Tips For Hard Difficulty Please?
I aced medium difficulty and am trying hard but its just too hard ... any tips on how to move ur fingers or whatnot?  I put my pointer on green, middle on red, ring finger on yellow and use pinky for blue. Im having difficulty seeing which finger is easier to press the orange note with. Any helpful tips much appreciated thanks!

Re: Tips For Hard Difficulty Please?

The slide technique noted above works, as does just stretching your pinky over to hit Orange. Depending on the song and what's coming up I alternate between the two. For chords I'll usually stretch, during solo passages I'll slide my hand.

To get an idea of what would be best for you, I'd suggest trying the songs in Practice Mode. Slow them down, see what you find easier and go from there.

They're games people, just enjoy them! You could be stuck at work!

Re: Tips For Hard Difficulty Please?
Having played mainly on medium difficulty on all previous GH games has now cost me when it comes to playing on hard or expert. As everyone knows you only get the first 4 buttons on medium, so naturally you have your first finger on green, second on red etc. This is of course fine except for when it comes to playing on hard or expert. If you look at a lot of the top GH players they actually start with their first finger on the red button, second on yellow etc. Instead of sliding up to orange with your little finger they slide down to green with their first finger.

Having tried this technique it really does work for me now. It took ages to get used to and it really messed me up at first but slowly it became natural. I urge anyone out there who is struggling on the higher difficulties to try this technique and stick with it.

Also it really helps to practice the songs and listen to the rhythm and speed. If you are familiar with a song it is much easier to coordinate your hands rather than just trying to react to the colours on the screen.

I'm by no means an expert at this game but thought I would share my experiences.

Yeah I always start with my first finger on red, second on yellow, etc. Then if I need to do the green, I just move my hand up.
People r like slinkies. Their really good for nothing, but always bring a smile when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Re: Tips For Hard Difficulty Please?
I changed it up and my pinkie resides on orange with my index on red. It seems easier to move my index up to green and back than it is to slide my hand down to orange. It seems that there less green notes in harder songs. I can start either way, but for some reason I prefer to start with red, orange.

Re: Tips For Hard Difficulty Please?
Even though I can play on hard and expert my comfort level is still medium so thats usually all I play on. GH:A is probably the best game to learn hard mode on since it is the easiest of all the GH games. But yeah, knowing where your fingers are at all times is the hardest part as my biggest messups are when I lose track of my finger placement.

I just saved a ton of money on my car insurance by fleeing the scene of the accident.

Re: Tips For Hard Difficulty Please?
I start on green.  I always just move my hand slightly to the side and tap the orange button.  But if I know that a section of the song is going to be red through orange, I keep my index finger on red until the chart changes.  I have been playing expert since GH3 game out so I am used to sliding my hand quickly down and up the neck of the guitar.

To me starting on green is mostly usefull because most notes will be green through blue.  Starting there will give you the ability to stretch your pinky finger or if you have to, move your hand slighty down and tapping the orange.  If you want, we can play some coop and I'll use the technique I just posted.

Need help? Just ask me.

I'm in the same boat and getting closer to finally finishing a GH career on hard.  Every now and then I pick up one and practice a bit more.  I messed up by playing on med for too long and also never up-strummed.  I changed the fingering as described above with index on red and that helped a ton.  Also practice songs that force you to adjust your hand so it becomes natural.  Slow down the song that's killing you and practice the section until you get it right.  Its very cool once you get to the point where your hand just seems to take over and you're wondering "How the heck did I just get through that?!"
