Closed: Round 1 of making your maps "Official"
Thanks to everyone who contacted me and submitted maps for consideration for release in our first player created map pack.  We have closed the submission process for this round and will release the maps "soon" Wink [;)].

If your map was chosen I will contact you shortly to get your information for the new section we're creating on the http://www.ageofbooty.com website.

This was a great success and we'll do it again so keep those map making skills sharp!

Ok, I think we can all agree that we need more maps put into matchmaking.  Can you guys at certain affinity put something together where we can submit maps once a month and have them put into matchmaking?

Doesn't seem like the process would be too difficult

They have been working on Map Pack 2 which was released in June. Also yesterday they just announced a Map Pack 3 that will be arriving in August. I can only assume CA is working on those as well.

Hmmm... 2 months have gone by since this post from Yeroen - that is beginning to stretch the meaning of "soon".

Is this ever going to happen? Is there some way the community can take the burden of the work so that the effort required by CA is absolute minimum?

We can certainly create the maps, can we also receive and review the maps? How would this work?

As I have proposed before, I think we should introduce a handful of user created maps into the mix every month (say 2-6 new maps) and then let the community vote on which ones to keep and which to drop.

I must say, even though I am an AoB addict, the current maps are getting a bit old now. The first birthday of AoB is coming up - it would be great if we could re-invigorate the game with some new maps to celebrate this milestone...

Yeroen, or anyone from CA, are you stil there????

Yes, just got back. Sorry for disappearing. This whole running a game company business is a lot of hard work!

I've pointed our new guy to this forum and you should be hearing from him soon.

Greetings Sea Dogs.  I'll make sure that all of your ships are pointed in the right direction.

I'm new to this ship, so I need to find out what secrets lay in its mysterious hull.  Rest assured though, you'll be gettin' timely answers on my watch.  Send me a personal message (click my gamertag and choose "send this user a message") if ya be needin' something.

'Til then... TIME TO PLUNDER!

Ahoy me Bucko's!

The chest that Nemesis had containing the map submissions fell out of his ship while he was plundering and sunk to the bottom of the drink.

So lets start a new chest!  If you would like to have Certain Affinity consider adding a map that you created to the ranked playlist  send me a personal message (click my gamertag and choose "send this user a message") - we'll get in contact and work out the details.

Until then... TIME TO PLUNDER!

Ahoy Pingdingy, you landlubber!

Welcome aboard the good ship Booty! This motley crew of hard-core plunderers are mighty pleased to have you on board and steering the ship in search of the new map treasure...

What's your plan Cap'n?

If I may be so bold, here is a little plan I cooked up earlier for your consideration:

1. You review the maps submitted by the community - there should be a good backlog now after a year!

2. Select the most promising handful (2-6) and put them in rotation for whatever game type they suit (i.e. 2s, 3s, 4s and/or BR).

3. Let the community play them for a month

4. Community votes (on this forum or using a poll site) on which maps to keep and which to let sink to the bottom.

5. Repeat each month...

Anyway, you're the cap'n, but just wanted to throw in my 2 pieces of silver. Big Smile [:D]

Landlubber!!?  I'll make ya walk the plank Guernsy Boy!  Smile [:)]

Jokes aside, thank ya for the hearty welcome to this veritable armada of fine folks.  Its good to be here!

I am figuring the best way to administer the Map Contest, but there are some technical hurdles that need to be met first.  Rest assured though, I'll figure it out right quick and then the contest will begin ya Picaroons!

In the meantime, Nemesis' trunk o' maps sunk to the bottom of the drink, so I'll be needin' new submissions from ya.  You can send an image of them directly to me trunk at aob@certainaffinity.com.  A digital camera pic of the screen is just fine, but mind the flash if ya please!  Be sure to name your submission, e.g. Sunset, write a sentence or two about it (MAX!  Me eyes can't read a novel), and be sure to include your gamertag.

TIME TO PLUNDER!

Sea Dogs!

If you don't like to use them new-fangled digital cameras to send your maps to aob@certainaffinity.com, I'll be online to collect maps from you every weekday.  Just check for Pingdingy in the the player matches and pick one of the maps you created to play on.

Until then... TIME TO PLUNDER!

Why don't you guys release a press release announcing some kind of user map creation contest?  Just seems like it would stir up some buzz about the game again.

I'll get started working on some maps myself sometime this week.

Not a bad idea'r SAJ 2.  Lets see how many user created maps we get in October from this fine community and go from there.

I'll be online this afternoon (central time) to collect any maps from any and all Bucaneers on the high seas.  Send me, Pingdingy, a friend request to make sure that you know when I get online.

If we don't hook up online, you can always email me a pic (digital camera shots of the screen are fine, just mind the flash please) at aob@certainaffinity.com.

Until then... TIME TO PLUNDER!!!

Ahoy cap'n,

Haven't seen you at sea yet, although I have been plundering away of late - probably when you are below deck asleep in your bunk...Sleep [S]

Anyway - when will we be seein' the new user maps in the game? I assume your chest is bursting now with user created goodness, and it would be great to try these out.

Forgive me impatience, cap'n...
