zuma clone or superior puzzler! ure views?

i think superior puzzler!!

zuma was really good but no way near as fun as there were no powerups and luxor has more to it overall.

i find it more addictive and thats what a puzzle game is all about eh?

I`m not quite sure until now, but I also think that Zuma is better in the end, or at least more challenging and rewarding for faultless playing.

I haven't tried Zuma yet.  I will though and see how it compares.

I tried the demo of this game played a few times and was immediately hooked and bought the full version.

I like that you can try a game first then decide if you want it.   I wish all the games would do that, not just demos, although there are a lot that are being released.

I don't know what it is about this game, the cool colors, weird music, or gameplay but I keep going back to it.

Is it really a "puzzle" game though?  All you do is get 3 or more balls the same color.   I mean there is some strategy involved but not a lot of thought involved.

Zuma, hands down.

Luxor 2 is fun, but way too easy. Having the marble shooter on the bottom of the screen limits the challenge and it's just not as fun, IMO. I started on Expert, am still on my first play through and am already at level 7-?. I think I'm sitting close to 6-7 million points already. I haven't had to continue yet. The game doles out points like candy and it is nearly impossible to lose a level because you ALWAYS get the right color you need. By comparison, I have yet to get the 2 million achievement in Zuma.

It's definitely a watered down version of Zuma. If someone was considering one or the other I wouldn't think twice about recommending Zuma. Luxor, not so much.

Now if someone loved Zuma and was in the market for a new "marble shooter" game, I'd recommend Magnetica on the DS 10x over Luxor.

Definitely a skip it, across the board. Zuma all the way.

Agreed. Zuma was WAY more challenging, even on the harder levels of Luxor. Quite dissappointed. First puzzler on aracde that lacked a challenge IMO.

I thought the same thing, but once you reach the section 10 levels, the game gets very hard. I had stored like 14 extra lives and did not die once after playing 2 nights straight - then I lost ALL of my lives once I started the level 10 area. Now I've gone back two nights straight and can't get past this section. They should have increased the level of difficulty gradually, much earlier in the game. In any case, I like it just as much as Zuma, particularly learning how to really maximize your power ups (you'll see what I mean waaaay later in the game).

Also, I see a lot of complaints refering to the color(s) you need always appearing when the ball are close to the drainage. That's suppose to be this way, otherwise  you'll have no shot of getting out deep trouble. Again, when you reach level 10+  you'll see why it's important that the correct colors come up.

For those saying this isnt a challenge...please go through the entire game on easy 1-1, to the last level of expert. I doubt you will make it far.

This game is about quick reactions, somewhat precision, and a bit of a "puzzler" feel.

I think the main thing about this game is getting the balls into the right places ASAP, in order for your fast combos.

Well, I started over on easy and am now around level 9 on Normal.  Still not much of a challenge. And like I said above, Expert was easy from what I played of it(to level 7).  Level 10+ did get exponentially more difficult, but still nothing that isn't managable.  I had about 25 lives and used 10 finishing Easy.  Now I'm back up to about 25 again.

I agree with everything you've said there!Big Smile [:D] (Except the Magnetica bit but only coz I haven't played that)

Zuma is engrossing, challenging and doesn't get old anywhere near as quick as this does. I think I've only completed 5 levels of Luxor 2 so far (i.e 1-1 - 5-6 or whatever) and it's already getting boring.

And I can't believe that Pharoah of the Two Lands achievement.

I also agree with the notion it goes too easy on players. When the balls are getting close to the pyramid, you're always guaranteed a chance to get out of it by getting the colours you need. Zuma offers no such assurance!

Whilst this is not rubbish by any means, it could be a lot better - by not being so longwinded for a start!

To anyone that says "Luxor 2 is a Zuma clone" well get this:

Luxor 1 was released before Zuma, so if anything, Zuma is a Luxor clone.

'nuff said.

oooh, aaah, but both are clones of Puzzloop which came out in 1998. Magnetica is the spiritual successor by the same company.

There's also this game - Butterfly Escape:

There're probably a couple of others too.

Did anyone here play the "original"? (Puzzloop, I mean)

I have to agree with most folks on this thread... Zuma is the better game. (IMHO, of course)

Luxor 2 is OK, but it isn't challenging enough. I'm only on level 9-4, so if the difficulty ramps up in levels 10+ I may change my tune later. But it seems like poor game design to have it take that long to make the game challenging. I feel like I'm doing homework finishing these levels! They aren't hard...just a time suck.

Luxor 2 has a leg up when it comes to greater variety of power-ups and beautiful graphics. But Zuma still wins when it comes down to fun, challenge, and replay-value.

One more thing: Someone should slap the Luxor developers for not making the completion achievements cumulative for difficulty!
