500 Blaster Master Achievement
Does anyone know approx. how long it take to get this achievement? Like amount of points. or an easy way to do it? And do the rotating gray blocks count if you hit them or does it have to be ships?

Re: 500 Blaster Master Achievement

I just scored around 180,000 and got it. I scored around 160,000 earlier and didn't get it....

Good Luck!

Re: 500 Blaster Master Achievement
I've done what you said, but made it all the way to level 3 and still have not got it. is it the absolute first river or the river with flag. any pointers for scoring would be cool too thanks.  Oh how do you have 95K by the middle of lvl 2?
Let me ask you "What would Chuck Norris do?"

Thanks man, this worked. I didn't get it halfway through the 2nd level though. I had to play for awhile and got it at around 91,000. Its definetly easier getting 91,000 then 180,000. Good tip.

Re: 500 Blaster Master Achievement

I got it by setting the bonus ships to the lowest possible level and concentrating on just shooting ship and mostly ignoring the ground forces, unless they could shoot at me.  I also made it a point to get all the available flags while doing this.  Got it in a game where I scored around 180K.

How did you manage to score 91,000 points in the space of about a level.....am I missing somthing here or is it just a glitch.

Please explain?

The most entertaining thread in the world.......probably.

Re: 500 Blaster Master Achievement

Ok I've been trying for this for a while and I know I’ve must have came close a few times but after reading some tips and posts I think I can consolidate some info and  help others out.

First off set your bonus ships to 10000 and 40000.
Second look at some maps and know where the hidden sol citadels are. I used this site.

http://remind.bz/retrog/index.php?%E3%82%BC%E3%83%93%E3%82%A6%E3%82%B9#c9293951

Third on the first lvl (http://remind.bz/retrog/index.php?%E3%82%BC%E3%83%93%E3%82%A6%E3%82%B9%2F%E3%82%A8%E3%83%AA%E3%82%A201) kill all the flying ships till you get to the river with the flag in it and then die, you can do this 2 maybe 3 times depending if you get your first bonus life before you get past it after dieing twice.
You will kill between 100 and 150 flying ships each life thus cutting the remaining ships you have to kill in more then half making it a lot easier.

Forth last as long as you can. Like teamsaxo said he died with about 90k about half way through the 2nd level( Which I think is about lvl 6/7 going be the maps but he was thinking after killing Andor Genesis but before the 2nd one as those are the bosses and can be like level’s).

Re: 500 Blaster Master Achievement
I just got this achievement via the suicide method and I'd like to share some clarifications that helped me.

First off, I was confused by when exactly to die. teamsaxo says first river, AlienOne says second river. I found that right between them is actually the sweet spot. If you die by the first river, you lose out on 20-40 kills per life and if you die with the second river on screen, you respawn on level 2 and not level 1. The best thing to do is go for aerial kills only (ignore the ground-based units unless one of them fires at you too much), up until the Sol Citadel that is right past the first river. At that point, get as many aerial kills as you can while going for uncovering and blowing up the citadel. I chose to mostly get aerial kills and only uncover the citadel most of the time, but if you have the time for both that helps. This way, you'll be guaranteed the first extra life before you have to move on.

Learn the perfect spot to bomb for the first S flag in the second river. This helps immensly if you're not that great at the game. After killing yourself three times in a row, it's easy to get careless and mess up. That early extra life will come in very handy sometimes.

Finally, I died on level 5 (according to the map site) with a total score of 93k. I made it to that level with two lives, though, and I died both while trying to bomb the first Sol Citadel. That means I got the chance to pass through the flying enemy part of the level twice, which probably helped towards the 500. If you have two or more lives at this point, it's a pretty good place to re-do the suicide trick as it is fairly thick with flying enemies. If you can perfect finding the S flag in this level, I suppose it would be possible to loop this bit forever. Unless the S flag doesn't show up twice? I'm not very good at hitting the flags so I don't know if I've hit the right spot twice in a row and nothing showed up, or if I just missed it. Either way, it's possible to get the flag, die and respawn at the start of level (which is not possible in most other flag-bearing levels).

How easy or hard both suicide spots are depend entirely on what enemies the game feels like throwing at you. If you get mostly black dots or the fast enemy fighter planes on your first suicide attempt, just start over. You need kills that you can kill before they, well, kill themselves or blaze off-screen. During my round, the enemy I think I saw the most was the spinning buzzsaw-type-things. Those come in masses and are easy kills.

Re: 500 Blaster Master Achievement

LOL this achievement is kicking my *** .

I knew I was onto something when I decided to only go for airial enemies .

If you read how the game plays , each radar station you don't destroy makes the waves harder therefore increasing the flyers.

But I still have yet to get 500 kills  . Try it I might try that suicide method .

You guys have skills man  thanks .

Re: 500 Blaster Master Achievement
An update for anyone else trying to get this, I just got it and only had around 78k using the suicide method listed above. I died 2 times at the beginning leaving me one extra life moving forward, then picked up the 1st special flag. I killed all of the radar towers and as many air units as I could. Also uncovered a few citadels, died just after the long ocean part, missed the second special flag, died right after that area.

I don't know if any of this will help, it's simply what I did.

Re: 500 Blaster Master Achievement
Well I thought I would come back and say I got the achievement .
I just practiced and tried to memorize the positions of the towers and flags so I could keep getting extra ships .
I beat my highscore as well , I went far past it .
I definately didn't do the suicide trick but that ocean area gave me alot of trouble .
If you can get close to second andora genesis and know most of the flags and towers keep at it . You are getting close .
