Re: Fastest marathon completion
My 40 lines time I'm around 1:02 i think. I can't break that 1 minute mark, wich is the only goal I've ever had for 40 lines. My record for marathon is 4:20. And I captured it. You can go check it out on my youtube page. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoEGdLCw-0k&feature=channel_page

Re: Fastest marathon completion
practice alot, get use to looking at the whole board, the matrix, ur hold piece, the coming pieces, and the lines left.
try to use ur hold piece as little as possible and never have holes in the matrix.

Re: Fastest marathon completion
One of these days, I'll have to see if I can break my marathon time. It'll be fun. I've taken a break from tetris for a while and would probably play pretty bad right now... I only have 56k internet now anyway,so I can't play online but I was at my friends house last night with my profile. Checked the leaderboard for Splash and was surprised that nobody is sneaking up on me for marathon...

About 7min for marathon, although i'm not really trying to do it faster, i just use it to warm up before going fast for 40 lines haha 50-53sec average too here :)

Best at 46.96sec i think : /

I'm not even sure what my marathon time is and I never bothered trying to go for a high score... Hey Army, try taking me out of first for my FFA score... lolll

Anyways....

I'm still tyring to break a minute on 40 lines and can't do it for the life of me... Best I got was around 1:01 I think. I know I can shave a few seconds... but just doesn't work out for me... I think my issue revolves around the fact that I have a tendency to spin pieces when not necessary (makes me feel like I have more control) and the fact that I swap out pieces occasionally.... ah well... MAYBE one day....

The great thing about playing this game online though is that speed is only a small element (considering you're reasonably quick). I put a lot more emphasis on down-stacking aggressively (large combos), building wisely, ready to switch approach at a whim (e.g. setting up T-spin into Tetris with a T in Hold and as I'm about to drop my next peice in the building process, I see incoming lines jump to 9.... *** the T-spin and start down-stacking into a large combo with a Tetris inevidably (sp??) coming between combo #3-6). Basically I try to play smart as opposed to quick (speed comes naturaly with practice) and I tend to do fairly well unless I'm having an off day and then nothing works...

Most of the people with around 50 seconds or lower in 40 lines are really good, however even those players can be beat with wise and slower play. Then, there are some players that have amazing times on 40 lines and don't stand a chance against a decent (slower) player 1on1.

My 2 Cents.....
