You do not have to be a proffessional poker player to enjoy this game. It is a great pick-up-and-go type of game, and can be enjoyable by a wide age group, although it probably isn't for very young players.

Hows the community??

There is still a booming community for this game, despite how long the game has been out. People are generally fun to play with, although a lot of people don't talk a lot. You do run into the occasional idiot, but just send them negative feedback, or file a complaint.

**A FEW TIPS**

Betting:

When betting, some surefire ways of winning the hand include, but are not limited to:

1. Luring people in: If you have a good hand, and know it beats everybody, don't go all in right away. Instead bet little bits at a time so that they question your confidence, and think you have nothing.

.. and if you are feelinmg really risky, when the river card shows, you could go all in. Depending on the outsome of the 5 cards.

Normally its not too smart to go all in unless you have some miracle hand. It is advised that you NEVER go all in with a high card. Of course.

Bluffing: While this is harder to do in online poker, bluffing (making the opponent think you have something) is a good way to win a hand if done properly.
- Look at the cards on the table, if you see something potential, bet a small amount to test your opponent.
- If your opponent raises, either he/she is bluffing themselves, or they have something great. You decide, as this is where luck kicks in.

When to fold:
1. When you know you don't have anything.
2. When you know the opponent has something better.
3. When you are in a spot to do something risky, and potentially winning, but are short on chips.
4. When you can clearly see something risky on the table (4 diamonds, for example FLUSH if your opponent has one more diamond)

A few other FAQs that I missed:

Can you have guests in this game?

No. That would be silly.

Is there camera support for this game?

No. Not at this time. Rumors are that they are adding camera support though.

Will you ever be able to bet using Microsoft points in this game?

No. That would be gambling, which is illegal in some places.

Can you adjust playing areas/tables/settings in this game?

Yes. You can do this: Go to the options menu and there is a part for changing the table's looks and floor.

What happens if your bankroll is down to zero in a game, will you be able to buy in again?

Yes you can buy in again, just so long as you want to.

What happens if my bankroll in player matches goes down to zero, can I still wager something?

Yes, you can. It will just send your bankroll into the negatives.

What happens if my competitive match bankroll goes down to zero?

You will only be allowed to play the free tournaments, until you raise your bankroll enough to go into the higher tournaments again.

Are there any cheats/exploits in this game I should be concerned with?

Yes, unfortunately, no game is perfectly glitch free. If you run into someone cheating or exploiting some sort of - game altering glitch, submit negative feedback, and/or file a complaint. I will not go over any of these because:

1. I do not know how to perform the ones that I saw.
2. and two, I do not like to spread glitches, especially for a multiplayer game like Texas Holdem.

If I downloaded my copy of this game on the free weekend, and accidentally delete it, can I get it back again without paying Microsoft points?

Yes you can get it back, you are credited with the download even though you got it for free.

It sets the game so that you fold automatically each time it is your turn to bet to save time if you are not around the Xbox.

Is there a limit to how many times you fold or will the game eventualy kick the people who do this? Thanks!

I've never seen anyone who was set to away getting kicked, I think it just constantly folds their hand until they're not set away.

How do you submit a specific cheat that can be easily replicated and needs to be patched to restore fair play?  Forum topics have mentioned providing proof for cheats, however, giving feedback via XBL  does not offer a free form field to enter a description of the cheat.

I have on several occasions played with people who abuse the "infinite away" capability in competitive tournaments and just wait until the 2nd to last person winning the table finally gives up and exits, and the cheater claims first place as a result.  It takes considerable time to wait for the BigBlind amount to depleat someone's chip stack, especially if they use this tactic after a massive win.  Even if they eventually start playing, it is unsportsmanlike to use this tactic to wait out the game until you guarantee 3rd place minimum before you start actually playing the game.

The update that added the "away" capability is what enabled this cheat to be possible.  I recommend some appropriate limit on how many hands can be auto-folded via "away" state before the system removes them from the game.  An excellent "soft limit" could be imposed as such:

Define a threshold of 30 total rounds in "away" per game->per player. (total, not necessarily in a row)

During a game, track the count of away folds per player.

if a player exceeds 30 "away" rounds in one tournament, the remaining players are prompted if they vote to boot this away player.  If all remaining players unanimously agree to boot the away player, then he gets booted and any chips he had remaining at that point are removed from the game as well. Rank in match is at the time of boot.

This is limit is "soft" because if he/she informs the players in the room, before going "away", the remaining players usually would honor that consideration not boot him.

It is frustrating, especially if it is regional multiplayer competitive tournament, and you are forced to endure a long long wait, and cannot go in "away" or the game will loop until BB = all chips.

Otherwise, this game is great much of the time.!

Here are a couple of questions for Multiplayer Competitive Tournaments that will leave you scratching your head:

1) Why do Multiplayer Competitive Tournaments crash about 10% of the time causing everyone to lose all of their money and get 8th place (even if there are only 5 people left when it crashes)?

Answer - Bandwidth Problem with Microsoft Xbox Live Arcade - No response from Microsoft Xbox Live Arcade as to when the issue will be resolved.  I will update this thread when they respond...

This type of crash is especially painful in the 50,000 tournaments!

2) How come when I won the pot after going all in, I got chips equal to the pot, plus what I had before I went all in? Example Player A goes all in and pot is now $4,020.  I have $4,000 chips and call his all in.  I win and get a total of $12,020 chips.  Unfortunately, I have seen this happen about 4 times, but never in my favor!

3) Here is one that is really suprising - I once saw four people go all in, and one of the players that folded won the pot.  How could that happen?

Anybody got an answer for 2 or 3?

- I'm not quite sure what you mean, but I'll give your question a stab:

When you see the # of chips in the pot, it doesn't include your chips that you put in (or at least not when I've played last). So lets say the pot is $4000, that doesn't include the amount you put in. Lets say you've put $1000 into the pot, then your total winnings would be $5000.

3) Here is one that is really suprising - I once saw four people go all in, and one of the players that folded won the pot.  How could that happen?

- This is probably just a glitch or an exploit that people can do. I've had it happen to me before too. It annoys me that people do this, but in this case I think it is just an exploit, or just an uncontrollable random glitch that sometimes occurs.

Anybody got an answer for 2 or 3?

Why yes I do have answers to them. lol,

Same here.  I got #3 on one scenario first, and then got #1 for a four right in a row.  I've got all #1's but no acheivement was awarded to me.  Kinda sucks, cause that short stack scenario took me several hours to complete.

The single player appears to be rigged, any advice?

The single player does appear to be rigged a lot of the time. You have to realize that there are a few tell-a-tale signs of when to bet, or when to fold. Here are a few great pointers to figure out the single player opponents in this game:

- Try to avoid going all-in before the flop, because if you have something great, chances are the opponents will fold out, or have something better than you. There is a slight amount of luck you could get, but it is smarter idea to avoid all-in bets before the flop.

- If your opponent raises you by a hefty amount, chances are they have something better than you. You are better off folding.

- Test the water: Bet small amounts. Typically if your opponent has something, they'll call you if you make a small bet. Only bet a little bit though, and that will probably carry you to the flop. Then you can go from there.

-Don't over-bet because a lot of the time, if you have a great hand, your opponents will fold, so you don't want to waste a great hand. Lure them in if possible.

Can I use my multiplayer bankroll for single player so I can enter higher-stakes single player tournaments?

I saw this question show up about a day ago, and no it is not possible. You must use your single player bankroll for single player tournaments.

I have completed the single player scenarios, but still no achievement, what gives?

Make sure you have completed all 6 of them.
