Alright,  so you have downloaded the new TLaD and now you can't figure out how to play.  Well here is the run down so you can get back to the gaming action: 

1) All you need to do is Load Niko's story. When finished loading press "Start" then go to "Game".
Under Game should be the options Load,  New,  Marketplace,  and Autosave. 

2) Press "New".  You then should be prompted with a message about TLaD.
You should now be able to play it.  If you would like to go back to Nikos story,  do the same thing except press "Load".

NOTE* Be sure not to Save TLaD over the original story and vise versa.

If you download TLAD, you should get the message saying that it has been downloaded and is asks you if you want to play it, it comes up when you start GTA IV

apparently not for everybody. but that is noted in #2

Just remember one thing save TLaD onto another slot so you'll beable load it from Start Menu/Game Load/ Either one "Niko Story" Or "TLaD" If your on TLAD Gaming & wanna Save Just make sure you don't save it onto Niko Story Slot.. You have like 20 slots to save something like that My Just has two slots 1 - Niko Story 2 - TLaD I havn't been playing much of GTA IV in a while now But I saw this topic & figure I could reply..

I loaded my GTA4 game & tried to start a new game, but I never got a prompt/message about TLaD. What now?

were you connected to live when you tried this? I'm not sure if that would make a difference or not.

No, I wasn't connected to Xbox Live. Do I have to be online to play TLaD?

Try and connect to live, then try and play it. Then save the game, disconnect Live. Then see if it works. If the save file is not there, then see if you can start a new one. You do not need to be online to play the game. As I said before, I'm not sure if the above will help, but it's worth a try.

yo bro all u have to do is get online and get the update then it should tell u if i want to play gta TLAD the press A all u have to do is get the update u dont have to be online to get the update go online and put in gta 4 reply if u need more help

Thanks for the info. It answered some of the questions I had about TLaD

myself i don't have internet connection so i took my xbox to my friends house to download TLaD, i tried it out at his and it worked fine. at home it started to load and said ''The dowloadable content for this auoto save is not available'' and i try loading it from the pause menu and it said the same thing.  when i went to my friends again i tryed on xbox live and it worked fine but not offline.

dose anyone know how to fix this.

I downloaded TlaD and couldnt get it to play here is what I had to do:

I went to systems on my dashboard and selected harsdrive do not rename or format here is what you do... on your controller press the buttons X,X, L bumper, R bumper, X,X and clear your cache.

Try the game if this doesn't work like it happened to me continue below.

Go back to your dashboard and to systems and delete your market place content file. Then go while still on xbox live go to yourdashboard and start playing GTA4 it should now say updates are needed to play this game and you will automatically start downloading market place content and within a few minutes you be selected to to choose to plat TLaD or GTAIV.

Hope this helps, Hopefully your not like me and live in the mountain and only have access to dial-up. But if you are you can turn your pc into a router and trick your xbox to thinking it's connected to DSL. You can then access xbox live. You won't be able to play any games but you'll be able to download content or updates.

Note: TLaD was to large of a file to downlaod unless you leave your game connected to the dial-up for over 24hrs but other game addons will take an hour or so.

Is it worth using 1600 MS points?

yea i think its worth the 1600 points. Mine played fine, but the intro video had no sound.

Other option, if you saved the original story on slot 1, leave it to be and start new TLAD game and save on slot 2.. that pretty easy to use choose slot 1 or slot 2 also any slots u want to start (slots can up to 12 saved files.)

it depends if you want the hassle or not.
There is an very noticable glitch or two within the game
I have had my console freeze up over a dozen times while playing the game Tlad not Gta4 i can play that all day and it wont lock up.
I've also had it completely wipe out a memory card and start over twice from point zero.
So you decide
Do you really want the hassle?
Is it worth it?
the game is fun what i have been able to play.
And if you do buy it make sure you save save and save some more because you never know when it'll lock up your system.
I play a mission or two and save right afterwards.Be forwarned.

So i've just finished a playthrough of GTA4, and wanted to do another of TLAD, but when starting a new game it does not give the option for TLAD, and when loading my save file from my last play through it says that it cannot access because i am not connected to XBL,  and do not have an internet connection, because i just moved into my new apartment, so connecting to XBL isn't an option. I don't see why I cannot play this offline, I've paid money for it, it's on the console that i DL'd it with, and i've played it fine before, IMO this is a mojor fopa from microsoft on this one.  "here you can have this for this, but you have to pay for it... oh and you can't use it unless you have a consistant internet connection" ....
