It sounds like the update resolved the issue for most of you, but that there's still a few people having issues.
As Lucky stated, it'd be really useful if people who are still having issues could provide a little more detail about their setup. Not only what kind of display device you're using, but how it's connected - are you connecting through an A/V receiver? Using an HDMI switchbox? Etc.
I am connected directly to a Vizio SV470XVT 47" LCD HDTV with the official Microsoft HDMI cable. I had no issues at all prior to the February update – then this "fix" broke something. After the update, I have no audio and the resolutions are listed PC-style, indicating 1920x1080 instead of 1080p. These are the same issues others were experiencing before.
Resetting the video with Y+RT on startup restores HDTV Settings and audio functionality ... until I shut down the Xbox and/or TV, at which point the issues return. Basically, the 360 now fails to recognize my LCD as an HDTV, instead approaching it as a computer monitor. I have tried all four HDMI ports on the Vizio to see if any behave differently. No luck.
Since this was rolled out as a required Dashboard update, I have no way to revert or remove the offending files. Nothing else in my setup has changed in months. Please, MS, take a good long look at what has been done because I'm going to guess that nearly as many people got stung by this "update" as were affected by the original configuration – they just haven't started complaining yet.
