Considering when they were made:  Mechassault > Chromehounds > Mech 2

Mechassault was by far the most played XBL game until Halo 2 came out.  Huge community.

I liked them both. So I'm going to wuss out and claim the titles are evenly matched in a tie.

but the disadvantage is with mechassault is that the community is falling apart badly because u have people switching over from MA to CH, so while their community decreases the chromehounds community increases.

I follow the point you are trying to make Fields72 and thanks for responding. One hang-up I'm afraid I'm having however is how you're defining the word "community." In your mind does the word mean (when it pertains to a video game) a group of individuals that currently play a title or does your definition more broadly include fans of a particular game that may have played a game in the past? If you get a chance, please respond for I don't think I should expend too much effort on my own faulty assumptions. Thanks in advance...

The community has dwindled alot asin people that actually play the game....

There was a time when you could search for a mission any day, any time of day and have 10+ missions pop up now your lucky to get 1 or 2....there has been abit of an increase in newer players to the game but very few are willing to fight the more veteran squad's.

IMHO since I have been playing going on 2 years the game is dead....and the active community we shared at one point is dead.

Thanks XI JayD IX for responding. I wanted to give FIELDS72 a chance to write back before I go too far in depth into my own musings. But, I have had some time to dwell on what the word "community" specifically means when applied to online games and how it evolves and mutates with older titles. This experience may even be useful when applied to your Chromehounds™ "community." Heck, I even put the word "community" in my gamertag and co-founded a fan website devoted to a "dead" game where nearly 500 current and mostly former players have registered.

At any rate, JayD, I understand what you're saying and I've experienced similar slowdowns in activity over a wide variety of games. If we don't go too far down the existential road in our future discussion about how online game "communities" exist, and time permitting, then I would like to come back in the future and discuss your use of the word "dead."

Many thanks in advanced again to all of your thoughtful future responses...

I remember a few years back when I was at one of my friends houses we where playing MA2 and the community was booming with the website and everything. Now its like a forgotten memory now. Plus the cool thing was the Guest option. It was awesome. I loved it!

FIELDS72, that wasn't an answer. Typically interrogative statements are followed by clarifying statements from the other party within discussions. Not the other party's personal musings about how they used to have friends.

I personally like both. MechAssault was definitely more action based. The fact that is HAS a story-based single player mode makes it's replay value far and above that of Chromehounds. Having said that, MechAssault lacks the customization options Chromehounds has. In CH you can literally build a hound for any occassion. I only played a handful of online matches in MA, but I feel that was enough to say that CH is much more tactical, provided you have a decent team, and MA is more action based, in your face explosions...

For what it's worth, I found MechAssault 2 to be worse than MA1. The fact that I beat it in a couple hours shows the difficulty level wasn't all that great. I bought it, beat it once, then traded it in the next day...

Realism? IT'S A GAME ABOUT GIANT ROBOTS WITH GUNS! And how can you say that only MA is geared towards gameplay? I think what you might be going for is that MA is more of an arcade-style game as opposed to CH trying to go for a real-world setting and feel.

As far as which one I prefer, Chromehounds. No contest. I love being able to customize my hound exactly the way I want it. The online 'wars' I think are a great feature. For the record, I played this game for a while at launch then all of my squad basically quit and I didn't know anyone else online. I have recently considered coming back to the game.
If you're on the far left or the far right of an argument, you know what you've done? You've gone too far.

well even though MA2 is a future war game and CH is a theory war that is closer to happen, well. I guess it is a tie.

not really what it comes down to is what floats ur boat ssome people just want to put in a game and smash on people with out much effort. this is why chromehounds is often looked over because it has deeper game play than most games on the market it combines fps rts and a few other gaming elements all into one which makes it that much harder to grasp. Because its not like mechwarrior where u have presets or slots for weapons people dont want to think about it and then they play a game get destroyed and they thell all thier friends that its a horrible game so they dont play it all because some lazy person didnt want to take the time and learn about the game. im pretty sure that everyone that has played chromehounds and can claim the title of veteran that this is possibly one of the best mech games available.
