To all you new people out there, the airstrike or orbital strikes are not completely random.  The veteran players may know this, and so do the PC players, but for the new people, to make the best of your vampire/violator and destroy multiple targets, this is what you must do.

Your position must be perpendicular to the actual strike itself as the airstrike can or violator beacon EXPLODES.  The orange trail of arrows then appear perpendicular to the length between you and the can.  Then damage ensues.  This is one of the reasons why I stay at the same spot, because my enemies always seems to line themselves up in my vampire path, or violator path, while they are shooting me while I'm staying put.

As for vampire and violator difference, one is better agianst infantry, and the other is better against deployables.

Oh yeah, don't join the team that has the most human players.  You don't get any challenge in that because bots are dumb, only if the human team is a super 1337 clan.
