hated by so many. These days the majority of people don't want to play games where they have to think in anyway or need insane skills to get through the campaign.

Im coming to the end of my Lost planet journey though as after ive got all the target markers on mission 10s difficulties, I probably won't play through it again as five campaign run throughs is generally enough for me.

My reason is because of the sequel and as it was my friends first game.
Downside for me is the save system, terrible. Those beacons should be the save points.... or am i missing something?

They are not beacons they are Data Posts they upload enemy info into your PDA or GPS They aren't saves. They are a unique way that Capcom made the GPS original for this game. Not some God like thing that magicly knows where all your enemys and allys are.

Ok I get ya, but after moving through a long level and having to do it all again, frustrates a little, like the first one :)

It can get a tad frustrating I admit but at least the Data posts make more sence than other gpses in other games.

I agree the save system is terrible. You just gotta keep it together to get to the boss at the end of each level. I'm playing mostly because LP2 looks real interesting, and I wanted to be up on the backstory so far. That, and gamefly makes it easy for me to play through alot of these older games that have sequels coming out without spending a lot of $$$. I will say this though, I don't know how 'original' it is to have a boss at the end of every level. IMO, it's very old-school arcady style. Reminiscent of old Nintendo games.

The reason that the bosses are original is not because it's never been done before, it's because it's almost never been done recently. making this game original for recent years. It represents a gaming tradition long since forgotten. And a very good one at that.

Re: What is your reason to play Lost Planet.
I am NOT playing Lost Planet because:

1. The lag I would get online with a Japanesse or Korean host... Yes I do get lag do not give me that junk
2. The camera angle is really weird and sometimes I cannot even see where I am going as the camera may get caught on "something".
3. I'm tired of being killed by 1000+ rockets and red grenades that send you flying around in every direction. I swear its like Gear's smoke grenades which have been fixed.
4. Is it my luck or do I always get the kids who use Voice Mask #3 or whichever one is the high pitch one, and then the kid screams into the mic thus trying to give me eternal deafness. Huh? [:^)]

So yes you are right I cannot give you 1 reason I disliked the game, I can give you 4. Take it or leave it. Now neccesarily I am not saying this game is bad. Not at all, in fact this game was very well done so before you write me off as a Gears junkie just trolling a thread I am NOT doing that. Just giving my honest opnion about a game, yet this thread has given me an incentive to try this game one more time so I shall. TODAY! as soon as I find it lol Cool [H]

I prefer Lost Planet to Halo 3 too. I haven't tried LPs multiplayer yet, but I did play the rest of the game because I found the icy wasteland and giant bugs appealing. It also made me take some interest with Mechs. Never liked those much aside from Z.O.E.

Lost Planet still stands as one of my most favorite games ever. I also love Halo 3.

I actually have no idea why I still play it..I find it extremely enjoyable for some odd reason.

I played the demo for LP2, which is pretty good so i picked this up. Its a great game. I enjoy the single and multiplayer. I just cant believe the hero is called Wayne! (no offence to any Waynes reading Smile [:)] )
I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

My buddy that I play with lives in Japan, and I never lag in his rooms.  If you are experiencing lag it may not be the game's fault.

The lag, 9 times out of 10, is usually down to multiple users on your network, other laptops in the house etc
If it continues contact your provider.

Dont understand what Deku Kid was saying but LP2 looks great and yes I did it for the same reasons, back story, going to play the game on normal as hard is just impossibly stupid for some reason.
