Crackpot theory about Nero!!
Alright, I have a crackpot theory here. Now this is only for people who have played the first one AND the fourth one.

1. In the first game when you kill Mundus at the end, Dante makes the comment to him "Say 'hello' to my son"

2. mission 11 of DMC4 you find out that Nero has the blood of Sparda in him.

3. Nero looks like Dante

4. The scene after Dante and Nero fight the third time Nero tells Dante "not a bad name" and as Nero walks away Dante kinda mutters under his breath "neither is yours, kid"

... so who else thinks that Nero could be Dante's kid? and who would the mother be, if it's even important to the story?

Interesting theory, but I highly doubt it.

I'm just a Demon man. I hadn't had my fill of fun yet.

It's not so much a crackpot theory, it is possible but like the other User I also doubt it.

This actually sounds pretty logical. I'm just questioning who the mother is. Trish wouldn't be since she is a demon of Mundus in a human form, and frankly I don't think Dante's that much of a freak.

After watching a video, I can discredit #1 by saying that Dante was talking about it being so long before Mundus comes back, that he would have a son to fight him. Not necessarily Nero.

gah... that blows a good chunk of my theory out of the water... but that still leaves that undeniable fact that dante and nero look identical except for the fact nero looks younger and his arm...

Oh I'm almost sure about that. Unless they are going to have an epic explanation in DMC5 which makes everything else wrong. Doubt it though! Smile [:)]

yea man thats a good theory but it holds nothing nero is just nero period he only looks like dante because this is how a devil hunter in the devil may cry series looks he has white or silver hair he carries a sword that is huge and he has a smart mouth thats all and nero is not vergil either nero was just created to bring new people to the game you know a different look like when raiden was brought to metal gear solid it was originally just supposed to be about nero but alot of people got pissed so they included dant in the game as well to satisfy those people which was a good move because dmc is his game not neros but i like your theorys theyre great myself im hoping in 5 they do clear this up im also hoping that vergil will come back he is a awesome character with great potential its time to switch the series in a new direction i mean yes its still dantes game but when you create great characters such as vergil and nero you have to include them as well you just cant leave them on the sideline the next game need a coop feature and a character select from the very start to keep this game as one of the best action games aroundBig Smile [:D]

Re: RE: Re: RE: Crackpot theory about Nero!!

I still personally think it's weird that Sparda could live in peace (supposedly) for 2000 years in the human world and NOT have a whole bunch of kids. That sure seems like a long time to only have 1 wife and two kids.

Anyway, on topic... I feel that Nero is just Nero, as someone else said. He looks a lot like Dante because the designers didn't want people to not be able to identify with Nero's looks. If he looks like Dante, trash talks like Dante, and kicks just as much butt, Fans of the series will feel right at home with Nero.

But as another poster said, if they didn't include Dante, it wouldn't be DMC, so they threw him in there.

As far as Nero's arm and power are concerned, I think it's Vergil's spirit....

-The Demon that shadows over Nero looks like a remade version of vergil, with the sheathe attached to his arm and everything. (this point holds water, cuz Dante's look for the DT changes with each game too).

-"From that day forth... My arm changed... and a voice echoed... Power... Give me more power!" Vergil was very power hungry in DMC3

-If I recall, "Nelo Angelo" was mistranslated, it should've been "Nero Angelo". Could be wrong on this, but if it's true then it explains why Dante said Nero had a nice name. That or he was just being nice! =D

That's my thoughts on it!

Yea I didnt understand HOW he got his arm, so I figured that the arm  is the only thing explaining the connection of dante and nero. I figured that nero is a direct son of sparda or a decendent.... How old is Dante anyway? is he like a super none aging human or something?

There's certainly no proof that he isn't that old. But again, a thousand years is a long time to not have a wife or a kid... Unless Nero is really......... Nah, it couldn't be. Or could it?! Surprise [:O]

Sorry guys but Nero isn't his son. I am sure of this because in the same cutscene Dante tells Nero that Yamato and I quote : "needs to stay in the family". So yeah that's it... -.-'

At the end of the game, Dante lets Nero keep Yamato.

Keep in mind that DMC4 is after 3 and 1, but DMC2 is "choronologicaly" last...even though that doesn't cover anything to do with Nero supposidly being Dante's "son"?...well that's an interesting theory, although Nero apparenlty has the blood of Sparda in him, doens't mean Dante is his father, sure Nero was adopted in Kyrie's family, so there is no record of parents...

I'm pretty certain the order is 3, 1, 4 and 2. Cuz I remember joking with my friend about it saying that Capcom is trying to forget 2 ever happened by not continuing it.

Yes lol of course it goes DMC3 - DMC1 - DMC4 - DMC4 - it's not about believing it's about knowing, anyway as I figured people now are not believing the facts I found proof for y'all... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil_May_Cry_2 - "The game serves as a sequel to Devil May Cry and is, chronologically the fourth game in the Devil May Cry series with Devil May Cry 3, Devil May Cry, and Devil May Cry 4 taking place before."

I hope that DMC5 is less about lame-quantum singularity characters and more about the Man in the Red Leather; Dante.  I just really did not like Nero, but that's just my opinion.

Well, it could also just be, DMC3, DMC1, then DMC4, since i believe most of the players (at least the ones i know) prefer to believe that DMC2 does not exist :P
